
Ruby "Fern" Kerns, 90, of Augusta, went
to be with her Lord on Tuesday, Dec. 9, 2008.
Visitation 1-6 p.m. with family present to greet friends from 4-6 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 12 and services will be
held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 13, all at Headley Funeral Chapel, Augusta. Burial will be at Elmwood Cemetery, Augusta.
Fern was born in Centralia, Okla. on Sept. 5, 1918; the daughter of the late Francis Marion and Mary Stylis (Darbrow)
West. She retired from Cessna after 17 years and she worked at the Augusta bowling alley. She married Ted on Jan.
7, 1935. They were blessed with four boys and two girls.
She is survived by: sons, Oliver Kerns (Felipa) of Augusta, and Ron Kerns (Darla) of Goddard; daughters, Louetta
"Faye" Taber of El Dorado, and Rosetta "Rose" Rodriguez of Augusta; grandchildren, Terry Kerns,
Patricia Ridenour, Debra Mabry, April Harless, Gary Taber, Angie Drouillard, Brian Rodriguez, Paula Peffly, Christina
Metcalf, and Jennifer Leasure; great-grandchildren, Kerry Kerns, Timothy Mabry, Joshua Mabry, Haley Harless, Johnny
Lee Taber, Taylor Metcalf, Madison Schulte, Sydney Drouillard, Rylee Drouillard, Mallory Rodriguez, Zachary Rodriguez,
Shelbi Peffly, Levi Peffly, Seth Peffly, Laura Peffly and Sarah Grace Peffly.
She was preceded in death by husband, Ted: sons, Floyd and Francis Marion Kerns; brothers, Marion and John; twin
brother, Frank; sisters Lula Mae and Sylvania Cole; and a granddaughter, Patty Kerns.

Winifred Marie Ketch, 85, Augusta, died on Friday,
June 24, 2005.
Graveside service at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 29, at Elmwood Cemetery in Augusta.
Visitation 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, June 28, at Dunsford Funeral Home in Augusta.
Winifred was born on Feb. 21, 1920 in Nash, Okla., the only child of Floe E. (Alexander) and Earl E. Ketch.
She graduated from Augusta High School in the class of 1939 and entered the teaching profession in the fall of
1943, after graduating from Kansas State Teachers College of Emporia.
Winifred taught business skills subjects at Augusta High School for 42 years, retiring in May 1985.
She became a member of the First United Methodist Church of Augusta on March 25, 1945, and served there in many
capacities.
Her survivors include her first cousins, Eldon Wilkerson of Indianola, Iowa, Donna Myers of Oklahoma City, Okla.,
John Needels of Basin, Wyo., Eloise Frankhouser of Grass Valley, Calif., Betty Rayl of Hutchinson.
Memorials may go to First United Methodist Church of Augusta or any charity of donor's choice.

Martha Jane was born May 15, 1920 in Tulsa, Oklahoma
to Arthur and Alwilda C. Harris. She grew up in Texas then moved to Augusta, Kansas in 1965 where she lived until
1990 following the death of her husband, Robert W. Kime, who passed away in 1989. She departed this life Wednesday,
November 27, 1996 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma at the age of 76 years, 6 months and 12 days. She was a Methodist
and a Homemaker. She is survived by her children, Brenda J. Ritchards of Mustang, Oklahoma and Arthur W. Kime (Kris)
of Kansas City, Missouri. She is also survived by her grandchildren, John Vanette and Victoria Ritchards and her
great grandchildren, John William and April Dawn Ritchards.

metal employee, passed away peacefully in her home on Wednesday, June 30, 2010.
Family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, July 1; funeral service at 1 p.m. Friday, July 2, both at the

Kathy was born July 26, 1952, in El Dorado to Harold LeRoy and Wanda June (Maddox) Hasting. She grew up in Augusta
and attended Augusta schools. Kathy married Thomas John King on July 4, 1992, in El Dorado.
Survivors include: her husband, Tom of the home; son, Tommy D. Osborn, Jr., Augusta; daughters, Terina Espinoza,
Wichita, Jeri Brown, Augusta, and Stacey Hill, Wichita; step-sons, Homer King, Augusta and Virgil Eastham, Oklahoma;
step-daughters, Juanita Newberry, Leon, Mary Eastham, Augusta; brothers, Mike (Ann) Hasting, Oklahoma, Raymond
(Connie) and Larry (Karen) Hasting both of El Dorado; sister, Laura (Danny) Mohler, Drexel, Missouri; 23 grandchildren
and 7 great-grandchildren.
Kathy was preceded in death by her parents, siblings Gaylord and Tina Hasting in infancy, sister, Wanda Lynn Ramsey,
and a niece, Amy Mohler.
The family wishes to express special gratitude to Kathy and Patti of the former Odyssey Hospice now Hospice Care
of Kansas.

