BUTLER COUNTY'S EIGHTY YEARS BIOS
ROBERT Y. TALIAFERRO
(Transcribed by Peggy Luce)
Our hearts are heavy today because Bob Taliaferro has left us a brave warrior to the happy hunting ground. The world is better because he lived.
Bob Taliaferro always traveled in a straight line the shortest distance between two points. At work or at play he was whole-hearted, spirited, dependable. You always knew where Bob Taliaferro stood yes was yes and no was no. He was clean, firm, kind, thoughtful and generous. He was not too exultant in victory; he was not downcast in defeat.
I liked Bob Taliaferro the minute we shook hands when he first came to El Dorado twenty-nine years ago. We have been steadfast friends ever since. I was with him when he crossed the Great Divide the faint trace of a smile on his lips as if he would say, Well, well see how this turns out.
Bob knew we had lots of faults but never chided us about them. He was just that way with everybody. Any wonder we all loved him? Bye, Old Timer, be seein you. Chester C. Shelden.
