Russell F. Hacker, 76, of 1301 Shelden, died Tuesday afternoon at St. Francis Hospital in Wichita.

Mr. Hacker was born November 6, 1899, at El Dorado the son of B. W. and Charlotte Marcum Hacker. He was an oil driller until his retirement at the age of 62. On Nov. 28, 1936, he married Velma Watchous at Eureka. He was a member of the Temple Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, of the home; a son, Joe Francis of Tujunga Valley, Calif.; a daughter, Mrs. Joe (Darlene Aragon of McPherson; a stepdaughter, Mrs. Joe (Pauline) Grisham of Tulsa, Oka.; three brothers, Joan and Amos, both of El Dorado and Brice of Wichita, six sisters, Mrs. Jennie King, Mrs. Lena LaRue and Mrs. Myrtle Worden all of El Dorado; Mrs. Edna McGregor of Colorado Springs, Colo, Mrs. Ethel Strickland of Cunningham and Mrs Eunice Bevans of Peabody, six grandchildren and one great grandchild. Edgar Lawrence Hagan, 77, of Wichita, retired Elk County farmer and owner of the former Hagan's Self-Service Laundry in Wichita, died Tuesday. He was a brother of Clarence Hagan of El Dorado.
Other survivors are a son, Donald Hagan, and two daughters, Mrs. Algie Ellis and Mrs. Carl Lewis, all of Wichita, and two other brothers, Paul Hagan, Tulsa, Okla., and Horace Hagan of Wathena.

Harry Hamilton, 82, 917 West Pine, formerly of Cassoday, died Thursday evening at Allen Memorial Hospital.

Miss Norma Jean Hamilton, 32, died Wednesday at the Emmaus Home in St. Charles, Mo. Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m., Saturday in the Kirby Funeral Home chapel. Burial will follow in the Chelsea Cemetery.
Miss Hamilton was born Nov. 3, 1941, in El Dorado. She moved to St. Charles in July of 1954. She was a member of the United Church of Christ.
Survivors include her parents, Lee and Louise Chapman Hamilton, 626 W. Carr; a sister, Mrs. Gene (Ruby) Middleton, 890 Fredrick, a brother, Richard Hamilton, New Baltimore, Mich., and several nieces and nephews. (El Dorado Times, October 3, 1974)
Funeral rites were held Wednesday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at the Dietz-Pittman Colonial Chapel for Guy L. Hammer of Rosalia, who died suddenly Monday morning, September 14, 1964, at his home. Interment was made in Blankenship Cemetery.
Mr. Hammer, a son of John and Annie Hammer was born near Rosalia on May 10, 1893, and was married to Amanda Nelson at Manhattan on April 11, 1918.
For the past 18 years he had operated a grocery business in Rosalia. Prior to that he at one time operated a service station at Rosalia with a brother.
He was a member of the Rosalia board of education for 23 years and was an active worker in all civic projects in his community where he had spent all his life except 17 months spent in serving with the U.S. Army in World War I. He was a member of Capt. Edgar Dale Post No. 81 American Legion.
He is survived by his wife, two brothers, Myrl of Topeka, and Lelo of Augusta, and one sister, Mrs. S. E. Anderson of Potwin.
Mr. Hammer was a cousin of A. L. Hammer of Leon.
Services were conducted by the Rev. Burl Allison, pastor of the Rosalia Methodist Church, Graydon R. Waldorf, soloist, was accompanied by Mrs. Amos Marsh at the organ.
Casket bearers were Lloyd Gray and Wayne Clark, Leon; Leonard Conner, Cassoday, Karl James, Emporia; Knip Krehbiel and Loy Short. Honorary bearers were George Borger, Tom Ratliff, Alex Gull, Ivan A. Smith, Vernon Willhite, Oliver Pike, Bert Rector, C. L. Hagan, Gwynn Liggett, Ervin Voth, A. G. Bowers, Fred Flesher and Bill Liggett.
Military rites were held at the graveside by Captain Edgar Dale Post No. 81, American Legion. A large crowd attended last rites for Mr. Hammer, despite the rainy weather. (El Dorado Times, September 17, 1964)
Word was received of the death of Mrs. Nellie Freeman Hanson of Columbus, Ohio. She was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. B. T. Freeman of El Dorado and the wife of the late Irbin Hanson. Mrs. Hanson was preceded in death by six sisters and one brother.
Survivors include three sons, Mason Hanson of Columbus, Ohio; Hugh Hanson of Culver City, Calif., and Irwin Hanson of Santa Cruz, Calif.; three sisters, Alice Freman and Lilah Stackley of El Dorado and Sarah Freeman of Sterling and four grandchildren.

