FALWELL, HELEN L.
AUGUSTA, Kan. Helen L. Falwell, 52, of Augusta died Saturday.
She was born Dec. 19, 1911 in Altoona, Kan., and had lived in Augusta 25 years. She had worked at the Ben Franklin Variety Store. She was a member of the First Baptist Church, the Eastern Star, and White Shrine.
Survivors include two brothers, Foster Falwell and Roy Falwell, both of Augusta, and a sister, Mrs. Edith Clark of Augusta.
Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Monday at the Dunsford Funeral Home, with burial in Elmwood Cemetery in Augusta. (El Dorado Times, July 19, 1964)
FARNER, MARVENE
Marvene Farner, 88, died Tuesday, Feb. 6, 2007, at Lakepoint Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Augusta.
The Celebration of her life will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Feb. 9, at the Towanda United Methodist Church of Christ. Interment will follow at the Towanda Cemetery.
Marvene was born June 27, 1918 in Haddam, to Ulysses and Alice (Williams) Clark. Marvene married Ogden Farner on Aug. 2, 1937 in Washington, Kan. In 1951 they moved to Towanda and in 1973, they moved to Neosho, Mo., where they purchased and operated a motel. In 1983, the couple moved back to Towanda. Marvene loved to take care of her family, work puzzles and sew, having made her children's clothes as they were growing up.
Marvene is survived by: sons, Ted Farner of Texas, Lanny Farner of Augusta, and Denny (Linda) Farner of Mesa, Ariz.; 12 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ogden, and six brothers and sisters.

FEDER, ALMA E.
Amid a gently falling summer rain this morning, the body of Mrs. Alma E. Feder was laid to rest in Sunset Lawns Cemetery.
Services at Grace Lutheran church at 10 oclock drew an immense crowd of sorrowing relatives and friends. The church auditorium was packed, masses of seasonal flowers banked the chancel. The rites, conducted by Rev. Theodore Mueller, were eloquent in their tributes to the deceased as well as rich in promise to those of Christian faith.
The congregation joined in singing hymns, among them Abide With Me, The Lords My Shepherd and A Mighty Fortress is Our God. Mrs. M. C. Ewart, Jr., presided at the organ.
A long procession of cars followed the hearse to the cemetery where Rev. Mr. Mueller conducted a brief committal service.
Bearers were Arthur W. Schmidt, J. R. Schoffstall, Galen E. Blackmore, Floyd M. Gard, Donald E. Rader and J. A. Honer.
Honorary bearers included J. M. Baker, Harry E. Chambers, Ira E. Myers, L. M. Higgs, George S. Benson, Alvin Schmidt, Henry Anderson, George F. Bacon, Charles H. Harris, C. A. Elmborg, R. V. Struebing, and R. A. Clymer.
Ushers were Robert J. Bauer and Charles I. Dugone.

DeWayne Robert Feist, 40, Route 3, died Saturday at St. Francis Regional Medical Center in Wichita.
His service will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Faith Chapel in Wichita. Rev. Earl Pruitt will officiate. Graveside services sill be at 3 p.m. Tuesday at the Highland Cemetery in Winfield.
He was born Jan. 27, 1944 in Junction City to Bennie and Della Karrman Feist.
He married Mary Lucille Jacks. She survives.
He was a parking lot attendant at the Union National Bank in Wichita.

Darwin P. Feller, 49, Lake Charles La., son of Helen Feller and brother of Marguerite Robison, both of Leon, died there Saturday from injuries suffered in an industrial accident.
His service will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday at the Carlson Funeral Home in El Dorado. Msgr. Charles F. Walsh will officiate and burial will be in the Bella Vista Cemetery in El Dorado.
He was born in El Dorado Dec. 29, 1934 to Ray R. and Helen Wittenbrink Feller.
He married Barbara J. Peffley Sept. 20, 1953 in El Dorado. She survives.
Feller was a sales representative for Johnson-Macco.

Helen A. Feller, 86, of Leon died Sunday at Susan B. Allen Memorial Hospital. Services are scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the Leon Christian Church. Burial will be in Walnut Valley Memorial Park.
Mrs. Feller was born Oct. 8, 1898, at Dortmund, Germany, the daughter of Wilheim and Sophia Longhren Wittenbrink. She and Ray Roy Feller were married Dec. 11, 1915, at Nevada, Mo. Mr. Feller died Dec. 20, 1977.
Mrs. Feller had lived in Leon since 1970, moving there from Bronaugh, Mo., where she had made her home for 10 years. She had lived in El Dorado before moving to Missouri.
She was a member of the Leon Christian Church.
Survivors include one son, Wendell Feller, El Dorado, two daughters, Marguerite Robison, Leon, and RaDean Lipscomb, Tucson, Ariz., one brother, Herman Wittenbrink, and one sister, Marle McMichael, both of Nampa, Idaho, 14 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, one son, Darwin, and one brother.

