Marvin K. Barnes, 79, Augusta, retired barber and barber instructor, passed away on Wednesday, Nov. 1, 2006.
Viewing will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Friday, with family to greet friends from 7 to 8 p.m. at Headley Funeral Chapel, Augusta.
Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 4, at the Augusta Church of Christ. Burial will be at Elmwood Cemetery, Augusta.
Marvin was born on May 28, 1927 in Morrowville, the son of the late Verlin Amos and Mildred (Yeager) Barnes. He served in the United States Navy during World War II and Korea, and was a member of the American Legion and VFW. On Feb. 1, 1950, he married Martha Heberly in Minneapolis, Kan. She survives.
Other survivors include: sons, Keith Barnes and his wife, Sharon of El Dorado and Roger Barnes and his wife, Aletha of Augusta; brother, Leroy Barnes of Topeka; grandchildren, Briony Barnes and Mallory Morton and her husband, Alan.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Dorothy Barnes.

James Francis Fanning, 73, of El Dorado, died Aug. 6, at home. Services have already been held.
He was born Nov. 9, 1926 to Lloyd and Mary (Burns) Fanning in Melvery. He was married to Margaret Marshall.
He was a highway patrolman and farmer.
Survivors include his wife, sons, Danny Fanning of Neosho, Mo., Kyle Fanning of Oklahoma City, Okla., and James F. Fanning, of Dexter, daughters, Shirley Taylor of Ottawa, Gaylene Sanders of Kansas City, Mo., and Elizabeth Powell of Wichita, a brother Rex Fanning, sisters, Colleen Rice and JoAnne Arb and several grandchildren.

Carl Douglas (Doug) Fee, 62, of Independence, and a former El Dorado resident, died Wednesday, June 22, 2005, at his home in Independence. There will be no services.
He was born Sept. 8, 1942, at Stafford, the son of John and Helen (Mock) Fee. Doug graduated from El Dorado High School in 1960, and from Emporia with a degree in psychology. He was an electrician and specialist with Southwestern Bell Telephone where he was a regional manager.
There are no immediate survivors.

James H. "Jim" Fehing, 81, of Augusta, retired pharmacist, passed away Friday, Nov. 3, 2006 at his home after battling a terminal lung disease.
A celebration of his life will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 7, 2006 at Headley Funeral Chapel, Augusta.
There will be no visitation. A private burial will be at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, in Missouri.
Jim was born in Wheaton, Missouri on Feb. 24, 1925. He was the son of the late Henry R. and Velma Margaret (West) Fehring. They moved to Joplin, Mo. when James was 6 months old. He attended Joplin High School and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Joplin, Mo.
He enlisted in the United States Army in 1943 and served 2 1/2 years in WWII in the South Pacific. In September 1947, he entered The University of Kansas City Pharmacy School and graduated in June 1950. He was called back to Pusan, Korea where he opened a dispensary to handle sick call for 35,000 troops.
He met Beulah Mary Leggett of Oronogo, Mo. in 1945 and married the love of his life on Nov. 1st, 1946. They owned 4th Street Pharmacy and worked together in the pharmacy from 1957-1968. Jim retired as the Chief Pharmacist of the Coffeyville Memorial Hospital in December 1986. In December 1989, Jim and Mary moved to Augusta. They celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on Nov. 1st, 2006.
James enjoyed swimming, bowling, playing tennis and spending time with his family and grandchildren.
He was a member of the Keystone Lodge #102 of Coffeyville, Masonic Lodge, Shriners of Pittsburg, KS and the Scottish Rite of Wichita.
James will be forever loved by his wife, Mary; his son and daughter-in-law, Jim and Debbie of Haslet, Texas; his daughter and son-in-law, Maggie and Steve Duncan of Augusta; his pride and joy granddaughters, Katie and Jaymie Duncan; his "little buddy," great-grandson, Lane Michael Duncan and his favorite aunt, Ruth Nutt of Denver, CO.
He is also survived by his brother, Bob Fehring of Topeka and sisters, Betty Meadows and Ruth Ann Shelton of Joplin, Mo.