Victor S. Harp, 61, Route 2, died Wednesday night at Allen Memorial hospital after having been ill for over two years.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday at Dietz Colonial chapel. Interment will be at Walnut Valley Memorial Park.
Born Feb. 24, 1911, at Cloverdale in Chautauqua county, he had been a resident of El Dorado since 1958. He took early retirement from the Kansas Turnpike Authority because of his illness. In earlier years he had worked in the oil fields and had residences at Madison and also Grenola.
He was married to Goldie Ridgway in 1936, at Eureka. She survives him.
Other survivors include: one son, Russell Harp, of Wichita; three daughters, Mrs. Nada Fern Vanderpoll, Arkansas City, Mrs. Wanda Sage of Virgil, and Mrs. Norma Perkins, San Diego, Calif., two brothers, Oliver Harp, Grenola, and Charlie Harp, Sedan; two sisters, Mrs. Alice Mast, Wichita and Mrs. Della Loman, San Diego and seven grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Alma DeLora Harp, three brothers and one sister. (El Dorado Times, Thursday, January 18, 1973)
Elizabeth A. Harris, 85, 517 North Denver, died Friday morning at Susan B. Allen Memorial hospital.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Monday in St. John's Catholic Church. Recitation of the Rosary will be held at 4 p.m. Sunday in the Kirby Funeral Home chapel. Interment will follow the funeral service in Walnut Valley Memorial Park Cemetery.
Mrs. Harris was born April 20, 1888, in Audbon, Iowa. She married Charles Joseph Harris Nov. 1, 1905 in Lamar, Mo. He died July 1, 1964. She had lived in the El Dorado area since 1940 coming here from McPherson where she had lived for one year and for 27 hears in Romona, Okla.
Mrs. Harris had memberships in St. John's Catholic church, the Altar Society of the church, Royal Neighbors of American and St. Elizabeth and St. Theresa Study clubs.
Survivors include one daughter, Miss Esther Harris, 517 North Denver, and two nieces Mrs. B. J. Fitzwater, Salina and Mrs. Luke Roberts, Kansas City, Mo. She was preceded in death by four sisters.

Funeral services for Lowney P. Harris, 66, of 311 South Star, were Saturday afternoon at Kirby Funeral Home Chapel. He died Thursday, Sept. 26 at Knutson Manor.
Rev. Joe Riley Burns officiated. Mr. Darryl Patten sang "How Great Thou Art" and "Amazing Grace" accompanied by Mrs. A. J. Brazil. Casket bearers were Lawrence Thomason, John D. Brown, Frank B. Templin, L. W. Holden, Kenneth Goering and John Eisenhour. Interment was at Walnut Valley Memorial Park.
Mr. Harris was born October 17, 1907, in Oblong, Ill., the son of Mr. and Mrs. Lewis O. Harris (Lola M. Carlton). He was a World War II veteran. He was a member of the Methodist Church in Oblong, Ill. and the American Legion.
Mr. Harris traveled with circus and dance bands in the United States, including Alaska and Hawaii, and Cuba for several years. He played the tuba and bass violin. He played in the El Dorado Municipal band for a number of years, and also the Lawrence Thomason band. Circuses for which he played including Ringling brothers, Clyde Beatty, Tom Mix, and Cole brothers.
Survivors include one sister, Mrs. Dorothea Carle of Wichita, and two brothers, Max E., of 1138 South Topeka and Carney C. of 408 Frazier. (Butler Conty News, October 3, 1974)
Graveside services for Mrs. Olyne P. Hart, 303 South Atchison, who died March 26 at Allen Memorial Hospital, were held Thursday, March 29 at Memorial Park Cemetery, Kansas City, Mo.
Mrs. Hart was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Chauncey Zeman (Belle Hogan) and was born in Dubuque, Iowa. She moved as a child with her parents to Kansas City. She was a retired assistant manager of the Marshall Penn Apartment Hotel in Kansas City, and came to El Dorado 11 years ago. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Kansas City.
Survivors include a sister, Mrs. C. M. Kelley (Ethelyn), 303 South Atchison, with whom Mrs. Hart made her home.

James Virgil Hayes, 86 of 1008 Orient, died at Allen Memorial Hospital Thursday. Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the Kirby Funeral Home Chapel with burial at Walnut Valley Memorial Park.
He was born Feb. 15, 1888 in El Dorado. He married Jessie L. Brickley in Wichita Nov. 19, 1910. he was a retired farmer and carpenter and had lived most of his life in El Dorado.
He is survived by his wife, one daughter, Mrs. Martha Baggett, Wichita, two sisters, Mrs. Alpha Wiggins, Stafford, Kan., Mrs. Guy Carey, Topeka, a half brother, Albert Hayes, Route 3, 10 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren and two great great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two sons, Wesley and Arthur.

