BUTLER COUNTY'S EIGHTY YEARS BIOS
GEORGE W. ELSON
(Transcribed by Peggy Luce)
George W. Elson, whose sudden death was a severe shock to this community, was the type of citizen who helped give El Dorado its solidity of character. For thirty-one years he had been a resident of this town. He engaged in business here, he invested his savings in property, he gave to public enterprises, he reared a family, he took an alert and active interest in all public matters. He was friendly and every day something went out of his life into the structure and fabric of the town. He counted his friends by the hundreds and his bluff heartiness always carried with it a pleasing infectiousness. He contributed usefully to his day and generation. The town will not seem quite the same without George Elson. August 10, 1932.