Services for Mrs. Audrey Ellen Fellers, 27, 2014-1/2 West Central, a waitress at the AmVets Club, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Central Christian Church, Caldwell. Burial will be in Caldwell City Cemetery.
Mrs. Fellers died Thursday morning when the car she was driving hit a guard rail and overturned after going off the Kansas Turnpike approximately a half mile east of the South Wichita exit.
Born in Renfrow, Okla., she had lived in Wichita before moving to El Dorado.
Survivors include a son, Phillip D., and two daughters, Renee Lynn and Cindy Sue, all of the home; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Arterburne, Caldwell, four brothers, Wayne Arterburen and Larry Arterburen, both of Chicago, and T. Isla Marie Fennell, 86, a resident of Walnut Valley Manor nursing home, died there Wednesday.

She was born March 22, 1898 in Butler County to George and Addie Dooley Harrison.
She married Herbert E. Fennell. He preceded her in death.

She was born in El Dorado and moved to Winfield in 1917. her husband, Thomas Roy, died in 1947. Survivors include a sister, Mrs. William G. Brunton, Winfield.

Loyd E. Fesler, 61, Des Plaines, Ill, and formerly of El Dorado, died Sunday. Funeral services will be at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at Kirby Funeral Home. Burial will be at Walnut Valley Memorial Park.
Mr. Fesler was a resident of El Dorado from 1933 to 1943 and held several positions with Cities Service Pipeline Co. After residing is several other cities he moved to Des Plaines in 1954 where he was manager of Badger Pipeline Co.
Mr. Fesler was born at Uncas, Okla.

Graveside services for Daniel Raymond Fike, 74, 640 Santa Fe, were at 1 p.m. today at the Resthaven Gardens of Memory in Wichita. He died Thursday at the Augusta Medical Complex.

He was born June 8, 1886 at Franklin, Pa. And lived in Augusta since 1960, moving here from Hatton, Ark. He was a member of the Evangelical Church, and the Steamfitter Local, Lake Charles, La.
Survivors include his widow, Millie Elizabeth, two daughters, Mrs. J. B. Morrison, Westlake, La., and Mary Lou Flemming, Augusta; a son, Thomas N., Augusta, and five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

FLIPPEN DOVIE MAY
Dovie Mae Flippen, age 88, of El Dorado, died Thursday morning, Nov. 23, 1989 at Susan B. Allen Memorial Hospital. Service: 2 p.m. Monday at Carlsons Colonial Chapel. Burial follows at Walnut Valley Memorial Park.
She was born Aug. 20, 1901, at Haworth, Okla. She married Tom B. Flippen, Oct. 2, 1940, at Pauls Valley, Okla. He died Jan. 31, 1965. They came to El Dorado in 1941, from Eureka. Mrs. Flippen was a homemaker and also had worked as a stock clerk for Woolworths.
She was a member of Park Avenue Baptist Church, and was a charter member of the Women of the Moose.
She is survived by six daughters, Katie M. Collier of McAlester, Okla., Laverne Hanes of El Dorado, Irene Bender of El Dorado, Betty Jane Wilson of Wichita, Mary Alice Phillips of Torrance, Calif., and Bobbie Coleman of El Dorado, 23 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren also survive.
She was also preceded in death by her first husband, Sidney Coleman and son, Charles E. Coleman. (El Dorado Times, Nov. 24, 1989)

Billy Ray Flowers, 61, El Dorado, formerly of Towanda, died Thursday evening, Dec. 21, 1989 at Knutson Manor Nursing Center. Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 26 at Carlson Colonial Chapel. Burial will follow in Walnut Valley Memorial Park.
He was born Dec. 3, 1928 at Brock, Okla., the son of Homer and Glessie Tatum Flowers. He was an oil production superintendent and formerly owned Flowers Well Service and Towanda Well Service. He lived in this area for the past 20 years, moving here from Peabody. He retired in August 1989.
He was a member of the Church of God Interational, Wichita; K.I.O.G.A., Oklahoma Oil and Gas Association, Well Service Contractors Association, and a former member of the Moose and Elks lodges.
He was married to Arlene Hickman in Stillwater, Okla., on Feb. 7, 1950.
Survivors include his wife, Arlene of the home, a son, Dallas, El Dorado, two daughters, Debbie Wadrick and Becky Baker both of El Dorado, his mother Glessie Flowers, El Dorado, two brothers, Marvin Flowers of Chester, Calif., and Robert Flowers, of Chickasha, Okla., three sisters, Alma Schote of Red Bluff, Calif., Bobbie Stokes of El Dorado and Alice J. Flowers of Texas and five grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father.

