Godfrey Cemetery

According to information dated May 1941, the following persons were buried in an orchard on the farm owned by James Allen Godfrey and his sister, Nancy. The first burials were children of F. and Margaret Godfrey Gulley who died of smallpox they contracted on a train trip to visit their grandmother, Mrs. Godfrey. Margaret Godfrey Gulley was a sister of James Allen and Nancy Godfrey according to the 1880 Federal Cemetery of Fairview Township, Butler County, Kansas.

A.W. Hollett was the sweetheart of Miss Nancy Godfrey. The burials, copied on February 21, 1987, were made in the early 1880's.
