FALWELL, ETHELYN J.

Services for Ethelyn J. Falwell, 91, Lawrence, will be at 3 p.m. Monday at Warren-McElwain Mortuary. Private inurnment will be at a later date at Elmwood Cemetery in Augusta.

Mrs. Falwell died Thursday, June 5, 2003, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.

She was born Sept. 13, 1911, in Rock, the daughter of Charles and Ethel (Houser) Harp. She graduated from Winfield High School in 1930, and studied organ and piano at Southwestern College, Winfield.

Mrs. Falwell lived in Augusta for 60 years, where she served as a Girl Scout and 4-H leader. She was a member of Augusta Acappella Music Club, Organ Club and First Christian Church.

She married Roy Dean Falwell on June 16, 1934, in Wichita. He died Dec. 3, 1998.
A son, Stephen Michael Falwell, also died earlier.

Survivors include two daughters, Sherrill Catt, Lawrence, and Leigh Anne Pates, Salina; a brother, Marlyn Harp, Winfield; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

FALWELL, ROY DEAN

Services for Roy Dean Falwell, 89, Lawrence, are pending and will be announced by Warren-McElwain Mortuary. Private inurnment will be held at a later date in Elmwood Cemetery, Augusta.

Mr. Falwell died Thursday, Dec. 3, 1998, at Brandon Woods Retirement Community.

He was born on Feb. 4, 1909, in Chanute, the son of Clarence and Susan Hooper Falwell. He lived for many years in Augusta and moved to Lawrence in 1996.

He worked for 45 years as an Alkylation operator for the Mobil Oil Company before retiring in June of 1974. He was a member of First Christian Church in Augusta for many years and recently was attending Central United Methodist Church. In Augusta he had been a member of the board for the Lily Lake School, the board of directors of the August Credit Union, the Local Chemical and Atomic Workers Union, the Camera Club and the Good Neighbor Sam Camping Club.

He married Ethelyn J. Harp on June 16, 1934, in Wichita. She survives of the home.

Other survivors include two daughters, Sherrill Catt, Lawrence, and Leigh Anne Pates, Salina; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

"Charlie" Fennell, Sr., 72, of Augusta, died Wednesday, Nov. 10, 1993. Services are 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Dunsford Funeral Home. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery. Rev. Vern Bowers will officate the services.

He was born Nov. 11, 1920, in Wichita, to Charles W. Fennell and Elma K. Wood. On July 27, 1942, he and Jane Guest were married in Wichita. He served in the U.S. Air Corps and was retired from Boeing. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and the First United Methodist Church.

Funeral services for William D. Fudge, 63, of 1624 West Central, who died Sunday, were conducted this morning at the Dietz-Pittman Colonial Chapel.

The Rev. W. Frank Aten, pastor of the First Christian church, officiated. Mrs. Verne Whitby, organist, accompanied Mrs. Baxter Logan, who sang "How Great Thou Art" and "Beyond the Sunset".

Casket bearers were Gene Davis, Bob Doerflinger, Ivan Marshall, Robert Runsey, Glenn Berryman and Lawrence Welty. Honorary bearers were T. L. Farmer, A.W. Honn, Charles Hudson, H.B. Moss, Noel Russell, Frank Knust, Harvey Kimberlin, Chris Stackley, Chester O'Bryan and Ruben Loos.

Following the service, rites were conducted by El Dorado Lodge No. 74, 100F, with A.M. Redburn, noble grand, and Leonard Hauser, chaplin, in charge. At the graveside, Fred Smith and Glenwood A. Diets served as flag folders at military rites. Groups attending in a body included the I00F, Rebekah and Golden Age club.

Burial was in Elmwood cemetery at Augusta.

John was born on Dec. 24, 1919 to John William and Mary (Wix) Ferrel in Butler, Mo. He served in the US Army Air Corp during WWII and married Marjorie Ann Eagleson on Aug.10, 1946 in El Dorado.

