BUTLER COUNTY'S EIGHTY YEARS BIOS
BOBBY CASSEL
(Transcribed by Peggy Luce)
You were such a little tyke, Bobby, to take the long, long journey that opened before you when the waters of Fox Lake closed over your head. But knowing you, dear laddie, your tiny footsteps must have gone unfalteringly through the gate and into the infinite bounds of the Great Unknown. There was an honesty in your little face, a steadfastness about your character that gave promise of a richness of manhood, which is not to be in Gods wisdom. You were an honor student in your classes, you were always clean in appearance and speech, and you were a little gentleman wherever one found you. You lived only ten years, Bobby, but you held a high place in the Court of Boyville and your gang will always cherish your memory. For, going as you did, the personality that was you will never change; the cruel, hard world will never make you different, carving lines into your visage and your soul. Your boyish sweetness will abide, changeless and unchanging and we who remain for the struggle a few more fleeting years will be better and purer because we knew you. June 11, 1934.