Bobby Lee Feller, age 58, died Saturday, June 24, 1989 in Saudi Arabia. Graveside services will be held in Piedmont, Mo.
Mr. Feller was born Jan. 16, 1931, at El Dorado, the son of M. C. and Leta (Dees) Feller. He married Pat Lucy, July 9, 1951, at Piedmont. She survives.
He was retired from the Army Air Force and had worked overseas at different times since.

Clinton D. Feller, 80, of Derby, and formerly of Towanda and El Dorado, died Tuesday, Jan. 3, 2006 at Viat Christi St. Francis Hospital in Wichita. Services are 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 6, 2006 at the Madison Ave. Methodist Church in Derby. Graveside services will be held Friday afternoon at 2 p.m. at the Walnut Valley Memorial Park Cemetery in El Dorado.
Mr. Feller was born June 29, 1925, in Bornaugh, Mo., the son of Maurice and Leta (Dees) Feller. Clinton and his family moved to El Dorado when he was young. He grew up in El Dorado and graduated from El Dorado High School in 1943. He then attended the College of Idaho. Clinton served his country in the United States Army Air Force during World War II. He was a staff sergeant stationed in Italy. Clinton was united in marriage to Nelda I. Hathaway on July 6, 1946 in the El Dorado First United Methodist Church Chapel. He was employed by Cities Service and Oxy Oil Company for more than 37 years as an instrumentalist. He retired in 1987. Clinton and his family lived in El Dorado, Towanda and Derby.
He was a very active member of the Madison Ave. Methodist Church of Derby. He also was a member of the Lions Club in Towanda. He enjoyed working with wood and all types of clocks and watches. He made several wood crafted items for his church. He was a man who loved the outdoors and spending time teasing his family and friends.
Survivors include: his wife of 59 years, Nelda of the home; three sons, Kenny Feller and Dean Feller both of Wichita and Scott Feller of Derby; one brother, Don Feller of Abilene; three sisters, Gene Lill and Pat Durnil, both of El Dorado and Jo Dennis of Abilene and three grandchildren, Melissa Feller, Clinton E. Feller and Kevin Feller.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Bob Feller and Jerry Feller.

Jerald K. Jerry Feller, 62, of El Dorado, died Wednesday, Jan. 24. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 27, at Kirby-Morris Funeral Home.
He was born May 31, 1938 to M. C. and Leta M. (Dees) Feller. He was a graduate of El Dorado High School. He moved ot Phoenix, Ariz., and lived there a number of years, returning to El Dorado in 1991 to help take care of his mother and also worked for Wal-Mart.
Survivors include a son, Chriss Feller of Coolidge, Ariz., a daughter, Cindy McGraugh of Coolidge, Ariz., brothers, Clinton Feller of Derby and Donald Feller of Abilene, sisters, Jo Dennis of Abilene and Jean Lill and Pat Durnil of El Dorado; and two grandchildren.

Scott was born Dec. 29, 1960 in El Dorado, the son of Clinton D. and Nelda I. (Hathaway) Feller.

Nan Lee Ferguson, 98, of Payson, Ariz., and a former long time El Dorado resident, died Sunday, Oct. 28, 2001 in Payson. Private family services will be held.
She was born June 28, 1903 to Joe L. and Francis (Bybee) Lee in Murdock. She was a homemaker and taught school before he rmarriage to Samuel Russell Ferguson on Jan 1, 1925. She spent most of her married life in El Dorado. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in El Dorado.
Survivors include daughters, Carol Peters of Fontana, Calif., and Janice (Jan) Lurie of Payson; a sister, Nadine Hughbanks of Wichita; six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband on October 29, 2000; her parents; four sisters and one brother.