Bess M. Hazen, 85 of Decatur, Ill., died Thursday morning at Decatur Memorial Hospital. Services were held Monday morning at the Brintlinger's Funeral Home at Decatur with burial in Star of Hope Mausoleum in Graceland Cemetery at Decatur.
Mrs. Hazen was born on a farm near El Dorado on Aug. 2, 1890, the daughter of Dr. Richard and Viola D. Wait Miller. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church at Decatur, of the Daughters of the American Revolution and the Ladies Auxiliary of the Illinois Society of Professional Engineers. She was married to Daniel F. Hazen on July 18, 1917, at El Dorado.
Survivors are her husband, Daniel; one son, Daniel F., Jr., of Pacific Palisades, Calif.; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one brother and three sisters. (El Dorado Times, March 1, 1976)
John A. Hein, 63, of 1123 Cherokee street, who died March 17 in Allen Memorial Hospital, had been a resident here since 1942. He was born April 29, 1904 at Aulne, a son of Mr. and Mrs. John Hein (Alberta Maska) and was married to Pearl Martin April 29, 1959 at Phoenix, Ariz.
Before coming to El Dorado, Mr. Hein had lived in Peabody. For 18 years he was with the Banks Construction company as a tractor and heavy equipment operator. During World War II he was in military service.
Mr. Hein was a member of the Baptist church, Capt. Edgar Dale Post 81, American Legion, El Dorado Elks Lodge and of Local Hoisting Union 101.
Surviving are Mrs. Hein; a step-daughter, Mrs. Lucille Needham, 1140 Shelden, a stepson, Donald Martin of Ellis, and four grandchildren, Karen and Billy Needham of El Dorado and Michelle and Gregory Martin of Ellis.
Services were held Wednesday at the Kirby Funeral Home, the Rev. Donald McCracken, pastor of the First Baptist Church officiating. James D. Allen sang "Beyond the Sunset" and "In the Garden," with Mrs. Amos B. Marsh as organist. The casket bearers were George Banks, Luis Salario, Dude Jones, Charles J. Pratt, and Robert L. Hurlburt. Interment was in Walnut Valley Memorial Park with military rites conducted by members of the American Legion. (El Dorado Times, March 21, 1968)
HENDRIX, HANNAH MYRTLE (MRS. EARL)
Mrs. Earl (Hannah Myrtle) Hendrix of Oklahoma City died Monday morning after suffering a heart attack last week.
Funeral services are scheduled for Wedneday at 10 a.m. at the Guardian Funeral Home in Oklahoma City. Interment will follow at Arlington Memorial Park.
Born at Independence, Kan., July 28, 1912, she moved to Oklahoma City in 1958.
Mrs. Hendrix is survived by her husband, of the home, three sons, Jim Petty of Ottawa, Bob Petty of 804 Maplewood Drive, El Dorado and Bill Hendrix of Lincoln, Nebraska.
Other survivors include three sisters, Madeline De Julio of Downey, Calif., Wilma Pollaurd of Baxter Springs, and Daisy Maxson of Bellflower, Calif., Nine grandchildren also survive. (El Dorado Times, March 13, 1973)

Mrs. Alvin J. (Bertha Ann) Hetrick, 75, 208 East Second, died this morning (Friday) at Sarah Watson Care Home. Graveside rites will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday at Sunset Lawns cemetery under the direction of the Dietz-Carlson Funeral Home. Friends may call at the funeral home until 10 a.m. Saturday.
She was born April 1, 1898 at Tionesta, Penn., and had been a resident here since 1916, moving from Pennsylvania. She was married to Alvin J. Hetrick, Marc. 30,1914, at Barlesville, Okla. He died Nov. 4, 1972.
She was a member of Friendship Rebekah Lodge No. 10.
Survivors include one son, Clark Hetrick, 1728 North Topeka; one daughter, Mrs. Ray (Bessie) Redburn, 1117 North Taylor, eight grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. (El Dorado Times, March 1, 1974)
Mrs. Joseph H. (Vada) Hill, 64, 1029 Osage, died early today at the Wesley Medical Center, Wichita. She had been critically ill for the past month.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Dietz Colonial Chapel. Interment will be in Walnut Valley Memorial Park.
Mrs. Hill was born in Kansas on Jan. 4, 1909. She married Joseph Hill on Oct. 5, 1923, in Wichita. He died Nov. 3, 1963.
Mrs. Hill had been a resident of Kansas for most of her life. She was a member of the Foursquare Gospel church.
She is survived by three sons, Joe D., 1027 Osage, Lawrence C., whose address is unknown and Jerry L., 1029 Osage. Jerry Hill is Lieutenant in the El Dorado Department of Public Safety.
She is also survived by three brothers, Vernon Leslie, Boise, Idaho, Ernest Leslie, Pocatello, Idaho and Robert Leslie, Portland, Ore. And two sisters, Mrs. Vernedeth Roderick, Boise, Idaho and Mrs. Vivan Larson, Caldwell, Idaho. There are six grandchildren and one great-grandchild. (El Dorado Times, September 14, 1973)
Max Raymond Hitch, PH2, who was a photographer's mate with the U.S. Navy and stationed at Christ Church in New Zealand, died Saturday, November 14, in Christ Church Pacific Hospital., New Zealand, succumbing to injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident. He was the son and only child of Mr. and Mrs. Chester Goodwin, 701 South Alleghany, El Dorado.
The tragedy is a blow not only to his family but to his former classmates and other friends.
Born in El Dorado November 25, 1942, Max was graduated from El Dorado High School in 1960. He enlisted immediately after graduating and had basic training at San Diego, Calif. He received additional schooling and training at Pensacola and Key West in Florida and at Quonset Point, Rhoade Island before going overseas. He was proficient in photography and like that line of duty.
In addition to his parents, Max is survived by his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. M. C. Barnes, 1222 West Central avenue, and Mrs. Carrie Goodwin, 616 South Washington.

