KEMPER, RHODA R.

Rhoda R. (Scrivner) Kemper, 96, Augusta, homemaker, passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2007. Visitation will be from 1 to 7 p.m., with family to greet friends from 4 to 6 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 4, at Dunsford-Zeiner Funeral Home, Augusta.

Memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 5, at the First United Methodist Church in Augusta. There will be a private family graveside service at Elmwood Cemetery, Augusta.

Rhoda was born on July 1, 1910 in Potwin, the daughter of Harry and Sarah (Howell) Scrivner.

She married Clarence Glen Kemper on April 3, 1928. He preceded her in death in Aug. 1985.

Her survivors are: daughter and son-in-law, Sarah and Dick Hammond; grandsons, Glen Hammond and Douglas (Nancy) Hammond, all of Augusta.

Memorial donations may go to the First United Methodist Church, 2420 N. Ohio, Augusta, 67010, or Hospice Care of Kansas, 206 Central, El Dorado, 67042.

KNAUSSMAN, THEODORE F.

Theodore F. Knaussman, 91, of 616 N. Alleghany, died Tuesday morning at a local nursing home. Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Thursday at the Kirby-Morris Funeral Home. Burial will follow the services at the Ebenezer Cemetery.

Knaussman was born Jan. 16, 1891 in Marquette, Kan., the son of Karl and Wilhelmina Weid Knaussman. In 1899 his family moved to the Burns, Kan., area where he lived most of his life.

On Sept. 15, 1927 he was married to Ruby Ammeter in the Ebenezer parsonage.

After the death of his wife, he moved to the El Dorado area to live. He was a retired farmer and a veteran of World War I. He was a member of the Ebenezer United Methodist Church, the VFW Post, World War I Barracks and the American Legion.

Survivors include two sons, Howard of El Dorado and Robert of Emporia; one daughter, Mrs. Larry (Theo Jean) Winzer of El Dorado; one sister, Mrs. Myrtle Kipfer, of Hitchcock, Texas; and seven grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, three brothers, two sisters and two grandchildren.

A memorial has been established with the Ebenezer United Methodist Church. Contributions can be sent to the Kirby-Morris Funeral Home, which is in charge of arrangements. (El Dorado Times ~ 24 Aug 1982)

KUFFLER, ELDON E. (PETE)

Services will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the First Southern Baptist Church for Eldon E. (Pete) Kuffler, 54, of 918 Orient, who died Sunday morning at Allen Memorial Hospital. Graveside services and burial will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Oak Wood Cemetery in Parsons.

He was born June 17, 1928 at Parsons, the son of Henry and Ida Quirin Kuffler. He was a construction carpenter and retired in 1970 due to ill health. He moved to El Dorado from Yates Center and previous to that had lived in Parsons, where he was raised. He was a member of the Flatlands C.B. Club and served in the Army during World War II.

He married Peggy Hobbs on Aug. 13, 1965 at Yates Center.

Survivors include his wife, of the home; two daughters, Sherrie Sutton and June Marie Key, both of Independence, Kan.; one step-son, Howard Hobbs of Pacheco, Calif.; two step-daughters, Aleta Runyan of Wellington and Johnna Gilder of Glendale, Ariz.; three brothers, Chard, Edward and Earl, all of Parsons; nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three sons, one daughter, three sisters and one brother.

KNAUSSMAN, GOTTLEB H.

Funeral services were held July 31 for G.H. Knaussman, Route 1, Burns. The service was held at the Ebenezer Methodist church with the Rev. R. Bruce Southard officiating.

Gottleb H. Knaussman was born Oct. 4, 1886, in McPherson county and died July 28, at the Axtell Hospital in Newton.

Mr. Knaussman moved to the Burns community with his parents, the late Mr. and Mrs. Karl Knaussman, when he was 13 years of age.

On Feb. 28, 1912, he was united in marriage with Anna Vogelman.

Mr. Knaussman was a member of the Ebenezer Methodist Church and a member of the township board for many years.

Survivors inlcude his wife, Anna, one brother, T.F. Knaussman of Burns, and one sister, Myrtle Kiffer of Hitchcock, Texas.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Betty Jo, who died in infancy, by two brothers, Charles and John, and two sisters, Mary Gfeller and Katie Knaussman. (El Dorado Times ~ 5 Aug 1964)

KINNEY, PEARL

KINNEY SERVICES SET FOR TUESDAY

Funeral services for Mrs. Pearl Kinney, 58, a life-long resident of El Dorado, will be held Tuesday at 10 a.m. at the Dietz-Pittman Colonial chapel. Mrs. Kinney, of 713 Park Avenue, died Saturday.

