EL DORADO SERVICEMAN IS ASSIGNED TO PRESIDENTIAL FLIGHT DUTY

Sgt. Craig Towner of El Dorado has been assigned to U.S. Army Presidential Flight duty. He will be flight engineer on The Presidential helicopter.

In announcing his assignment, the Army said Sgt. Towner has been through intensive screening since September. Sgt. Towner, who is visiting in El Dorado, will report to Washington in about a week.

He is the son of Mrs. Ferrel Starner, 1010 S. High, El Dorado, and Bob Towner, Hayward, Calif. His wife is the former Jerrilyn Hower, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Hower, El Dorado. They have a son, Chris, 4.

Sgt. Towner is a 1969 graduate of El Dorado High School; attended Butler County Community College, Oklahoma State University, Thomas Nelson Junior College, Newport News, Va., and Cameron University, Lawton, Okla.

He has been in the service three and one-half years. While at Ft. Sill, Okla., he was listed as post "soldier of the month" and field artillery NCO for the quarter.

He will attend the Fifth Army School for 14 weeks for training on the Sikorsky helicopter.