Samuel Russell Ferguson, 98, a former El Dorado resident, died Sunday, Oct. 29, in Payson, Ariz. There will be no local services.
He was born Dec. 11, 1901 in St. Louis, Mo., and attended high school in Carnegie, Okla., and a business college in Chilicothe, Mo.
He worked as a telegrapher for the Santa Fe Railroad most of his working life. He was a lifelong active member of the First Baptist Church in El Dorado. After his retirement, he was active in the Meals on Wheels program in El Dorado.
On Jan. 1, 1925, he was married to Nan Lee Bybee in Carnegie. They lived in El Dorado for 61 years, moving to Wichita in 1988, where they resided at Prairie Homestead, a retirement facility. They moved to Payson, Ariz., in 1998 to be near their daughter.
Survivors include: his wife of 75 years of Payson; daughters, Janice F. Lurie of Payson and Carol Peters of Fontana, Calif.; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Charles Harold Fillmore, 88, of El Dorado, died Monday, June 20, 2005, at his home. Services will be 10 a.m. Friday, June 24, at Carlson Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Sunset Lawns Cemetery
He was born March 9, 1917, the son of Albert and Bertha Brent Fillmore. He had lived in Butler County all of his life except for the time spent in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was a retired worker at Skelly, Getty and Texaco.
He married Elizabeth Louise Purdom on Sept. 28, 1941 in El Dorado. She preceded him in death Aug. 17, 1999.
He was a member of First Baptist Church and the American Legion.
Survivors include his daughter, Karyl Casady of El Dorado; grandsons Steve, David and Mark Casady; his twin brother, Gerald Fillmore of Plano, Texas; a sister, Marjorie Fillmore of El Dorado. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; one daughter, Cheryl Christine; one sister, Geneva; two brothers, George and Maurice; and a nephew, Dennis.

Mrs. Carrie G. Finley, Latham, a great-grandmother of 72, died Sunday afternoon at the age of 93.
Mrs. Finley who left a total of 107 descendents, was born Oct. 30, 1868, in Iola, Illinois and had resided in the Latham area since 1914.
She had been in failing health for several years.
Mrs. Finley left Illinois in 1906 and lived for a time in Oklahoma City. She moved to Missouri and from there to Kansas in 1914.
She was married August 25, 1887 in Iola to William R. Finley, who died in 1953.
She was a Johovah Witness.
Surviving are six sons, Ray Earl, Oklahoma City, Percy C., Burbank, Calif., William L., Jr., Brookings, Ore., B. D., Dewey, Okla., and V. L., Latham; two daughters, Mrs. Merna Kirkpatrick, Leon, and Mrs. Verda Hart, Latham; 26 grandchildren, 72 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild. Two sons and two daughters preceded her in death.

He was born Nov. 27, 1936 at Latham, the son of Vernie and Mary (Hart) Finley. He was a farmer and stockman and spent all his life in Latham. On May 22, 1980 he was united in marriage to Joyce (Province) Lambing in Miami, Okla.

Mary Emma Finley, 99, longtime Latham resident, died Thursday afternoon at Lakepoint Nursing Home in Rose Hill. Services are 1 p.m. Tuesday at Carlson Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Latham Cemetery.
She was born Nov. 11, 1906, in Labette County, the daughter of Jacob and Elsie Leiss Hart. She came to Latham at two years of age and lived there for 94 years. On Dec. 10, 1924, she married Vernie Finley at the courthouse in El Dorado. Emma was a farmer's wife and contributed to the work on the farm. She always raised a big garden and canned vegetables. She sewed most of her clothes and her children's. She was always a hard worker and could do most everything her husband could do. Vernie preceded her in death Feb. 5, 1999. She lived on the farm until 2002, when she had to go to the nursing home.
Survivors include: son, Gilbert Finley of Winfield; daughters, Velma Creed of Wellington, Sonya Knowles of Wichita and Patricia Craig of Latham; 18 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; and many great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Delbert; and brother, John Hart.