Survivors include: daughters, Carolyn (Jeff) Collins of Phoenix, Ariz., Debra (Mike) Carey of Denver, Colo.; three grandchildren, Jamie Carey, Ryan (Katie) Collins and Nolan (Jenny) Collins and four great-grandchildren; sister-in-laws, Dorothy "Dot" Mills (Paul Jerry Slattery) of Wichita, and Eva Bastin (Stan Mills) of Dallas, Texas.

AUGUSTA - Fletcher, Dennis Allen, 61, passed away Thursday, Jan. 15, 2004. Mr. Fletcher was born in Augusta, KS on Feb. 24, 1942. He was the son of the late Floyd W. and Eula (Woolery) Fletcher. A sister, Janet Sue preceded him in death as well. He was a barber since 1960 and owned Fletcher's Barber Shop since 1976. He was a member of the WFO Guys and Dennis requested that those with vintage cars drive them to the service. On May 1, 1994 he married Anna (Lebeda) in Reno, NV. She survives. FORSHEY, JACK

AUGUSTA - Jack Forshey, 54, of Augusta, a former Parsons resident, died Sunday morning, Aug. 18, 2002, in Augusta.

He was born July 3, 1948, in Parsons to Howard and Juanita (Divine) Forshey. He grew up and attended schools in Parsons.

In his early adult years he moved to the Wichita area. He was employed by Raytheon Aircraft and later retired.

Survivors include his wife, Glenda Forshey of the home; a brother and sister-in-law, John and Betty Forshey of Parsons; a sister, Margaret Forshey of Parsons; his father and mother-in-law, Red and Martha Santee of Andover; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Hershal and Sue Santee of Tempe, Ariz., Andy and Kat Santee of Atlanta and Dave and Brenda Leiber of El Dorado; three nephews; one niece; and several aunts and uncles.

He was preceded in death by his father, Howard Forshey; his stepfather, Sam Bush; and a sister, Cheryl Ann Blackburn.

The service will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the Hillside of Augusta Chapel, where the family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday.

LEON - Freeman, Harold, 74, passed away Thursday, June 10, 2004. He retired from Texaco in El Dorado after 38 years. Mr. Freeman was born in rural Butler County on July 19, 1929, he was the son of the late Ivan and Eva Leona (Shafer) Freeman. He graduated from Wichita State Magna Cum Laude with a degree in Business Administration. He was a member of El Dorado American Legion and VFW and a member of American MENSA. GISH, ROSE E. BELFORD

Graveside services for Rose E. Belford Gish, 90, Baldwin, will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Elmwood Cemetrey in Augusta. Memorial services will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday at First United Methodist Church in Augusta. The Rev. Burl Allison Jr. will officiate both services.

Mrs. Gish died Tuesday at a Baldwin nursing home.

She was born Nov. 1, 1899, in Hays. She grew up in Greeley, Colo., attended Greeley schools and graduated from Greeley High School. She received a bachelor's degree in education from Sterling College in 1921, where she was president of her senior class.

Mrs. Gish and her husband lived in several Kansas communities, including Hamilton, Belpre, Little River, Kingman and Augusta. She lived in Wichita for a short time and moved to Orchard Lane Nursing Home in Baldwin in 1982.

She taught Latin, French, German and Spanish and coached girls basketball in Colorado schools before she married.

Mrs. Gish was a member of First United Methodist Church in Augusta and had been a 50-year member of PEO Sisterhood.

She married Lee M. Gish on Sept. 24, 1923, in Greeley. He died in 1975.

Survivors include three sons, Lowell, Baldwin, Larry, Stillwater, Okla., and G. Merlin, Merriam; nine grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

James Howard Glaze, 89, lifetime resident of Haverhill, passed away Monday, March 12th, 2007.

Mr. Glaze was born in Haverhill on February 19, 1918, the son of the late Lyman Logan and Effie (Earll) Glaze. He was an Army Air Corps veteran of W.W. II and he worked as a draftsman for Beech, Boeing, Cessna and Learjet retiring from Boeing in 1976. On May 31, 1947, he married Florence E. Hopkins. She preceded him in death in 2001. Brothers, Wayne and William Robert Glaze and sisters, Elizabeth Weatherholt and Margaret Taylor preceded him in death as well.