Final rites for PH2 Max Raymond Hitch, 21 an El Dorado serviceman who was injured fatally Sept. 14, in New Zealand, were held Monday afternoon at the Dietz-Pittman Colonial Chapel.
Dr. Joe Riley Burns, pastor of the First Methodist Church, officiated. He was assisted by Lt. L. L. Booth, Chaplain, USNR.
Graydon R. Waldorf sang "In the Garden" and "The Old Rugged Cross." The organist was Mrs. Clarren Butterworth.
Casket bearers included, W. E. Adams, HM1, USN: J. W. Windley, SK1, USNR: M. F. Nichols, RM1, USN: L. R. Stone, RD1, USN: W C Murray, DC1 USN: and W. D. Frederick, BU1, USN.
The honor guard, commanded by R. T. Wixson, ENC, USN, was composed of L. A. Cherry, GMG2, USNR: I. T. Madden, YN2, USNR: D. L. Harris, PN2, USNR: and M. A. Martin, YN2, USNR.
Interment with military rites at the graveside, was made in Walnut Valley Memorial Park Cemetery. The bugler was D. W. Piper, BUR2, USNR, Ronnie D. Broshears, PN2, USN, served as the escort. (El Dorado Times, November 24, 1964)
Services for Joyce LeeRoy Hladky, 30, 345 State, who died February 14 at his home were held February 16 at the Dietz Colonial Chapel. Rev. Oren D. Etter, pastor of the Wesleyan Holiness church, officiated.
Taped organ music included the selection "Beyond the Sunset." Casket bearers were Leo Hanson, Jim Cox, Bruce Auer, Ed Wilson, Ross George, and Lendall Rhoads.
Born December 30, 1942 at Holton, he was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Garnett James Hladky (Margaret Wells). He was married to Donna L. Drake on December1, 1970.
Mr. Hladky was employed as a roustabout for Triangle Drilling. Before moving to El Dorado, he lived in Emmett, Kans.
Survivors include his wife of the home, his parents, Mr. and Mrs. G. J. Hladky, Emmett, two brothers, Jim Hladky, Glasco, and John Hladky, Emmett and two sisters, Mrs. Joy Thompson and Mrs. Joan Failer, both of Emmett. (El Dorado Times, Feb. 22, 1973)
Roy Hobbs, 76, of 211 North Orchard died here Saturday afternoon.
Mr. Hobbs was born Feb. 28, 1888, in the West Branch community and lived in Rosalia for 18 years prior to moving here. He had lived in Butler County all of his life except for a few years in Chase county.
He was married March 22, 1910 to Vinnie Ann Hamilton.
Mr. Hobbs who was a retired farmer, was a member of the Chelsea Methodist Church.
Survivors include the wife, three daughters, Mrs. Clifford DeWitt, 1414-1/2 West Pine. Mrs. Paul Handle of Burns, and Mrs. Robert Diller, Cassoday; 10 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by four sisters, three brothers and a son.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the Dietz-Pittman Colonial Chapel. The Leonard Dale, pastor of the Wichita Grace Lutheran Church will officiate. Interment will be in Ridgeway cemetery at DeGraff. (El Dorado Times, November 2, 1964)

The rev. Leonard Dale, pastor of the Wichita Grace Lutheran Church officiated.
Mrs. Amos Marsh at the organ, accompanied Gene Middleton who sang "Going Home," and "Beyond the Sunset."
Casket bearers, all grandsons, were Jerry DeWitt, Wayne Handle, R. Leonard Diller, John R. Hobbs, Dale Hamilton and George R. Hurlburt.
Serving as honorary bearers were Dave Kitche, Ross Bende, Mark Reiserer, Albert Burch, Wayne Manka, Rex Hill and Shirley D. Milbourn.

John H. Hodgen, 58, of Hope, brother of Merrill D. Hodgen, El Dorado, died Wednesday at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Topeka. He was born at Kanopolis and was a veteran of the Army, serving in World War II. He was a carpenter and a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
He is also survived by his wife, Ina; two sons, Danny Richard Hodge, Wichita, and John Michael Hodgen, Clearwater, Fla., a daughter, Mrs. Kathy McCloud, Emporia, two sisters, Mrs. Flora Vance, Sierra Vista, Ariz., and Mrs. Doris Lund, Buena Vista, Calif., five grandchildren and a great grandchild.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Carlson Funeral Home at Hope, and burial will be in Hope Cemetery. (El Dorado Times, September 5, 1975)
Margaret L. Hoge, 82, of Augusta, a homemaker, died Monday. Rosary will be at 7:30 p.m. today and services at 11 a.m. Wednesday, both at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Derby.
Survivors include three sons, Herman of Augusta, Ralph and James of Wichita; a daughter, Dorothy Mayne of Alma, Mich., a sister, Nettie Brown of Rushville, Neb., 11 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. Smith Mortuary in Derby, is in charge of arrangements. (El Dorado Times, August 7, 1984)
Hala Will Holladay, 79, of 328 Diagonal Road, died Tuesday at Susan B. Allen Memorial Hospital. Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Thursday at the Kirby Morris Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in Walnut Valley Memorial Park.
Mrs. Holladay was born Aug. 5, 1905 at Guthrie, Mo., the daughter of Walter Hugh and Emma Sampson Hendricks. She and Earl M. Holladay were married at Fulton, Mo., on May 24, 1922. Mr. Holladay died Nov. 27, 1984.
Mrs. Holladay was a homemaker and a member of the Peabody United Methodist Church.
Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Helen McNary, Route 4; Mrs. Betty Lanman, Atlanta, Ga., one sister, Mrs. Opal Kyger, Fulton, Mo., seven grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one son and one grandson.

