JOHNSON, MILES & MARY (KNOCK)

COUPLE TO OBSERVE FIFTIETH ANNIVERSARY

Mr. and Mrs. Miles Johnson will observe their Golden Wedding anniversary with open house Feb. 23 in Fellowship Hall of the Methodist Church at Rose Hill. Friends and relatives are invited to call between the hours of 2:00 and 5:00.

Their daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Lester Hoch, 3001 Shelton, Wichita, and two grandchildren, Mr. and Mrs. Tom Tomlin of Valley Center, Rt. 1; and Mr. and Mrs. Leland Hoch, 2026 Columbine, Wichita, and their four great-grandchildren, will be reception hosts.

Miles Johnson and Mary Knock were married in Wichita on Feb. 25, 1914. They have lived most of their lives near Rose Hill and have lived all their married life where they now reside on Route 2, Derby. (Rose Hill News, 1964, transcribed by Peg Luce)

JUELFS, MR. AND MRS. ALLEN

Golden Anniversary Celebration for the A. Juelfs on January 1

Mr. and Mrs. Allen Juelfs will celebrate their fiftieth wedding anniversary on Wednesday, January 1, at an open house at their home, 415 South Taylor. Their children, Mrs. Ruben Romeiser of Timken and Paul Juelfs, 637 Frazier will be hosts for the affair. Friends of the couple are invited to call between 2 and 5 p.m.

Rev. J. G. M. Hursh, father of Mrs. Juelfs, officiated at the marriage of Mr. and Mrs. Juelfs in Vandalia, Ill., on Jan. 1, 1914. In 1919, the couple moved to McPherson where Mr. Juelfs operated a machine shop and custom manufacturing company until 1948. They moved to El Dorado in 1948 and have lived in the community since that time. Mr. Juelfs and his son operated the Juelfs Tire and Supply Company. In 1960, the firm was sold, and Mr. Juelf's retired.

The Juelfs have been members of Grace Lutheran church for 15 years and have been active in many phases of church work. Mr. Juelfs served as a deacon in the church for six years.

Grandchildren of the couple are Scott, Ben, and June Ann Juelfs, all of El Dorado. (El Dorado Times, Dec. 17, 1963, transcribed by Peg Luce)

Mr & Mrs. Jack Thompsons Mark their 50th Anniversay

Mr. and Mrs. Blain (Jack) Thompson celebrated their golden wedding anniversary Sunday. Their children were all present.

They have three daughters and two sons, Dorothy Smitherman, Mr. and Mrs. Carl Lehr and children, Mr. and Mrs. Bob Neeley and children of Augusta, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Thompson of Salina, and Mr. and Mrs. James Thompson of Topeka.

Others present included Mr. Thompson's brothers and sisters, Mr. and Mrs. Milon Hedrick, Nellie Thompson and Mr. and Mrs. Hubert Thompson, and about 200 other relatives and friends helped them make the day a memorable one.

Many lovely gifts, flowers and cards were received.

Two of their granddaughters, Carla Jo Lehr and Kerry Neeley, served cake and punch.

Colored pictures were taken of the lovely cake, gifts, relatives and friends, which will be enjoyed for many years.

Mr. and Mrs. Thompson have 14 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Mr. and Mrs. Thompson were married in 1914 in Newport, Ark., and moved here in 1917. Mr. Thompson ran a grocery business for years where Lunger Furniture is now located.
