HOLLADAY, OBIE R. & RUTH (STEPHENS)
Many Friends Greet the Holladays at 40th Anniversary Open House
Heavy downpours of rain failed to deter the many friends of Mr. and Mrs. Obie R. Holladay who called to extend congratulations on the Holladays' 40th anniversary last Sunday. With their children as hosts, open house was maintained from 2 until 5 o'clock in the Holladay home, 430 Broadview.
The honored couple are parents of two daughters, Mrs. Kenneth (Mary Ruth) Bracken of El Dorado and Mrs. Bert (Margaret) Hays of Dewey, Okla., and two sons, Robert Holladay and Don Holladay, both of El Dorado. Another son, Thomas Roland Holladay met death in Marine Corps duty in Pacific theatre during World War II.
The 11 grandchildren of the Holladays are Shelly, Tracey, Kenny and Cheri Bracken; Bobby, Marte, Karolee, Dawn, Lynn, Stephen, and Ricky Holladay and Ervene Hays.
Presiding at the hospitality table were Mrs. Robert (Betty Brunson) Holladay, who cut the wedding cake, and Mrs. Donald (Marcia Richey) Holladay, who served the punch.
Mr. and Mrs. Holladay were the recipients of many gifts and greetings of congratulations. An additional highlight was a conversation by telephone with Mrs. T. H. Stephens, mother of Mrs. Holladay; Nancy McMillian, a niece; Jerry Hansen, a nephew and Mrs. Hansen, all residents of Laramie, Wyo.
Mrs. Holladay - the former Ruth Stephens - and Mr. Holladay were married in the court house at El Dorado on October 15, 1923, with Judge Volney P. Mooney presiding.
Mr. and Mrs. Holladay have spent the entire period of their married life in El Dorado. For more than 40 years, Mr. Holladay has been associated with the Cities Service Oil Company. At present he is serving as a pumper for the Kirkpatrick lease and other Cities Service properties.
Sharing the occasion with the Holladay family group here were the following guests from out of town, as well as many El Doradoans; Mr. and Mrs. Everett Hansen of Laramie, Wyo.; Mr. and Mrs. Ed Wilkerson of Centralia, Mo., Mr. and Mrs. Bert Hays and Ervene of Dewey, Okla., Mr. and Mrs. Earl Holladay of Peabody, Mrs. Laura Evans of Sterling, Mr. and Mrs. Everett Pulliam of Augusta; Mr. and Mrs. H.
