Mille E. (Mrs. Joe) Hake, 77, Buffalo, died Thursday. Services were to be at 1:30 p.m. today at the United Methodist Church in Buffalo.

Survivors include her husband, two brothers, Jesse Guiou of Buffalo and Clyde Guiou of Huntsville, Ala.; and three sisters, Martha Stoll of Buffalo, Minnie Abbott of El Dorado and Maude Guiou of Denver.

HALL, BETH

Beth Hall, 84, of El Dorado, died Thursday night, Oct. 20, 1994, at Christopher Manor Nursing Center. Services will be Monday at 2 p.m. in Walnut Valley Memorial Park.

She was born Feb. 3, 1910 in El Dorado, the daughter of Roy and Srella Fowler Balch and had lived in El Dorado for 40 years. She worked as a clerk at McClellan's.

On Sept. 12, 1951, she and Ben H. Hall were married in Nevada, Mo. He died Nov. 15, 1985.

HAMILTON, IRENE

Irene Hamilton, 68, of Eureka died Friday, June 3, 1994 at HCA Wesley Medical Center. Services are 3 p.m. Sunday at Campbell-Kelley Funeral Home with Rev. Wallace Wartick officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery.

She was born may 17, 1926, in Sedan, the daughter of Fred and Bertha (Smith) Petty and attended the Bellnap and rural Sedan schools. On Nov. 17, 1950, she and Lester Dale Hamilton were married in Eureka and they moved to Reece in 1962. He died Oct. 21, 1991. She was a homemaker and a member of the Reece Christian church.

Survivors include: sons, John of Eureka, Don of El Dorado, daughters, Kay Bogle of Franklin, Texas, Linda Larcom, Rhonda Hamilton, both of Reece, brothers, Roy Petty of Independence, Dean Petty of Wichita, 13 grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, son, Ronald and two brothers and four sisters.

HAMILTON, JOEL M.

Joel M. Hamilton, 96, of Cassoday, died Saturday, April 30, 1994 at Susan B. Allen Hospital. Services are 2 p.m. Thursday at Carlson Funeral Home in El Dorado. Burial will be in Cassoday Cemetery.

He was born Jan. 20, 1898 in Belvidere, Neb., the son of Benjamin and Minnie Barlow Hamilton. He was a farmer and rancher and had lived in the Cassoday area since 1916. On Oct. 5, 1923, he and Ola Rector were married in El Dorado.

Survivors include: wife, Ola; son, Dale of Cassoday, three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, two sisters, and one great-grandson. Memorials are to Cassoday United Methodist Church. (El Dorado Times, May 2, 1994)

HAMMONDS, MICHAEL R.

Michael R. Hammonds, 42, of El Dorado, died Saturday, Sept. 3, 1994, as the result of an automobile accident. Services are 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Carlson Funeral Home. Burial will be in Sunset Lawns Cemetery.

He was born May 2, 1952, in Winfield, the son of James and Hazel Stout Hammonds, and had lived in El Dorado since 1965. He was assistant manager for Automotive Parts Inc and a member of the Udall Methodist Church.

Survivors include; parents, Gene and Hazel Lynch of El Dorado; sisters, Carol Moore, Sandra Newton, both of El Dorado; grandmother, Beulah Rohmeyer of El Dorado.

Norma E. Hampton, 76, of Mulvane, homemaker, died Friday, Dec. 31, 1993. Services are 10 a.m. Tuesday in Kechi Cemetery.

HAND, JOHN "PAT"

John "Pat" Hand, 56, of New Orleans, La., formerly of El Dorado, died Thursday, May 19, 1994. Services will be 10 a.m. Monday at St. Louis Cathedral in New Orleans, La.

He was born Feb. 14, 1938, the son of C. J. and Mary Hand. He was a graduate of El Dorado High School and Oklahoma State University. He was employed with the State of Louisiana Museum System.

Survivors include: mother, Mary Hand of El Dorado, brothers, Tom of El Dorado, Jim of McPherson, Dick of Seguin, Texas.

He was preceded in death by his father.

HANKS, MARJORIE M.