Maj. Claude Reeder of the Dodge City Salvation Army will officiate. He will be assisted by Capt. John Churchill of El Dorado. Interment will be in Sunset Lawns Cemetery.

Mrs. Kinney was born at El Dorado June 23, 1905. She was married Dec. 11, 1929, at Cottonwood Falls.

She is survived by her husband of the home; three sons, Tim G. of the home, George, Anchorage, Alaska, and Mickey Pearl, stationed with the United States Navy at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii; three daughters, Lieut. Lucy Kinney, Charles City, Iowa, Joy Kinney of Newton, and Capt. Alta Kinney, Independence, Kan.; one brother, Earl Essex of Nebraska; and one sister, Mrs. Jim Harvey, 500 North Washington.

A son, Jackie Melvin Kinney, preceded her in death. (El Dorado Times ~ 17 Feb 1964)

SERVICES HELD FOR MRS. PEARL KINNEY

Final rites for Mrs. Pearl Kinney, 58, of 713 Park Avenue, who died Saturday, were held this morning at the Dietz-Pittman Colonial Chapel.

Maj. Claude Reeder of the Dodge City Salvation Army officiated. He was assisted by Capt. John Churchill of El Dorado.

Miss Barbara Brown at the organ accompanied Mrs. Agnes Brown who sang, "Good Night and Good Morning," and "When I Take My Vacation in Heaven."

Casket bearers were Jerry Lee Hartgrove, Raymond Johnson, Guy Prewitt, Raymond Keplar, Boyd Matthews, and Russell A. Essex.

Members of the Salvation Army corp. attended the services in a group.

KNAUSSMAN, JOHN G.

JOHN G. KNAUSSMAN DIES; RITES THURSDAY

John G. Knaussman, 75, of Route 1, Burns, a retired farmer and stockman, died early this morning at Allen Memorial hospital. He had been in poor health since suffering a stroke in 1955.

Mr. Knaussman came to the Burns area with his parents, the late Mr. and Mrs. Karl Knaussman, when he was 11 years old.

He was a member of the Ebenezer Methodist church and the Modern Woodsmen of America.

He was born Jan. 17, 1889, in McPherson county.

Survivors include two brothers, Gottlob and Theodore F., both of Route 1, Burns; and one sister, Mrs. Myrtle Kipfer, Hitchcock, Tex.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Charles, and two sisters, Mrs. Mary Gfeller and Miss Katie Knaussman.

Funeral services will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at the Ebenezer Methodist church. The Rev. Bruce Southard, pastor, will officiate. Interment will be in the Ebenezer cemetery.

JOHN G. KNAUSSMAN SERVICES ARE HELD

Funeral services for John G. Knaussman, 75, who died Tuesday, were held Thursday afternoon at the Ebenezer Methodist church in Burns.

The Rev. Bruce Southard, pastor, officiated at the services.

Mrs. Arnold Gfeller sang "When They Ring Those Golden Bells." The organist was Mrs. Gene Obee.

Serving as casket bearers were Irvin Eicher, Bob Phillips, Alfred Wiebe, Chris Ammeter, Orville Winsor and Edd Helmer.

Interment was in Ebenezer cemetery.

KING, CLARENCE ROYAL

FATHER OF EDWIN KING IS DEAD

Funeral services were held on Wednesday afternoon at Augusta for Clarence Royal King, 74, who passed away Sunday at Veterans hospital in Wichita. Dr. C. William Nichols officiated. Burial was in Elmwood cemetery.

Clarence Royal King was born Sept. 19, 1889, at Beloit, the son of Benjamin D. and Priscilla King. He was married to Charlotte Eva Ross on March 28, 1920, at Alva, Okla.

Mrs. King survives in addition to two daughters, Marjorie Payne of Electra, Tex., and Verna Pierce of Chula Vista, Calif.; three sons, Edwin R. of Douglass, Alonzo F. of Topeka, and Oma R. of Wichita; three brothers, Jim of Alva, Okla., Roy of Hardtner, Kans., and Bennie of Wenatchie, Wash.; and a sister, Mrs. Olive Turner of LaJunta, Colo.

KING, MAUD GERTRUDE

FUNERAL RITES HELD FOR MRS. MAUD KING

Funeral services for Mrs. Maud Gertrude King, 74, who died Monday, were held Thursday afternoon at the Dietz-Pittman Colonial Chapel.

The Rev. Donald D. McCracken, pastor of the First Christian Church, officiated.

Mrs. Amos Marsh at the organ accompanied Graydon Waldorf who sang, "Good Night and Good Morning," and "Beyond the Sunset."

Casket bearers included Keith Charles, Frank R. Smith, Ray Perry, Donald Smith, Jerry Matthews, and Charlie Smith.