Clark W. Hollinger, 83, of Yates Center, father of Mrs. Roy Norris, 302 Village Road, died Thursday.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. at the Campbell Funeral Home at Yates Center with burial in the Yates Center Cemetery. (El Dorado Times, March 12, 1976)
Services were held Sunday, Aug. 19 at the Grubb Funeral Home, Ellsworth, for former area resident Harold E. Holmes, 54, who was one of four oil field workmen killed August 16 while working at a Cities Service Oil Company lease north of Holyrood. Reverend Donald Ray officiated. Full military graveside services were conducted by the Holyrood American Legion post at Hillcrest Memorial Park cemetery, Great Bend, where he was buried.
Holmes, who at one time lived in the Oil Hill area, was a brother of Mrs. Loree Leach, 722 South Race.
Five men working on the lease where Cities Service has tank batteries were involved in the accident. One of the men reportedly entered a tank used to separate water from oil when he was overcome by hydrogen sulfide fumes. The other four entered the tank in rescue attempts. Killed were Holmes; James Thackh, 48, Claflin, Robert Dale Wittich, 20 Derby and Delbert E. Hendricks, 61, Alden. Clyde Rathbun, 51, Lorraine, was hospitalized.
Holmes was born September 23, 1918 at Hallowell. He married Virginia Motter on April 25, 1941, at Kingman. He was a World War II veteran and a member of the American Legion post at Holyrood where he had lived since 1946.
Survivors in addition to Mrs. Leach, are his wife of the home, two sons, Gary D. of the home and Charles D., Wichita, two daughters, Mrs. Margaret Ann Jones, Wichita and Mrs. Barbara Jo Shelton, Louisville, Colo., his mother, Mrs. Ora Holmes, Lorraine, four brothers, Neal of Chase, Dale of Lockport, Ill., Joseph R. of Albany, Ore., and Floyd M of Denver, and three grandchildren.

HOLMES, ORA PARSONS (MRS. WILLIAM)
Mrs. William (Ora Parsons) Holmes, 81, a former resident of El Dorado, died Tuesday at the Veterans Memorial Hospital at Ellsworth.
She was born Nov. 13, 1893, at Hallowell, and lived there until 1923 when she moved to El Dorado. Since 1962 she had lived at Lorraine.
She was married to William Holmes in October, 1910, at Columbus. She was a member of the Christian Church at Hallowell.
Surviving are four sons, Neal Holmes, of Chase; Dale Holmes, Lockport, Ill., Joseph Holmes, Albany, Ore., and Floyd Holmes, Westminster, Colo., a daughter, Mrs. Loree Leach, El Dorado, a sister, Mrs. Pearl Handshy, Columbus; 18 grandchildren and 29 great grandchildren.
Her husband died April 23, 1968, and a son, Harold died in August 1973.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the Grubb Funeral Home in Ellsworth, with Dr. Arthur Rude officiating. Burial will be in Hillcrest Memorial Cemetery at Great Bend.

Carrie B. (Scott) Holt, 93, 1201 Orient, died this morning at Allen Memorial Hospital.
Funeral services will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at the First Church of the Nazarene. Burial will be in Blankinship Cemetery under the direction of the Dietz-Carlson Funeral Home.
A resident of Butler County all of her life, except for a short time in Wichita, she was born in Rosalia Township Oct. 29, 1881.
Her first marriage was to T. E. Scott in 1917. He died in 1950. Later she was married to Ralph Holt. They made their home in El Dorado until his death in 1969.
A church member for many years, she became a member of the First Church of the Nazarene here in 1971.
No immediate relatives survive her.
A son died at the age of 6. (El Dorado Times, December 7, 1974)
Mrs. Ralph Holt (Carrie B.), 93, of 1201 Orient, died Saturday, Dec. 7 at Susan B. Allen Memorial hospital. Services were Tuesday afternoon at the First Church of the Nazarene. Dietz-Carlson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Rev. Lyle Curtis, pastor of the First Church of the Nazarene, officiated. Casket bearers were Jack Carter, Fred Varner, Orville Brown, Melvin Maddux, Caleb Harper and Owen Hanks. Interment was at the Blankinship cemetery.
Mrs. Holt was born October 29, 1881, in Rosalia Township, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Al E. Piper. She married T. E. Scott in 1917. He died in 1950. She later married Ralph Holt who died in 1969. Mrs. Holt had lived in Butler county all of her life except for a short period of residence in Wichita. She was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene.
Survivors include two nieces, Mrs. Vernon Griffith and Mrs. Al Skalsky, both of Wichita. She was preceded in death by a son who died at the age of six years. (Butler County News, December 12, 1974)

Myrtle L. Hotchkiss, 94, of Route 2, Leon, died Tuesday in Manhattan, Kan. Services will be held 7:30 p.m. Friday at the Latzke Chapel of First United Methodist Church in Manhattan. Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Saturday 17 at Augusta Cemetery in Augusta.
She had lived in Manhattan for the past nine years.
She is survived by her daughter, Irene Davis of Manhattan; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband Roy C. in 1967.
Memorials have been established with the Kansas 4-H Foundation.