Marjorie M. (Oliver) Hanks, 80, of Florence, died Friday, Jan. 28, 1994 at Peabody Memorial Living Center. Services are 10 a.m. Monday at Zeiner Funeral Home with Rev. Larry Timm officiating. Burial will be in Elmdale cemetery.

She was born April 19, 1913, in Severy and moved to Florence in 1972. She was an office employee for the City of Florence and a member of the Christian Church.

Survivors include: daughter, Beverly McCallum of Lebanon, N.J.; brother, Ralph Oliver of Oregon, three grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her second husband, Jay Hanks. (El Dorado Times, Jan. 29, 1994)

HARDING, WILMA PEARL

Graveside services for Wilma Pearl Harding, Eureka, were held today. She died Thursday. Burial will be in the Greenwood cemetery.

HARROD, IRENE V.

Irene Harrod, 61, Dies Thursday

Funeral services for Irene V. Harrod, 61, 1244 N. Washington will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. in St. John's Catholic Church. Mrs. Harrod died Thursday at her home.

Recitation of the Rosary will be held at 7:30 p.m. Friday at the Kirby-Morris Funearl Home. Graveside services will be held following the services on Saturday at 3 p.m. in Ellsworth cemetery.

Mrs. Harrod was born Dec. 22, 1918 in Clyde, the daughter of Edward and Delia LaClair Beauregard. She had previously married James Zouzas in Eureka and Charles Harrod in Cassoday. Both husbands preceded her in death.

Mrs. Harrod had lived in the El Dorado area since 1968, coming here from California. Prior to that she had lived most of her life in the Ellsworth and Condordia areas. She was a member of St. John's Catholic church.

Survivors include: two brothers, Leo Beauregard, El Dorado and Raymond Beauregard, Salina; three sisters, Mrs. Lillie Bessette, Concordia, Mrs. Betty Hanson, Liberal and Mrs. Ledia Desbrow, Salina; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a sister.

Jack A. Hartgraves, 75, of Tishomingo, Okla., formerly of Wichita, retired Groendyke Transport Truck Driver, died Monday, June 20, 1994. Services are 2 p.m. Thursday at First Christian church in Pawnee, Okla.

Survivors include: wife, Carol, sons, Roger of Tucumcari, N.M., Jack Jr. of Potwin, sister, Veda Earhart of Pine Bluff, Ark.; six grandchildren, one great-grandchild.

HAWORTH, HUNTSMAN

Huntsman, Haworth, whose death in Wichita was recorded last week and Mrs. Haworth were at one time residents of El Dorado. An independent geologist, Mr. Haworth was unofficially accredited with finding more than $500 million worth of oil during his career which began in 1916. In 1966 he was honored at the American Association of Petroleum Geologists semi-centenial meeting as one of the forty living founders of that organization. Surviving are his widow, Ruby; a son, Henry Huntsman, Haworth, Jr., a brother and sister, Paul of Washington, D. C. and Mrs. Rose Gidney, Jacksonville, Florida. (El Dorado Times, May 11, 1972)

Roy M. Heath, 86, Salina Dies

Roy M. heath, 86, Salina retired owner and operator of the Roy Heath car dealership, died Saturday. Services were to be at 1 p.m. today at Roselawn Memorial Park, Salina.

Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Robert Pringle, of Marietta, Ga., a brother, Ralph of El Dorado and a sister Mrs. Clyde Rogers of Eureka.

A memorial has been established with the American Cancer Society.

HECHT, ANNA IRENE

Anna Hecht Rites Held in Hastings

Miss Anna Irene Hecht, 66, 346 Hillside, died May 26. She had been a resident of Mid-America Nursing Center.

Miss Hecht was born June 27, 1905 in York City, Nebraska, the daughter of William H. and Anna Rosalie McMullen Hecht. She had lived here since August of 1964, coming from Denver. She had previously lived in New York City for 48 years and for a time in Hastings, Nebr.

She was a member of St. John's Catholic Church and a member of St. John's altar society, and Legion of Mary.

Survivors include her sister, Mrs. Helen Coveny, 346 Hillside; two brothers, Lyle, Hastings, Nebr., and Forrest, Grand Island, Nebr., and her nephew Leon, Grand Island.

