An autopsy was scheduled for this morning at a Wichita hospital. The cause of death has not bee officially determined.

POLICE HAVE NO MOTIVE OF SUSPECT YET IN DEATH OF WOMAN AT AUGUSTA

Officers are continuing to investigate the stabbing death of the 18-year-old Kay Robinson in Augusta late Tuesday but have no motive or suspect in the killing, Sheriff Dave Williams said today.

Miss Robinson's body was found at 1:30 a.m. Wednesday by her boyfriend, Mike Rogers, when he returned home to his duplex at 926 Lulu in Augusta. Rogers, about 20 years old and a second shift worker at Boeing in Wichita has been "pretty much rulled out" as a suspect, Williams said.

The victim was last seen when she left her job as a waitress at Lehr's Restaurant about 10 p.m. Tuesday. She apparently then drove to Rogers' residence to wait for him.

No signs of forced entry were found at the crime scene, Williams said, indicating that the assailant could have been waiting for Miss Robinson, or followed her into the residence or been let in by her.

No signs of a struggle were mentioned by Williams, although he said that Miss Robinson did have some bruises on her shoulder. An autopsy report confirmed that she died of stab wounds, but a sexual assault has not been confirmed. The victim's throat had been slashed twice. Her body was found in a bedroom.

Officers spent Wednesday and part of Wednesday night questioning neighbors and fellow employees and conducting an investigation at the crime scene, Williams said. More questioning was planned for today. A knife was found at the scene but investigators do not believe it was the murder weapon, Williams said.

Rogers and Miss Robinson were planning to be married and were going to shop for rings this week, he added.

Services for Miss Robinson will be held at 2:30 p.m. Friday at the First Baptist Church at Augusta with the Rev. Richard Axmann officiating. Burial will be in the Elmwood Cemetery at Augusta.

Miss Robinson was born at El Dorado on Feb. 9, 1961, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Robinson of Augusta. Also surviving are two sisters, Mrs. Sue Jones of Louisville, Colo., and Mrs. Jan Colvin of Lenexa; her grandmother, Mrs. Nina Jones of Augusta, and three nieces and nephews.

ARREST TWO MEN FOR MURDER OF AUGUSTA WOMAN

Two Augusta men were to have been arraigned in Butler County District Court at 1 p.m. today for the stabbing murder of Kay Robinson, 18, in Augusta earlier this week.

Allen Ray Jordan, 23, and Douglas L. Williams 22, were arrested Friday afternoon by officers. Neither man offered any resistance, Sheriff Dave Williams said.

Douglas Williams was arrested in Andover by Capt. George Small of the Augusta Department of Public Safety and an agent from the Kansas Bureau of Investigation. Another KBI agent and Steve Shaffer, ADPS chief, arrested Jordan at his apartment next door to the apartment were Robinson's body was found early Wednesday.

Jordan and Douglas Williams both lived at 926 Lulu in Augusta. Robinson's body was found in the same four-plex when her boyfriend, Mike Rogers, returned to his apartment there about 1:30 a.m. Wednesday from his second-shift job at Boeing in Wichita.

Investigators found fingerprints at the scene and flew them to the KBI in Topeka at 7 a.m. Friday, Sheriff Williams said. A positive match was found in the KBI files quickly, he said.

Each of the two suspects is being charged with murder, rape, kidnapping and burglary. A kidnapping charge can be filed when a person is held against his or her will, and a burglary charge can be filed when a break-in happens with the intent to commit a theft or a felony crime.

An autopsy performed in Wichita has confirmed that Miss Robinson died of knife wounds. Her throat had been slashed twice. However, authorities are still waiting for the results of laboratory tests to confirm whether she was raped.

Miss Rogers was to have graduated from Augusta High School this month and had planned to marry Rogers. She had worked as a waitress at Lehr's Restaurant, where she was seen leaving at 10 p.m. Tuesday. She then apparently went to Roger's apartment to wait for him.