Mrs. Janet Hill, 35, a former El Doradoan, died Wednesday night in a Springfield, Mass., hospital.
She was the wife of M/Sgt. R. D. Hill, stationed at Westover Air Force Base in Massachusetts.
Mrs. Hill, reared in Augusta, was a resident of El Dorado for a brief period following her marriage. She attended Augusta schools.
Sergeant Hill, who was reared in the El Dorado area, is serving a career in the Air Force. He attended schools in El Dorado and in Leon.
Survivors include the widower; two sons, Raymond D. II, 17, and Roger, 14, of the home; her mother, Mrs. Imel Smith, Augusta; a sister, Mrs. Lupe (Ellen) Cabrales, Junction City; and a brother, Dennis of South Dakota.
Sergeant Hill's mother, Mrs. M. L. Gaines, lives at 319 North Atchison, and his sister, Mrs. Robert West, resides at 428 Hunton Road.
Funeral services for Mrs. Hill will be held at
Augusta, but arrangements are incomplete.

MRS. R. D. HILL FORMERLY LIVED IN BUTLER COUNTY
Services were held Monday at the Dunsford Funeral Home chapel in Augusta for Mrs. R. D. Hill (Janet Smith), former El Doradoan who died April 23 in a Springfield, Mass., hospital after a lengthy illness. Interment was in Elmwood cemetery.
Mrs. Hill was the wife of M/Sgt. R. D. Hill, formerly of El Dorado and now stationed at Westover AFB in Massachusetts. She was reared in Augusta and attended school there. For a brief time after their marriage the couple lived in El Dorado.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by two sons, Raymond D. II and Roger, both of the home; her mother, Mrs. Imel Smith of Augusta; a sister, Mrs. Lupe Cabrales (Ellen) of Junction City, and a brother, Dennis who lives in South Dakota. She was a daughter-in-law of Mrs. M. L. Gaines and a sister-in-law of Mrs. Robert West (Virginia), both of El Dorado.
Master Sergeant Hill and his sons returned to Massachusetts
Wednesday by plane, after spending a few days here with his mother and with Mr. and Mrs. West.

MRS. ETTA HURD, AUGUSTA, DIES; RITES THURSDAY
AUGUSTA --- Services for Mrs. Etta Marie Hurd,
57, who died Sunday of an illness, will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday in United Methodist Church.

Funeral services will be held at 2:30 Wednesday afternoon at the Dunsford Funeral Home Chapel for Fred R. Switzer, 77, who died at St. Francis hospital in Wichita Monday. The Rev. Paul Gilbert will conduct the services. Interment will be in the Elmwood mausoleum.
Fred R. Switzer was born Dec. 21, 1891 at Augusta, the son of Joe and Nettie (Reed) Switzer. He was married to Georgia Grace Amey, and after her death in 1944 he was married to Mora Marion Schuster. She preceded him in death on April 23, 1969.
He was a painter and former restaurant owner in Augusta and a member of the Masonic Lodge and Consistory.
Survivors include two step-sons, Fred Schuster
of Fall River and Jack Schuster of Denver, Colo.; five step grandchildren and five step great-grandchildren.

Mark Corbin, 2-year-old, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ted Corbin of Route 1, died Saturday at the Wesley Medical Center in Wichita.
Services were held Tuesday at the Central Baptist Church, Route 1, Augusta, with burial in the Elmwood Cemetery at Augusta.
He was born June 10, 1975, at Wichita, the son of Ted and Karen (Mark) Corbin.
Survivors include his parents and two sisters, Julie and Jenny, all of the home; his paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Warren Corbin of Route 1; his material grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Stewart Mark, and his material great-grandmother, Mrs. Julia Stevens, all of Augusta.
A memorial has been established in his name with the Central Baptist Church.

Viola May Beal, 80, died Dec. 19 at the Augusta Medical Complex.
Services were held Dec. 21 at the Dunsford Chapel, Augusta, with burial in Elmwood Cemetery, Augusta.
She was born May 1, 1897, in Missouri, the daughter of Ervin and Mabel Worth Young.
She was married to Otis Beal in 1918 in Independence, Kan. He died in 1974.
Survivors include three sons, Claude Beal of Augusta,
Harold Beal of Oklahoma City, and Robert Beal of Elizabethtown, Ky.; three sisters, Alta Mahan, Mission Hills,
Calif.; Lola Hunt and Dorothy Kennedy.

Mr. and Mrs. Robert Simpson, 245 Wiley, are the
parents of twin sons, Stewart Alan and Spencer Alden, born Sept. 19 in Wesley Hospital,Wichita. Spencer Alden
was stillborn. Graveside services for the baby were held yesterday morning in Elmwood Cemetery with Rev. B. W.
Thomas in charge. Dunsford's Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Stewart Alan weighed six pounds, 12
ounces.