Mrs. Walter S. Finley, 77, of 1312 South High, died at Allen Memorial Hospital Sunday following a lengthy illness.
Funeral servcies will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, August 8 at the Kirby Funeral Home chapel. Derrel W. Shaw of the Church of Christ will officiate and burial will be in Sunset Lawns Cemetery.
Mrs. Finley resided in El Dorado for 38 years, coming here from Buffalo, Kansas. She was born May 18, 1884, at Buffalo, and married Mr. Finley on June 7, 1935 at Yates Center. She was a member of the Church of Christ.
Surviving are her husband, one daughter, Mrs. Norris Lane of Wichita; one brother, Russell Brown of Chanute, two grand-children and four great-grandchildren. One daughter preceded Mrs. Finley in death. (El Dorado Times, August 6, 1961)

Vernie Finley was born in Illinois April 7, 1903. Having lived in several states, he moved to Kansas in 1915. He is a retired farmer.
Emma (Hart) Finley was born in Labette County, Kansas November 11, 1906. At age 2, she moved 6-1/2 miles east of Latham, on the Leiss place, later known as the Hart farm. This farm was homesteaded many years ago by her Grandpa Leiss's brother.
On December 10, 1924, Vernie and Emma were married at El Dorado, Kansas. They have five children, Velma (Finley) Creed, born October 17, 1925 and now lives on a farm near Wellington, Kansas; Gilbert Finley was born September 10, 1927, and now lives in Wichita. She is a housewife. Delbert Finley, born November 27, 1936, is a farmer near Latham. Patricia (Finley) Craig, born November 12, 1938, is a farmer's wife and lives near Latham.
Vernie and Emma spent the first year six miles north of Latham in a tenant house on Katie Ramp's farm -- which has been gone for quite a few years. Then they lived about three years on the farm where Dott Ramp lives, and about seven years on the Cheever place near Cambridge, Kansas. Vernie L. Finley, 95, of Latham, died Friday, February 5, 1999 at Beverly Health and Rehabilitation. Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday and Carlson Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Latham Cemetery.
He was born April 7, 1903 at Iola, Illinois to William R. and Carrie G. Smith FInley. He came to this area in 1914, and was a farmer and rancher. He was a former member of Woodmen of America.
On Dec. 10, 1924, he married Mary Emmoline Hart at El Dorado. She survives.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Gilbert Finley of Winfield, and Delbert Finley of Latham; three daughters, Velma Creed of Wellington, Sonya Knowles of Wichita, and Patricia Craig of Latham; 18 grandchildren and a number of great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by five brothers and three sisters.

Walter S. Finley was a residen tof El Dorado for almost fifty years, and during that half century made countless friends. He was an avid golfer of considerable ability, and turned to fishing after he was no longer able to play his favorite game.
Mr. Finley was a valued employee of the American Petrofina company here before his retirement. He served with the armed forces during World War II . He was a mbmer of the Church of Christ and was active in the Capt. Edgar Dale post of the American Legion.

Walter S. Finley, 79, of 1312 South High, died April 20 at Susan B. Allen Memorial hospital. Mr. Finley was born May 26, 1892 in Lone Rock, Ark. He came to El Dorado in the mid-1920's from eastern Kansas. He was married to Mattie Brown Fisher who died in 1961. He was retired from the American Petrofina of Texas co. Mr. Finley was a member of the Church of Christ, and served in the Army in World War I.
Survivors include three brothers, Jackson, Broken Arrow, Okla., Mastin, Norfolk, Ark., and Robert, Lone Rock.
Services were held Monday afteroon in Dietz Colonial chapel. Rev. Harold Griffin, pastor of the Church of Christ, officiated. Volcalists were Beverly Caldwell, Loreta Mason, Marian Shuman, Peggy Starner and Colette Stewart.
Casket bearers were Everett Garman, Marion Shuman, Howard Husley, Paul Bisagno, Orval Andrews and J. M. Johnson.
Honorary bearers were Roy Wallace, Raymond Krutsinger, Virgil Godding, Paul Schroeder, C. L. Brown, Stanford Brown, J. Clyde Mattox, Cecil Wilcox, Dewey Junkins, Leonard Malcolm, Mervyn Wiltshire, and Orville A. Kent.