Recitation of the Rosary was at 7:30 Monday evening gin Livingston-Butler-Volland Funeral home in Hastings. Service were Tuesday morning in the Catholic church in Hastings. Interment was in Plainview cemetery in Hastings. Kirby Funeral home was in charge of local arrangements. (El Dorado Times, June 1, 1972)

KANOPLIS - Funeral services for Mrs. Merrill (Nova Mae) Hogden, 76, will be at 10 a.m. Friday in Assembly of God church, Ellsworth. She died Tuesday.

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Mrs. Floyd Holton, 73, a former El Dorado resident, died Saturday. Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday in Colorado Springs Memorial Garden.

C. M. Hopper, 72 Dies

C. M. Hopper, 72, Neederland, Texas, died Thursday morning after a long illness.

Survivors: wife, Billy; three sons, Joe, Bill, James, two sisters, Vergia B. Carroll, El Dorado, Ruby Avery, Oklahoma City, two brothers, Vester L. Atwood of Oklahoma, and Rois of Taf, Calif. (El Dorado Times, August 14, 1980)

HOWER, ROBERT T.

Robert T. Hower, 53, dies in care wreck

Robert T. Hower, formerly of El Dorado and now athletic director at Southwestern College, Winfield, died Friday of injuries suffered in a two-car crash four miles north of Arkansas City on US77. He died in surgery at Arkansas City Memorial Hospital shortly after the accident.

Hower moved to El Dorado as a small child with his family. He was a member of the El Dorado high school basketball and football teams and graduated from here in 1937.

He graduated from Friends University in 1941 and coached at Caldwell, Lakin, Fowler and Caney high schools in Kansas before moving to Southwestern in 1954. He earned a master degree in 1959 from Wichita State University.

Survivors include his wife, Mildred, a son, Phil, Winfield, and two daughters, Mrs. Susan Fronk, Overland Park, and Kris, at home. Local survivors include his brother, Paul Hower, 911 West Third, and two sisters-in-law Mrs. Bill Poole, 505 Benton and Mrs. Virginia Bloyes, 427 Houser Drive.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Grace United Methodist church, Winfield. Burial will be in the Highland Cemetery, Winfield.

HURT, FRED RAYMOND

Fred Raymond Hurt, 72, El Dorado, died this morning at Fort Dodge, Kan. Graveside services will be at 4 p.m. Saturday in Sunset Lawns Cemetery.

He was born May 7, 1908 at El Dorado Springs, Mo., the son of William S. and Flora Fisher Hurt. He moved to El Dorado in 1918. He was a veteran of World War II and a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Survivors include a sister, Pansy Dunham, El Dorado, and 11 nieces and nephews.

Hollis, 62, Dies

May Hollis, 62, Casper, Wyo., formerly of El Dorado and Augusta, died Tuesday of a heart attack while vacationing.

Survivors include a daughter Mrs. Betty Chorn, Augusta. Funeral will be in El Dorado. Arrangements to be announced later by Dietz-Carlson Funeral Home. (El Dorado Times, Nov. 8, 1980)

HUTSON, ORVILLE R. (DUTCH)

Services Set for Orville Hutson

Orville R. (Dutch) Hutson, 76, 424 N. Taylor, died Friday at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Kansas City, Mo. Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Dietz-Carlson Colonial Chapel. Burial will follow in Sunset Lawns Cemetery.

He was born Feb. 3, 1904 at El Dorado, the son of Jefferson and Vina Neighbors Hutson. He was a self-employed truck driver and retired in 1975. He spent his entire life in this area.

On Feb. 2, 1924 he married Verna Mae Smith at El Dorado. She preceded him in death May 30, 1979.

Survivors include three sons, Orville, Jr., Eddie Ray, and Larry L., all of El Dorado, three daughters, Virgina Louise Guethy, Bonner Springs, Mary Ann Watkins, Kingman, and Sandra Sue Carter, Wichita, one brother, Leonard W. of El Dorado, 29 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.

He was also preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, one sister, one grandchild and one great-grandchild. (El Dorado Times, November 8, 1980)
