Lt. Col. Robert S. Hacker, a former El Doradoan and department adjutant for the Patriarch Militant Department of Kansas for six years, died Saturday. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Burris-Carson-Whal Funeral Home in Parsons. Full military honors will be extended for him. Burial will be in Parsons Cemetery.

Charles C. "Bud" Hailey, Sr., 68, of Burdick, retired Santa Fe Railway section worker and brother of William Hailey of Augusta, died Tuesday. Services were held at 10:30 a.m. today at United Methodist Church, Burdick.
Other survivors include sons, Charles, Jr., of Rogers, Ark., Robert of Abilene and Howard of Herington; daughters, Nancy Hanson of Burdick, Mary Wendt of Herington and Roberta of Hartford; brothers, Austin of Council Grove and Alvin of Elmdale; sisters, Margaret McPhail of Larned, Dottie Olson of Lawrence, Jane Miller of Lost Springs, Grace Smith of Herington and Ruth Sollner of Burdick, and 11 grandchildren.
Memorial has been established with United Methodist Church.

Bertha J. Hale, 91, of Augusta, a homemaker, died Saturday. Services are scheduled for 1 p.m. Tuesday at Cochran Mortuary in Wichita.
She is survived by a son, Dell Marquardt, of Wichita. (El Dorado Times, March 25, 1985)
J. Eugene Hale, 70, of Houston, Texas, a former El Doradoan, died Saturday at his home. Services are scheduled for Tuesday at George Lewis Funeral Home in Houston.
He was born April 17, 1915 and graduated in the 1934 class of El Dorado High School. He moved to Texas and for 30 years was owner of the Texas Infra-Red-Radiant Co., Inc., of Houston.
He was a member of Bethany United Methodist Church of Houston.
Other survivors include a son, Kent Hale, of Houston; a daughter, Paula Jean Stanford and a son in law, Howard Stanford, of Houston; two grandchildren, Brett and Lisa Stanford of Houston; two sisters, Ione Ware of Junction City and Helen Dixon of LaCanada, Calif. and a brother, Kenneth Hale of Norman, Okla.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Orville and Iva Hale, also former El Doradoans.

Vivian Marie Hamman, 78, of Augusta, was found dead Thursday. Rosary will be at 7 p.m. Sunday at Dunsford Funeral Home in Augusta. Service will be at 9 a.m. Monday at Catholic Center for the Aged Chapel in Wichita.
Survivors include brothers, Bertram Heuvelman of Richmond, Ill. And Laurence Heuvelman of Crystal River, Fla.; and sisters, Helen Schuhrke of Coon Rapids, Minn., and Mary Jane Schneider of Augusta. (El Dorado Times, Dec. 27, 1985)
SALISBURY, Conn. (AP) - Margaret Hamilton, who played the Wicked Witch of the West in "The Wizard of Oz," died today of an apparent heart attack, according to nursing home officials. She was 82.
Miss Hamilton, who had been ill for about a year, died at the Noble Horizons nursing home in Salisbury, according to Joann Lunning, director of nursing at the facility.
A former kindergarten teacher, Miss Hamilton's role in the 1939 version of the L. Frank Baum classic has frightened generations of children who thrilled as she melted at the feet of Judy Garland's Dorothy.
She came to film via the stage, appearing first at the Cleveland Playhouse, which now sponsors a scholarship fund in her name, and then appeared on Broadway in 1932, in "Another Language."
She went to Hollywood to reprise that role in 1933, and went on to appear in numerous character parts. She specialized in playing unpleasant gossips, spinsters, and maids in such films as "Nothing Sacred," "State of the Union," and "Guest in the House."
In 1971, she appeared in two films - "Brewster McCloud" and "The Anderson Tapes."
She also appeared on television, and was known to many as Cora, a kindly character in the Maxwell House Coffee commercials. (El Dorado Times, May 18, 1985)
William L. "Bill" Hanks, 56, of 1422 Edgemoor, died Monday afternoon at the Wesley Medical center in Wichita. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Carlson's Colonial Chapel. Burial will follow in the Walnut Valley Memorial Park.
He was born Sept. 6, 1932, in Americus, Kan., the son of Owen J. and Helen R. Tietz Hanks. He was the manager of Ruck Electric and had lived in El Dorado since 1949, moving here from Great Bend. He was married to Margaret Evelyn Holem on Dec. 31,1964 in El Dorado. He was a member of the Nazarene Church of El Dorado.
Survivors include his wife, Evelyn of the home; one son, Robert LeRoy Hanks of the home; four daughters, Lori Renee Hanks and Robin Leigh Hanks, both of the home, Stephanie Mauck of Lyons and Stacey Scott of Sterling; his mother, Helen Hanks of El Dorado; one brother, Walter R. Hanks of Wichita, one sister, Ruthann Collier of El Dorado; and eight grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father, and by one brother, Richard.