AUGUSTA - Goucher, Donald B., Pahrump, NV, passed away Tuesday, September 7, 2004.

Mr. Goucher was born in Oregon, MO on January 13, 1933, he was the son of the late Gerald and Ella (Carr) Goucher. He worked as a salesman for Scholfield Brothers in Augusta and retired as a salesman of manufactured houses in Pahrump. Don served 4 years as Vice President Chamber of Commerce, Pahrump. He was a member of Faith Fellowship Four Square Church where he served 6 years as Board of Directors.

Survivors include: wife, Betty, Pahrump; sons, Randy Goucher, Leon and Charlie Goucher, Pahrump, NV; daughters, Marilyn McClure, Tricia Bassingthwaighte, and Connie Mead, all of Augusta; and Donella O'Gorman, Amarillo, TX; step-sons, Marcus Padgett, Downers Grove, IL and Darrell Keppner, Pahrump, NV; step-daughter, Verna Padgett, Pahrump, NV; brother, Lynn of El Dorado and sisters, Lois Chance, Bert Alfaro, both of Augusta and Kay Hill, Home, KS. He is also survived by 20 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Gerry Berger and 2 grandsons. Visitation 10 until service time at 2 p.m. Saturday, September 11, 2004 at Headley Funeral Chapel, Augusta.

GOVENIUS, LENITA MARGARET "SKEET"

Lenita Margaret "Skeet" Govenius, 84, of Augusta, homemaker, died Tuesday, Jan 11, 1994, at AMCI Long Term Care. Services are 2 p.m. Friday at Dunsford Funeral Home. Burial will be in Elmwood Mausoleum.

She was born June 27, 1909, in Joplin, Mo. to Hiram Dodge and Coral Bell Douglas. On Feb. 24, 1940 she and Charles Govenius were married in El Dorado. He died Feb. 1, 1982.

Survivors include: son, Kenneth Biggs, of El Dorado; daughter, Pat Barker of Augusta; sister, Marvel Worhtington of Wichita; three grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren.

GRAHAM, ALTHA MILDRED

Altha Mildred Graham, 80, Hutchinson, sister of La Ree Watson of Augusta, died Saturday.

Services are set for 2 p.m. Tuesday in Dunsford Funeral Home. Rev. Burl Allison Jr., will officiate and burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery.

A memorial has been established with the United Methodist Church, Arkansas City.

Altha was born to Arthur and Edith Armstrong McVay on Dec. 2, 1901 in Augusta.

On May 26, 1920 she married Charles Burrell Graham in Oilton, Okla. He preceded her in death in 1979.

She held memberships in the Eastern Star and Rebekah Lodge.

Other survivors include two sons, don of Beatrice, Neb., and Joseph of Arkansas City, two daughters, Rhea Graham of Hutchinson and Nola McDill of Topeka; a brother, Wayne McVay of Wichita; another two sisters, Luella Harris of Overland Park, and Lyda Hunt of Elk City, Okla., seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

GRAY, AUDREY LOUIS WENDT DROUILLARD

AUGUSTA - Gray, Audrey Louise (Wendt) Drouillard, 84, passed away Sunday, September 28th, 2008. Viewing 1-8 Wednesday with family to greet friends from 6-8 and services 10 am Thursday, Oct. 2, 2008 all at Headley Funeral Chapel, Augusta. Burial will be at Elmwood Cemetery, Augusta.

Audrey was born in Elgin, KS on July 5, 1924; the daughter of the late Ralph F. and Corabelle (Terrell) Wendt. She was the financial secretary for Lakecrest Bible Baptist Church for 30 years, as well as being a homemaker who enjoyed gardening. Her first husband, Joe Drouillard Jr. preceded her in death in 1974 and on April 20, 1977 she married Leroy Gray in Augusta. She is survived by: husband, Leroy; son, Donald (Lisa) Gray of Wichita; daughter, Monica Drouillard of Winter Park, FL; grandchildren, Josiah, Jaedon, Noelle; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by brothers, Carl G. Wendt and Fredrick E. Wendt. Memorials donations to Lakecrest Bible Baptist Church or Victory in the Valley.