Orren "Fern" Hottman, 66, Abilene, father of Michael Hottman of Douglass, died Tuesday at the Wesley Medical Center in Wichita.
His funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the Martin Funeral Home in Abilene. Pastor Peter Balaban and Dr. w. W. Alexander will officiate and burial will be in the Abilene (Kan.) cemetery.
A memorial has been established with the Abilene Trinity Lutheran Church, in care of the Martin Funeral Home.
He was born Oct. 14, 1918 in Detroit to Herbert and Edith Wells Hottman.
He graduated from Chapman High School in 1939.
He married Marjorie Palmer Sept. 12, 1943 in Phoenix, Ariz. She survives.
He retired as a manufacturer's engineer with the Combustine Engineering Kansas Manufacturing Facility in Enterprise.
He served with the U.S. Air Force during World War II. He was a member of the Abilene Elks Lodge and Trinity Lutheran Church and the Chapman American Legion.
Other survivors include a daughter, Orrene Alstrom; brothers, Marion J. of Abilene, Melvin of Annandale, Va., Ted of Bremerton, Wash., Elmer of Salem, Ore., Bill of Salina, and Calvin of Corvalis, Ore., sisters, Annie Cittrich of White Meadow Lake, N.J., Darlene Miller of Lawrence and Berneice Black of Chapman and five grandchildren. Jennie G. Hough, 86, Kansas City, Mo., formerly of El Dorado, died yesterday.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at St. John's Catholic Church. Recitation of the Rosary will be at 7 p.m. Thursday in the Kirby Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in Sunset Lawns cemetery.
Mrs. Hough was born May 18, 1889, in Omaha, Neb., the daughter of Ferdinand and Alphilda Oman Nelson. She married Lucien J. Hough, Oct. 2, 1912 in Omaha. He died Sept. 14, 1967.
Mrs. Hough had lived for the past three years in Kansas City at the Little Sisters of the Poor and previously at the Little Sisters home in El Dorado for eight years.
Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Robert O'Connor of Wichita, and one son, Frederick Hough of Owatonna, Minn.; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. (El Dorado Times, July 31, 1975)
Funeral services were held Friday at St. John's Catholic Church for Mrs. Lucien J. Hough (Jennie G.), 86, of Kansas City, Mo., formerly of El Dorado. Mrs. Hough died Wednesday, July 30.
Rev. Phillip Allen, Wichita officiated at the rites and Mrs. Joseph Moreland was organist. Interment was in Sunset Lawns Cemetery.
Casket bearers were Michael Wemmer, Paul Vann, Fred Taylor, Bernard Weldon, Thomas Schermuly and John Wilson.
Rev. Denis Blackledge led the recitation of the rosary in the Kirby Funeral Home chapel Thursday evening.
Born May 18, 1889 in Omaha, Neb., Mrs. Hough was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ferdinand Nelson (Alphilda Oman). She married Lucien J. Hough October 2, 1912, in Omaha. He died September 14, 1967.
Mrs. Hough had lived in the Little Sisters of the Poor Home in Kansas City. Previously she had been a resident of St. Joseph's Home in El Dorado for eight years.

Former El Dorado resident, Harry B. "Buck" Houser, 55, of Newton died there November 12. Funeral services were held here in St. John's Catholic church November 15. Rev. Michael R. Blackledge officiated with interment in the Walnut Valley Memorial Park.
Mrs. A. J. Brazil played organ selections.
Casket bearers were Herb Barnt, Boyd Baum, George Breer, Jim Sponsler, Howard Stover and Howard Lackenmayer.
Recitation of the rosary was held Friday evening at the Dietz-Carlson Colonial chapel.
Mr. Houser had been an El Dorado resident for a number of years when he was with Halliburton company. He was transferred to Texas from here. Upon his retirement from the company in 1971, he moved to Newton where he owned Crestview Mobile Homes.
Mr. Houser was born June 30, 1920, in hays, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Howard V. Houser (Matilda Lieker). He married Carmen Love in WaKeeney on October 19, 1940. She survives.
Other survivors include a son, James R., Newton, a daughter Mrs. James F. Wimmer (Patricia), Newton; three sisters, Mrs. Elmer Weltz, Hays, Mrs. Bill King, Belleville, and Mrs. Dorious Desmarteau, Hays, and a grandson. (Butler County News, November 20, 1975)
Leslie L. Houston, 5, of 924 North Walnut, died Tuesday night at Allen Memorial Hospital after a short illness.
Funeral arrangements will be announced through the Dietz-Pittman Funeral home.
The boy was a kindergarten pupil at Grandview School and had attended classes Tuesday morning. He was hospitalized after becoming suddenly ill.
Born at El Dorado on Aug. 20, 1962, Leslie had lived here and for two years at Big Springs, Texas. He was a member of the Antioch Baptist church and attended Sunday School at that church.
Surviving are his mother, Mrs. Jewellette Houston, of the home; three brothers, Van Norwood of Hutchinson, Mose Vine Jr. of Wichita, and William Houston of the home; six sisters, Mrs. Karen Sue Dennis of Big Springs, Tex., Charlotte June Vine, Virginia Benita Vine, Chaarlesetta Vine, Retta Louise Vine, and Lorisa Mae Vine, all of Wichita, the maternal grandmother, Mrs. Carl D. Wills, 627 North Atchison street; and the paternal grandmother, Mrs. Katherine Houston of Big Springs, Tex.
Leslie was preceded in death by his father, Issac Houston Jr., in February, 1967.
Nona Belle Howard, 86, Wichita, sister of Earnest Henry Ewalt, Walter Stamps Ewalt, Emma Jane Shafer, and Sadie Venita Canfield, all of Augusta, died Sunday in Wichita.
Her funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Dunsford Funeral Home. Rev. Richard Axmann of the First Baptist Church will officiate. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Fairmont Cemetery in Lamar, Colo.
A memorial has been established with the Dialysis Center, 1007 N. Emporia, Wichita, Kan., 67214.
She was born Dec. 6, 1897 in Cowley County to John Henry and Mary Emma Need Ewalt.
She married Allen Howard on April 5, 1920 in Wichita. He preceded her in death Feb. 29, 1956.
She came to Butler County in 1962 and was a member of the First Baptist Church.
Survivors also include another sister, Margaret Leota Euler of Topeka.
Two brothers preceded her in death, John William Ewalt and Lawrence Woodrow Ewalt both died in 1982. (El Dorado Times, November 26, 1984)

