STANLEY TAYLOR

Stanley Taylor was born October 10, 1895 at Dunnville, Kentucky. He is the son of Addison Nicholas and Sue (Rector) Taylor, both parents being members of prominent Kentucky families. His father died in 1931 and his mother now resides at Augusta.

In politics Mr. Taylor is an ardent Republican and at the present time, January 1935, is assistant county attorney and chairman of the Republican Central Committee of Butler County. He is a member of the Christian Church and in civic affairs is a member of the Lions Club of El Dorado. Mr. Taylor is chairman of the Boy Scout Court of Honor, a member of the Masonic Lodge, American Legion, Butler County Bar Association, Kansas Bar Association, a member of the El Dorado Library board and of Phi Alpha Delta law fraternity.

Stanley Taylor had his first schooling in the state of Kentucky and completed his high school education at Augusta where he was graduated from high school in 1913. The following year he attended Friends University at Wichita. During the two years after his graduation, he taught school in the rural districts of Butler County.

In 1916 Mr. Taylor enrolled in the law school of the University of Kansas, leaving there in June 1918 to enter military service. He served fourteen months in the army, being stationed at Camp Funston, Kansas, and Fort D. A. Russell, Wyoming, from which place he received an honorable discharge in August, 1919. He resumed his studies and was graduated from the University of Kansas law school in June of 1920.

Mr. Taylor began the practice of law in the office of the late N. A. Yeager and R. A. Cox, in Augusta, coming to El Dorado in January 1921 upon his appointment as assistant county attorney. He served in this capacity until November of 1926 when he was elected to the office of county attorney. He was elected again to that office in November, 1928. Leaving that office in January 1931, Mr. Taylor has since practiced law in El Dorado with B. R. Leydig and K. M. Geddes. He also served two years as city attorney of Augusta.

Mr. Taylor has one brother, Zachary Taylor, who is on the news staff of the Wichita Eagle; a sister Margaret T. Foltz, who resides in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Mr. Taylor was married November 28, 1922 to Mildred Deyo, of Augusta. They have one child, Janet Pattie Taylor, who was born January 14, 1927.