Rebecca Becky R. (Hendricks) Foulk, 42, of Newton, formerly of Potwin, died Friday, Feb. 15, 1991. Services will be 2 p.m. Monday at United Methodist Church in Potwin.
She was born March 27, 1948, in El Dorado to Jim and Helen Hendricks. She graduated from Remington High School in 1966.
On April 14, 1967, she and Brad Lee Foulk were married in Potwin.
She was a quality control inspector for Beech Aircraft and was on the board of directors at Wheatstate Manor in Whitewater. She was a member of the Potwin United Methodist Church.
Survivors include husband, Brad Lee, son Douglas of Saudi Arabia; daughter, Shellie Chaffee of Newton, parents Jim and Helen Hendricks of Potwin, brothers, Sheldon Hendricks of Potwin, Ted Hendricks of Scranton, Kan., sisters, Barbara Daub of Newton, Elizabeth Emmons of Cassoday, Helen Hendricks of Potwin, two grandchildren.

Ferrell C. Fowler, 78, of Wichita, died Tuesday, July 9, 1991. Services will be 2:30 p.m. Friday at Sunset Lawns Cemetery.
He was born Dec. 23, 1912, in El Dorado to Frank A. Fowler and Flora Mae (Mammie) Oliver.
On Sept. 22, 1935, he and Thelma M. Tallant were married in El Dorado. He served in the U.S. Navy in WWII and was retired from the permit department of the Orange County, Calif., Highway Department.
Survivors include wife, Thelma, daughter, charlotte F. Capo of Sugar Land, Texas, brother, Lowell Fowler of Topeka; three grandchildren, two great-grandchildren.

FOWLER, LLOYD R.
Lloyd R. Fowler, 76, of 405 South Summit street, a retired farmer and carpenter and life long resident of Butler county died Sunday evening at Allen Memorial Hospital after being suddenly stricken during the afternoon.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Dietz-Pittman colonial chapel, with the Rev. Orville Hess, pastor of the First Church of the Nazarene, officiating. Burial will be in Walnut Valley Memorial Park cemetery with military rites at the graveside.
Mr. Fowler was born six miles southwest of El Dorado on April 9, 1891. He was married to Alma Durham on Nov. 27, 1919, at Fairbury, Neb. He was a veteran of World War I, serving overseas with the United States Army.
Surviving are his wife, of the home, two sons, Roland Wayne Fowlr, 229 Oil Hill Road, and Eugene Fowler of Huron, S. D., five daughters, Mrs. Geraldine Gorzkiewicz and Mrs. Helen Storey, both of Fort Walton Beach, Fla., Mrs. Pauline Travnicek and Mrs. Maxine Reichert, both of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Mrs. Betty Brickley, 122 North Emporia street a brother, Charles Fowler, 114 South Orchard Street, a sister, Mrs. Effie Waldorf of El Dorado Route 3. There are 15 grandchildren.

Byron Earl Freeman, 68, retired Cessna employee, died Nov. 19, 1991, in Corpus Christi, Texas.
He was born Aug. 25, 1923 and was raised in the Leon area. He and Mona Snider were married in 1967.

FRERKING MARY ALICE (HIGDON)
Mary Alice (Higdon) Frerking, age 82, of Whitewater, died Monday, Sept. 4, 1989, at Whitewater. She was a homemaker, ex school teacher, and published poet.
Services: Thurday, 2 p.m. Federated Church of Whitewater, with the Rev. Dick Weaver officiating. Burial: Whitewater Cemetery. Lamb-Nutter Mortuary of Whitewater is in charge of arrangements.
She was born Oct. 5, 1906, at Potwin, the daughter of the Rev. James H. and Nellie (Holmes) Higdon. She married Harold Claus Frerking, May 26, 1926 at Whitewater. He preceded her in death.
She was raised in Whitewater, and lived at Elbing from 1926 to 1943, when she returned to live in the Whitewater community.
Before marriage, Mrs. Frerking taught in some of the Butler County schools. She was well known for her poetry. A book of her poems was published. She was a member of the Federated Church of Whitewater, the National Poets Society, and the Kansas Sate Society of Published Poets.
Survivors: one son, Harold John Frerking of Whitewater, two daughters, Anita Rose Hall of Dayton, Ohio, and Donna Marie Osburn of Wichita, sister, Elsie Smith of Kansas City, Mo., eight grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren.