David Franklin Howrey, 79, 1213 Osage, died this morning at Sarah Watson Nursing Home. Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Kirby Funeral Home Chapel.
Born August 26, 1893 at King City, Missouri, Mr. Howrey married the former Nola Irene Barker in Newton on June 22, 1929. He lived in El Dorado for the past 21 years and before that, on a farm north of Potwin for ten years. He moved to the Potwin area from Furley in 1941.
A retired farmer, he was a veteran of World War I and a member of the dismounted cavalry. He was a member of the Furley Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife, of the home, two daughters, Mrs. Sharon Clifton of Colorado Springs, Colorado and Mrs. Glenda Rutledge of Richmond, Virginia; one son, Darrel, of Towanda, one sister, Mrs. Rose Miller of Spirit Lake, Iowa and two brothers, Velman of Maysville, Mo., and Victor of Albany, Mo. Nine grandchildren also survive.
Interment will follow at Green Valley Cemetery in Furley. Kirby Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. (El Dorado Times, February 5, 1973)
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Leon Christian Church for Lester M. Huddle, 62, of Leon, who died at Wichita, Tuesday.
A resident of Leon since 1929, Mr. Huddle was employed by the Cessna Aircraft Company for 16 years and was a metal processor. He was born July 14, 1903 at Cedar Vale, and was married to Mary Beard at Sedan on Feb. 10, 1928.
He was a member of the Leon Christian Church, IOOF Lodge 203, Joppa Lodge 223, AM&FM, and Little Walnut Chapter 362, Order of the Eastern Star, all of Leon.
Surviving are his widow; three daughters, Mrs. Violet Miller, Mulvane, Mrs. Mary Neptune, Wichita and Mrs. Margraet Quinn, LaCanada, Calif., one sister, Mrs. Geneva Guthrie, Dalhart, Tex. There are six grandchildren. Two sisters and one brother preceded Mr. Huddle in death.
The Rev. Charles Manning will officiate at the services. Burial will be in Walnut Valley Memorial Park Cemetery, El Dorado. (El Dorado Times, December 30, 1965)
Funeral services were held Monday at the Dietz Colonial Chapel for Mrs. L. D. Hughes (Etta J.), 83, Leon. Mrs. Hughes died Friday, Sept. 7, at the Augusta Medical Complex.
Rev. Pete Ratzlaff of the Assembly of God in Augusta, officiated at the services. Mrs. Winifred Marley, organist accompanied Mrs. Pete Ratzlaff and Mrs. Paul Nuest, who sang "In the Garden" and "The Old Rugged Cross." Casket bearers were Francis Sowers, Ross George, Fred Waymire, C. D. Bradbury, Virgil Hughey and Bennie Pryor.
Interment was at Walnut Valley Memorial Park.
Mrs. Hughes was born March 10, 1890, at Dawson, Mo., and was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Pehlps Helsley (Alice Thornhill). She was married to Lawrence D. Hughes on December 25, 1910, near Dawson, Mo. He died January 21, 1966. Mrs. Hughes had lived at Leon one year, living previously at Pickrell corner 12 years and in the Oil Hill area 40 years.
Survivors include two sons, Harry Hughes of 324 North Orchard and Virgil Hughes of Port Angeles, Wash., four daughters, Mrs.. E. D. Ziegler (Ruby) of Mount Holly, N.J., Mrs. R. J. Potterton (Ruth) of Green Forest, Ark., Mrs. G. Orlin Butts (Virginia Mae) of Leon and Mrs. Bud Lubliner (Lucille) of Homewood, Ill.; three brothers, Otis Helsley of Quincy, Wash., Ernest Helsley of Corcoran, Calif., and Elmer Helsley of Buhl, Ida.; two sisters, Mrs. June Hart of West Plains, Mo., and Mrs. Verda Griffith of Fresno, Calif., 20 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. Services for Mrs. D. F. (Lula Mae) Hughes, 77, will be at 1 p.m. Friday in Kirby Funeral Home. She died Sunday. Survivors include her widower, and a son, Tholan S., Greenville, Liberia. (El Dorado Times, November 28, 1973)
Betty Jo (Lea) Hulse, 57, of 302 South Main, died at her home Tuesday.
Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Kirby Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Walnut Valley Memorial Park.
Mrs. Hulse was born Feb. 29, 1920, at Moline. She was married to Lester R. Hulse May 25, 1942, at Neodesha and he died Sept. 6, 1975. She moved to El Dorado from Bartlesville, Okla., in 1942 and was an accountant for McClure-Waggy for 26 years. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church and the Adrina Chapter No. 93 of the Order of Eastern Star.
Survivors include a sister, Mrs. Doris Cheek of Chanute, and two brothers-in-law, Freeman and Earl Hulse, both of El Dorado.

