BUTLER COUNTY'S EIGHTY YEARS BIOS

JOSEPH KING

(Transcribed by Lori DeWinkler)

The death of Joseph King, of Potwin, removes another stalwart in the older generation of the Kingdom of Butler that it can ill afford to lose. For forty-four years he had been a resident of this county, devoting the days of his activity to farming and cattle-raising. He had accumulated nearly four sections of land and knew of the problems of the farmer from first hand experiences, through many trials. He was upright in all his dealings, God-fearing, outspoken, and a kindly friend and neighbor. He reared a fine family of four sons and left his impress strongly upon his day and generation. Joe King will be greatly missed in the county that called him citizen for nearly half a century.