Services for William L. "Bill" Hanks, 53, of El Dorado were held Thursday morning at Carlson's Colonial Chapel. Burial followed the services in Walnut Valley Memorial Park. He died Monday, Oct. 21.
The Rev. Garry Wright, pastor of the Church of the Nazarene, officiated at the services. "Bridge Over Troubled Waters," and "My Way" were played during the services.
Casket bearers were Roger Tullis, Sr., James Taylor, Pete Henderson, Andrew Cervantes, Calvin Hicks, and Kenneth Powers. Honorary bearers were Don Holloday, John Martin and Billy Countryman. (El Dorado Times, Oct. 25, 1985)
Hazel Hardesty, 87, of rural Leon, died early Wednesday morning at her home. Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at the Leon Cemetery. Burial will follow the services.
She was born April 6, 1898, at Leon, the daughter of Harry C. and Olive Brissey Richardson. She attended school at Leon and was an elementary teacher for several years. She worked at Boeing in Wichita during the war. She lived in Wichita and Medicine Lodge before returning to Leon.
She was a member of the Eastern Star.
On June 8, 1922, she married Glenn Hardesty at Medicine Lodge. He preceded her in death on Dec. 26, 1972.
Survivors include a son, Robert Kent Hardesty, Artesia, N.M.
The Rev. Keith Mace, pastor of the Leon United Methodist Church, will officiate at the services.

Jessie P. Harlow, 66, of Arkansas City, a retired teacher and mother of Kathleen Rucker of Douglass, died Monday. Services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Wednesday at Rindt-Erdman-Oldroyd Funeral Home in Arkansas City.
Other survivors include her husband, W. H.; daughter, Carolyn Viers of Fredonia, mother and stepfather, Lonnie and Nellie Andrew of Arkansas City, sister, Cletha McCoy of San Gabriel, Calif., and four grandchildren.

Graveside services at the Whitewater Cemetery were held at 10 a.m. today for Bella S. Hash, 77, who died Saturday. Pastor Don Hertog of the Swiss Mennonite Church officiated.
Survivors include a son, Phillip Hagan of Aurora, Colo., a sister, Jane Adams, of Whitewater and three grandchildren.

Gladys M. Hasty, 80, of Fredonia and the mother of an El Dorado woman, died Friday at St. Francis Hospital in Wichita. Funeral services were held today at 2 p.m. in the chapel of the Timmons Funeral Home in Fredonia, with Eldon Rogers of the Church of Christ of Neodesha officiating. Burial was in the Fredonia City Cemetery.
She was born March 8, 1905 in Gilford, Kan., the daughter of Andrew and Bertha Mae Jordan Mattix. She was a housewife. She married Fred Hasty Dec. 5, 1927 in Bartlesville, Okla. He preceded her in death Feb. 20, 1973.
She was a member of the Church of Christ of Neodesha.
She is survived by a son, Robert J., of Dodge City, four daughters Ella Mae Clifford of Anaheim, Calif., Betty Pauline Hoff of Fredonia, Emma Faye Wilson of Montrose, Colo., and Laura Ruth Nace of El Dorado, a brother, Gerald Mattix of Fredonia, 13 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
A daughter, Julia Ann Hasty preceded her in death.
