DODDS, MARY M.

Mary M. Dodds, 65, of Haven, died Monday, May 9, 1994. Services are 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Haven Baptist Church with Dean Flanner and Robert Shelton officiating. Burial will be in Laurel Cemetery.

She was born Feb. 16, 1929, in Hutchinson, to Joseph Harold Stalcup and Lela Pearl Jones. She was a teacher and homemaker and a mother of Haven Baptist Church.

On July 16, 1948, she and Floyd C. Dodds were married in rural Burrton.

Survivors include: husband, Floyd, daughters, Peggy Morgan, Linda Morgan, both of Haven, brother, Harold Stalcup of Burrton, sisters, Dorothy Kline, Carol Shaft, both of Hutchinson, Ruth Schmucker, Jane Koontz, both of El Dorado, five grandchildren.

DODSON, HAROLD M.

Harold M. Dodson, 67, of El Dorado, died Sunday, Oct. 16, 1994, at Susan B. Allen Hospital. Burial will be in Sunset Lawns Cemetery.

He was born Sept. 1, 1927, in El Dorado, the son of Frank and Tilby M Farthing Dodson, and lived most of his life in this area. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII.

On Aug. 12, 1945, he and Lavina Green were married in El Dorado. He was an oilfield driller and truck driver and attended the Nazarene Church. His memberships included the Bluestem Vintage & Classic Auto Club, American Legion and the Men’s Bowling League.

Survivors include: wife, Lavina, sons, Marvin of El Dorado, Kevin of Broken Arrow, Okla., daughter, Ann Osterhout of Elizabeth, Colo.; brother, Glen of El Dorado, sisters, Opal Sipe, Naomi Wilson both of El Dorado, nine grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and a bother, Earl.

DOUBECK, DONALD

Donald Doubeck, 68, of Longford, died Friday, Oct. 7, 1994 at his home. Services were held at the United Methodist Church, Longford. Pastor Ron Williams officiated the services. Burial was in Rose Meron Cemetery, in Clay County.

He was born Oct. 23, 1925, in Longford, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph E. Doubek of El Dorado. His mother owned and operated the Doubek Hat and Dress Shop. He graduated from high school in 1943. He was a material purchaser for Rockwell International in Southern California until retiring in 1980 and moved back to Longford in 1993.

He served in the U.S. Army during WWII and was a POW in Germany for six months. His memberships included the United Methodist Church, Lions Club and Veterans of Foreign wars.

Survivors include sons, Mark Chafe of Moore, Okla., Dale Doubek of Joshua Tree, Calif., daughter, Linda Ann Fotopoulos of Shawnee, sister, Erenestyne Kindlesparger of Salina, two grandchildren.

DOUGHTY, GLADYS I.

Services for Gladys I. Doughty, 94 of Leon, will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at the Leon United Methodist Church. She died Thursday. (El Dorado Times, Feb. 25, 1994)

Gladys I. Doughty, 94, of Leon, died Thursday afternoon, Feb. 24, 1994, at Walnut Valley Manor Nursing Home in Augusta. Funeral services are 11 a.m. Monday at the Leon United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Leon Cemetery. Rev. Quentin Bennett will officiate the services.

She was born June 21, 1899, in Leon, the daughter of Hugh Frank and Letta Jane (Casteel) Snodgrass. She lived most of her life in the Butler County area. On June 28, 1918, she and Chriss Doughty were married in Leon. He died in 1970.

She taught school and was a secretary and bookkeeper for Losh Chevrolet. Her memberships included the Leon United Methodist Church, Order of the Eastern Star Past Worthy Matron, Quest Club, American legion Auxiliary, National Rural Carriers Auxiliary and the Kansas Federation of Women’s Clubs.

Survivors include: daughter, Jeanette Wandmacher of Long Island, N.Y.; one granddaughter, one great-granddaughter. Memorials are to the Leon United Methodist Church. Kirby-Morris Funeral Home has the arrangements. (El Dorado Times, Feb. 26, 1994)

DOUGLAS, EMMA C.

Emma C. Douglas, 89, of El Dorado, died Wednesday, Feb. 16, 1994 at Knutson Manor Nursing Home. Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at the Trinity United Methodist Church. Burial will follow in Economy Cemetery.

She was born Aug. 27, 1904, five miles southeast of El Dorado in Butler County, the daughter of Frederick Joseph and Elizabeth Glaser Unger, Jr. She married Gerald V. Griffith in 1923 and he died in 1940. She later married Robert A. Douglas in 1943 and he also preceded her in death in 1949. She spent most of her entire life in Butler County, except for a time when she lived in Nebraska. She operated Travelers Motel on north Main from 1950 to 1955. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church and the Loyal Daughters Sunday School Class.

Survivors include sons, William Griffith, of Longmont, Color., Thomas Griffith of Belgrade, Mont., Russell Griffith of El Dorado, daughter Dorothy Poston, of Waverly, grandchildren she raised, Jeanette Lowry of Ottawa, Marsha Reeser, Diane Cravens both of El Dorado, 16 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, one sister and one grandson.

Memorials have been established with Trinity United Methodist Church.

DRAKE, ELMER E.

Elmer E. Drake, 76, of Neal, retired petroleum laboratory technician, died Saturday, Jan. 8, 1994, at HCA Wesley Medical Center. Services are 11 a.m. Tuesday at Campbell-Kelley Funeral Home in Eureka. Burial is in Toronto Cemetery and Rev. Kyle Godsey will officiate services.

He was born Dec. 4, 1917 to Ernest J. Drake and Anna Viola Bone, in Quincy, where he attended schools. He graduated from Cascade High School in Montana and moved to Greenwood County in 1937. In WWII, he was in the U.S. Army’s 71st Infantry and served in Panama and Germany.