Services for Lester Ray Hulse, who died Sept. 6, were held at Kirby Funeral Home Tuesday. The Rev. Anthony Benigas officiated and Mrs. Amos B. Marsh was organist.
Casket bearers were Clifford M. Utermoehlen, Kenneth Phillips, Benny E. Beck, Arlo Hansen, Ralph W. Holem and Melvin Fritzler.
Masonic graveside services were conducted at Walnut Valley Memorial Park by Patmos Lodge No. 1407 AF&AM, with C. Verne Myers as orator. (El Dorado Times,)
An 18 year old El Dorado youth was killed Friday as a result of a one car accident on North Main street in El Dorado when the auto which he was driving crashed into a tree. A 17 year old girl who was with him received minor injuries.
Leonard Ray Hunter, died at 11:05 p.m. Friday, about two hours after the wreck.
Employed as a body and fender mechanic at McClure Motor Company, young Hunter lived at the home of his sister, Mrs. Rutha Spinden, 416 Hillcrest. He had previously resided in Dodge City and in Winfield, where he was born Oct. 29, 1949.
Survivors include his father, Roy Hunter, Bartlesville, Okla, his mother, Rutha F. Hunter, Dodge City, two brothers, Ronnie Lloyd Hunter, of Pond Creek, Okla., and Robert Hunter, Dallas, Tex; three sisters, Mrs. Ruth Spinden of El Dorado, Mrs. Dan Schowalter of Wichita, and Mrs. Paul Droste of Dodge City. A brother Rodger Dean Hunter, died in January of 1956.
Funeral services were held Tuesday in the Dietz-Pittman Colonial Chapel with the Rev. Donald D. McCracken officiating. Mrs. Amos Marsh, organist and Donald Janzen, vocalist, provided music "How Great Thou Art" and "Precious Memories" were the vocal selections.
Pallbearers were Larry Brickley, Glenn Good, Charles Stowers, Stephen Earl, Bob Shelton Jr. and Art Carlton.

George A. Hurlburt, 54, of El Dorado, Route 2, president of Sunflower Roofing and Industries, died Sunday at Allen Memorial Hospital after an illness of several months.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the First Christian Church, with the Rev. W. frank Aten, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Walnut Valley Memorial Park cemetery, with military rites at the graveside.
Mr. Hurlburt returned to El Dorado in 1950 from Johnston City, Ill., where he lived for 16 years. After coming here, he formed the Sunflower Roofing and Siding company, and that business was incorporated in 1966.
He was born at Oklahoma City on July 31, 1914, and came to El Dorado with his parents in 1917. He moved to Quincy, Ill., in 1923. Mr. Hurlburt was married to Dorothy Mitchell at West Frankfort, Ill. On April 14, 1935.
Mr. Hurlburt was a veteran of World War II. He was a member of the First Christian Church, of the board of trustees of that church, a former chairman of Rural Water District No. 1, a member of the El Dorado Odd Fellows and Rebekah Lodges, a member of the Lions Club, Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion, of the Carpenters Union of Johnston City, and of the Midwest Roofing Contractors association.
Surviving are his wife, a daughter, Mrs. JoAnn McGraw of El Dorado, Route 2, a son, George T. Hurlburt of 1410 Lowe, three sisters, Mrs. Evelyn Hoffman of Wichita, Mrs. Velma Fleer of Quincy, Ill., and Mrs. Lolita Unger of El Dorado, Route 2, two brothers, Oakley E. Hurlburt of El Dorado, Route 3 and Edward J. Hurlburt of Sacramento, Calif. There are four grandchildren.
Memorials in Mr. Hurblurt's name have been established with the First Christian church and with the American Cancer Society, in care of any El Dorado bank.
The Kirby Funeral Home is in charge.
The casket will not be open at the service but friends may call at the funeral home until noon Wednesday. (El Dorado times, December 9, 1968)
Roy Hutchinson, 77, died Wednesday morning at Susan B. Allen Memorial Hospital.
Graveside services will be Friday at 2 p.m. in Walnut Valley Memorial Park.
Mr. Hutchinson was born Jan. 27, 1897, in Beloit. He came to the El Dorado area in 1936 from Salina. He was formerly employed by Long's Tire service as a mechanic and service station employee. He was a Navy veteran of World War I, a member of the Church of God and the El Dorado American Legion Post.
Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Lola Fennell, Wichita; one son, Robert R. Hutchinson, Ft. Worth, Tex.; one sister, Mrs. Edna Lucas of St. Joseph, Mo., one brother James Hutchinson of St. Anthony, N. Dak., seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Funeral services are scheduled for 10:30 p.m. Monday at the Kirby Funeral Home chapel for Alta Peterson Hyde, 84, of 137 North Star, who died Wedneday at the Mid America Nursing Center. Interment will follow the services at Sunset Lawns Cemetery.
Born March 18, 1889 at Osage City, she married Charles Hyde on Jan. 11, 1914 at Cleveland, Ohio. He died in 1918. She moved to the El Dorado area from Cleveland in 1931.
A retired nurse and saleswoman, Mrs. Hyde was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, the Royal Neighbors and the Women's Relief Corps.
A sister, Mrs. Jennie Peterson Monahan of 137 North Star, is the only survivor.