FROST, FRED E.
Services for Fred E. Frost, 87, who died Wednesday, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Dunsford Funeral Home.
He was born in Illinois and came to this area in 1888. he was a retired employee of Cities Service Oil Co., and a member of the Methodist Church.

FRY, ROBERT H.
Services for Robert H. Fry, 63, of Tyler, Texas, formerly of El Dorado, retired Douglas Aircraft electronics technician and World War II Navy veteran were held March 15. He died Wednesday, March 13, 1991.
Survivors include wife Doris, sons, Timothy Bishop of Wichita, Church Price of Tyler, Gene Price of Arp, Texas; daughters, Marie Click of Tyler, Karen Robinson of Fontana, Calif., brother, Carl of Monterey Park, Calif., sisters, Juanita Runnells, Clara Garr, both of Kingman, Marjorie Miller of Wichita, 18 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren. FRYE, EUGENE E.
Eugene E. Frye, 67, of Clearwater, retired Beech Aircraft Corp, semi-truck driver, died Tuesday, July 16, 1991. Services will be 2 p.m. Friday at Clearwater cemetery.
Survivors include wife, Patsy, sons Darrell Combs of Tampa, Fla., Neal Combs of Inman, daughter Donna Howerton of Wichita; stepson, David Davis of Wichita; stepdaughters, Teresa Murphy of Towanda, Sharon Morey of Mulvane, brother, Glenn of Haddam, sister, Fern Gillett of Belleville, 11 grandchildren.

AUGUSTA, Kan - Services for Mrs. Nannie Fudge, 88, long time resident who died Wednesday, will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Dunsford Funeral Home.
Survivors include three sons, William, El Dorado, Leroy, Augusta and Grover, Exeter, Mo.; three daughters, Mrs. Lucille Mauk, Pharr, Tex., Mrs. Mildred Fontier, Pueblo, Colo., and Mrs. Pauline Sisson, Richland, Mo., and a sister, Mrs. Lisa Jane Allison, Bartlesville, Okla. FULLER, HAROLD E.
Harold E. Fuller, 84, of El Dorado, died Thursday, Oct. 10, 1991 at Susan B. Allen Hospital. Services were held on Saturday afternoon at the Lone Tree Cemetery in Stuttgart, Ark.
He was born May 30, 1907 in Peckham, Okla., to Joseph C. and Edith M. Cline Fuller. He worked for U.S. Steel in Ohio for 25 years and was a member of the Stuttgart Southern Baptist church. He moved to El Dorado nine years ago. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII.
Survivors include: wife, Clara, of El Dorado, sister, Alma Sheddy of Alva, Okla.

FULLINWIDER, MARIE (MRS. BURGESS H.)
Mrs. Burgess H. (Marie) Fullinwider, 75, Route 1, insurance woman and realtor, died Sunday at Wesley Medical Center, Wichita. She operated the Fullinwider Agency, 210 West Central.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at the First United Presbyterian Church. Interment will be in Sunset Lawns cemetery.
A lifetime resident of Butler County, she was born February 2, 1896, northeast of Leon. She graduated from El Dorado High School in 1914 and attended Southwestern College, Winfield.
She and Mr. Fullinwider were married September 3, 1918, here.
A member of the First United Presbyterian Church, she taught Sunday school class for many years. She was also a member of the Insurance Women of El Dorado and the Butler County Board of Realtors.
Survivors include her husband, Burgess of the home; three sons, Robert D. Fullinwider, Wichita, Charles M. Fullinwider, Dexter, N.M., and James L. Fullinwider, Route 1, one sister, Mrs. Joe Collins, Hollywood, Calif., and ten grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one brother, Charles Eckel.
A memorial fund has been established at the First United Presbyterian Church.