On Nov. 26, 1945, he and Viola Mae Blevins were married in Yates Center and they moved to Neal in 1978. His memberships included the Eureka American Legion, VFW 2712 and the O.C.A.W.

Survivors include, wife, Viola, sons, Richard of Independence, Ernest of Eureka, daughter, Susan Wells of Howard; brother, Kenneth of Great Bend, sister Geraldine Smith of El Dorado; 16 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren.

Thelma Schreck, Drake, of Wichita, formerly of El Dorado, former owner of Chasnoff Clothing, died Thursday, Jan. 6, 1994. Memorial services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Hillside Funeral Home.

Wanda Edna Dudley, 76, of Ardmore, Okla., died Thursday, Nov. 17, 1994. Private services were held.

She was born Feb. 11, 1918, in Towanda, the daughter of Marvan A. and Clara J. (Resor) Evans. She was married to Claud L. Dudley. He preceded her in death in 1972. She lived in Ardmore for 20 years. She was a homemaker and a member of Eastern Star of Healdton Chapter.

Helen C. Duggan, 83, of Niles, farmer and rancher, died Monday, Jan. 17, 1994. Services are 10 a.m. Thursday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Solomon.

Lois Martin Daniels Duncan, 83, of Valley Springs, Ark., died Tuesday, Jan. 4, 1994. Services were held today at Christeson Funeral Home. Burial was in Maplewood Cemetery and Rev. Kenneth Smith officiated the services.

She was born April 11, 1910, in Limestone, Ark. To George and Caroline Brown Neal. She was a homemaker.

Survivors include, husband, Ervin Duncan, sons Bill Daniels, Jerry Daniels, both of Harrison, Ark., Harold “Johnny” Daniels, Dolan Daniels, both of El Dorado, daughters, Helen Edwards of El Dorado, Minnie Greenhaw, Sue Simmons, Donna Larson, all of Harrison, Marietta White of Towanda, Niva Joe Riggs, of Burns, sisters, Dorothy Greenwald of Kimberling City, Mo., Juanita Thompson of Yakima, Wash., 26 grandchlidren, 34 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Roy Daniels, son Clyde Daniels, two sisters, two brothers and two grandsons.

Louise D. (Voisin) Duncan, 66, of El Dorado, died Wednesday, Oct. 26, 1994, at Susan B. Allen Hospital. Private services will be held.

She was born March 17, 1928, in Florence, Ala., the daughter of Townsel and Vergie Dodd Daniels. She was a homemaker and moved to El Dorado from Fresno, Calif., in 1971. She married Herb Duncan in 1971 in El Dorado. He preceded her in death.

Survivors include sons, Rick Voisin of Towanda, Guy Steven Voisin of El Dorado, Daughter, Wanda Louise Voisin of El Dorado, mother, Vergie Daniels, brother, Roy Daniels, both of Sacramento, Calif., sisters, June Benjamin of Ogallala, Neb., Eleanor Brum of Sacramento, Calif., Betty Rose of Fresno, Calif., four grandchildren.

Mabel I. Dunlap, 95, of El Dorado, died Monday, April 18, 1994, at Knutson Manor Nursing Manor. Services will be 2 p.m. Thursday in Sunset Lawns Cemetery.

She was born May 30, 1898, in Galva, the daughter of Carl and Odelia Lindeen Grant and moved to El Dorado in the 1920’s. She had been a rural school teacher and was a member of the Haverhill Christian Church and the Friendly Neighbors Club.

On Sept. 14, 1923, she and Ferdinand Guy Dunlap were married in Independence. He died Oct. 15, 1980.

Survivors include: daughter, Joanne McCaffree of El Dorado, sister, Fern Reynolds, of Broken Arrow, Okla., four grandchildren, two great-grandsons. She was preceded in death by her parents, one daughter, six brothers and five sisters.

DUNSFORD, JOSEPH RICHARD “DICK”

Joseph Richard “Dick” Dunsford, 68, of Augusta, died Tuesday, Dec. 6, 1994. Services are 2 p.m. Friday at First Christian Church with Rev. Michael Omundson officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery.

He was born July 22, 1926, in Augusta, the son of Joseph F. Dunsford and Nettie G. Cramer. On April 12, 1981, he and Treva Potter were married in Augusta. He was a funeral director and member of Rotary Club, American Legion, Mystic Tie Lodge 74, Masonic Lodge Consistory, BPOE 1462, Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge 138 and the First Christian Church. He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII.

Survivors include: wife, Treva, sons, Joe of Columbus, Ohio, Jack of Hutchinson, John of Augusta, daughter Debbie Wattenbarger of Wichita; stepson, terry Brown of Augusta, stepdaughter, Sue Hoefgen of Augusta, sister Barbara McKay of Wichita, six grandchildren, one great-grandchild.

DUTCHER, CLARENCE STERLING

Clarence Sterling Dutcher, 81, of rural Eldon, Mo., former El Dorado, resident, died March 16, 1994, in a car accident.

He was born Feb. 7, 1913, to R. S. and Florence Dutcher in Three Forks, MT. He graduated from El Dorado High School and attended El Dorado Junior College. On Aug. 25, 1940, he and Helen Keith were married. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII and after the war moved to the Kansas City area where he worked for Black Sevill and Bryson Company and later for Continential Disc Corp. until his retirement. He lived in Kansas City from 1939 to 1987 when he moved to Missouri.

Survivors include, wife, Helen; son, Melvin of Council Bluffs, IA; three grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, sister, Louise Johnson of Boulder, Colo. He was preceded in death Aug. 12, 1993 by a daughter, Jean Eileen. (El Dorado Times, Apr. 5, 1994)