Gladys Ione Freese, 84, of Whitewater, died Tuesday, May 23, 2000 at Wheat State Manor in Whitewater. Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, May 26, 2000 at Carlson Funeral Home, El Dorado. Interment will be in Mt. Moriah Cemetery, Savonburg, at 3:30 p.m. on Friday, May 26, 2000.
She was born Dec. 8, 1915 in Green County, Ill., the daughter of John and Minnie (Kimzey) Showalter. At the age of six she moved with her family to a farm near Clearwater. She attended a country grade school and then graduated from Clearwater high School where she was second in her class. She became an accomplished piano player and played at many social gatherings during her early and middle teens.
On Sept. 13, 1934, she married Ernie Freese at Wichita. Shortly after her marriage she and Ernie moved to a farm near Savonburg. They continued to live on the farm until July 1966, when they moved to Arkansas city. She took up babysitting for numerous people in Arkansas City.
Ernie died July 8, 1984 after he and Gladys celebrated their 50th anniversary. She continued to live in Arkansas City until deteriorating health caused her to move to assisted living in Augusta. In 1997, she moved to Wheat State Manor where she lived until her death.
She is survived by a son, Jim Freese of Wichita, daughter, Marilyn Caffrey of El Dorado, sister Miriam Harrington, Clearwater, grandchildren, Nikke Acklin of Park City, Nancy Basquez of rural Augusta, Terri Scott of El Dorado, Tammy Gilboux of Plano, Texas, and Brian Freeze of Granger, Texas and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two brothers.
Memorials in her memory for Wheat State Manor Sunflower Lane may be left or sent to Carlson Funeral Home, 200 S. Star, El Dorado, which is in charge of the services. (El Dorado Times, May 24, 2000)
Everett Kinsley, 95, of Augusta, went home to be with his Lord, Wednesday, Nov. 15th, 2006.
Viewing 2-8 p.m. Thursday, with family to greet friends from 6:30-8 p.m. at Headley Funeral Chapel, Augusta. Services 1:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 17, 2006 at First Baptist Church, Augusta. Burial in Elmwood Cemetery, Augusta.
Mr. Kinsley was born in Crocker, Mo. on Oct. 3, 1911, the son of Al and Theodosia Kinsley. Everett served in the U.S. Army during WWII in the Pacific and had been a Mobil Oil Refinery employee for over 42 years. He was a long time member of First Baptist Church of Augusta. On June 14, 1935 he married Hazel Daniels in Richland, Missouri. She survives.
He is also survived by a daughter, Janelle Anderson and her husband Jack of Beaumont, Texas.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Ray.

Judie K. Walker, 63, former clerk for Scott's Liquor and Ewalt's Liquor, of Augusta, passed away Sunday, Nov. 5, 2006.
Viewing 2-8 p.m. Tuesday, family to greet friends from 6-8 p.m., and services 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 8, all at Headley Funeral Chapel, Augusta. Burial will be at Walnut Valley Memorial Park in El Dorado.
Judie was born in Augusta on June 19, 1943, the daughter of the late Irwin and Esther (Arnold) Blake. On March 9, 1974 she married David D. Walker in Augusta. He survives.
Other survivors include: sons, Kenneth Allen and Todd Allen and his wife Brenda, both of El Dorado; step-daughters, Karen Poff and her husband Tim, of Carrolton, Texas and Donna Hennette and her husband Richard of Wichita; brothers, Donald Blake and his wife Charlotte of Augusta and David Blake and his wife Ruby of Russell; sister, Joyce Sudduth of Augusta, 11 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by: her first husband, Larry Kenneth Allen, step-son, Mike Walker and a step-daughter, Jan Walker.