FULMER, GLENNA J.
Glenna J. Fulmer, 57, of El Dorado, died Saturday morning, Oct. 24, 1987 at her home after a lengthy illness. Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Trinity Episcopal Church. Burial will follow the services in Sunset Lawns Cemetery.
She was born Nov. 29, 1929 at Carthage, Mo., the daughter of Moses and Hattie Harding McWilliams. She grew up in El Dorado and lived in Houston for many years, returning to El Dorado in 1979.
She was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church and the D. A. R. and a former member of the Order of the Eastern Star, E. M. B. and the Ladies Golf Association.
On Aug. 1, 1948 she married Gene Fulmer at El Dorado.
Survivors include her husband, Gene of the home; a son, Mark Fulmer of Madison, Kan., her mother, Mattie Harding of Augusta; one brother, Larry McWilliams of Augusta; and two sisters, Wanda Austin of Houston and Barbara McCullough of Augusta.
She was preceded in death by her father and one brother.

Services for Glenna J. (Mrs. Gene) Fulmer, 57, of El Dorado, were held Monday morning, Oct. 26, 1987 at the Trinity Episcopal Church. Burial followed the services in the Walnut Valley Memorial Park. Mrs. Fulmer died Saturday, Oct. 24, at her home after a lengthy illness.
Father Leonard Evans and Father Willy E. Neustrom officiated at the services. Mrs. Mee Lee, at the organ, played selected music for the prelude and the postlude. The church choir sang selected music.
Casket bearers were Bill Brogdon, Bob Scott, Bill McCartney, Phil Arnold, Floyd Britting and Bill Amend. Honorary bearers were Jim Augustine, George Short, Mike Hamm, C. R. McClelland, Wayne McClelland and Emil Schneider.
Mrs. Fulmer was born Nov. 29, 1929 at Carthage, Mo., the daughter of Moses and Hattie Hedworth McWilliams. She married Gene Fulmer Aug. 1, 1948.
Those who survive include her husband, Gene of the home; a son, Mark Fulmer of Madison, Kan., her mother, Hattie Harding of Augusta; one brother, Larry McWilliams of Augusta; and two sisters, Wanda Austin of Houston and Barbara McCulloch of Augusta.

FUNK, DORIS (ZEHR)
Doris (Zehr) Funk, 73, of Wichita, retired W. T. Grant Co., employee and sister of Ruby McCreight of El Dorado, died Sunday, Dec. 27, 1987. Services are 11 a.m. Wednesday at Byrd-Snodgrass Funeral Home.
Survivors include daughter, Judy Streeter of Wichita, sisters, Helen Thornton of Wichita, Ruby McCreight of El Dorado; one grandchild. Memorial has been established with St. Pauls United Methodist Church library and the American Heart Association. (El Dorado Times, Dec. 29, 1987)
FURMAN, ROSE ETHEL (MRS. EARL)
NEWTON, Kan. Mrs. Rose Ethel Furman, 72, longtime Newton area resident, died Wednesday.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Draper Funeral Home.
Born at Burr Oak, Kan., she was a member of the First United Presbyterian church, Zenith, Kan., and Order of Eastern Star.
Survivors include her widower, Earl, two sons, Lewis Zongker, Klickatat, Wash., and Loren M. Zongker, Augusta, Kan.; two brothers, Walter Oglevie, Sheridan, Ore., and Lineous Oglevie, Salem, Ore., and a sister, Mrs. Paul Printy, Springfield, Mo. (The Wichita Eagle, December 21, 1967, Thursday)
FURR, NELLIE
Nellie Furr, 89, of Seiling, Okla., died Monday, April 25, 1987. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday in the First United Methodist Church of Seiling. Burial will follow in the Seiling Cemetery.
She was the mother of Lloyd Furr of Leon and Karen Lomax of El Dorado.
She was born July 25, 1897 at Jonesburg, to Tuck and Emily Mayfield. Her family moved to eastern Oklahoma when she was young. She was a schoolteacher prior to her marriage to George Furr, Dec. 15, 1921.
In the early 1930s they moved to Seiling. She was a member of the Seiling First United Methodist Church.
Survivors include three sons, Lloyd of Leon, Harold of Tecumseh, Okla, and Dale Furr of Manila, Phillippines, four daughters, Melba Jo Robinson of Oklahoma City, Velva Joyce Rice of Overland Park, Darlene Stidham of Talota; Okla., Karen Lomax of El Dorado, 14 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one son.
Memorial has been established with the Area Medical Foundation at Seiling. Redinger Funeral Home of Seiling is in charge of arrangements. (El Dorado Times, May 26, 1987)
