Kay C. Lachenmayr, 59, of Newton, died Friday, Dec. 31, 1999, at Newton Medical Center. Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Jan 4, 2000, at Trinity Heights United Methodist Church in Newton with the Rev. Don Swender officiating. Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery in Newton. Visitationis from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday, Jan. 3, and from 9 a.m. to noon Tuesday, Jan 4 at Broadway Colonial Funeral Home in Newton. The family will greet friends Monday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. There will be a flower card reading at 12:45 p.m. Tuesday, at the church.
She was born Feb. 6, 1940 in Newton to Luther D. and Gladys M. (Hatch) McJilton. She attended Newton public schools graduating from Newton High School in 1958. On Dec. 27, 1959, she married Howard M. Lachenmayr in the Youthville Chapel in Newton. He survives.
She was co-owner and realtor for Century 21, Morgan-McJilton Realty of Newton for the past 27 years. She was a member of the Trinity Heights United Methodist Church, a member of the Board of Directors for Mirror,Inc., a charter member of the Board of Directors of Northview Development Services and also a Board Member of the Newton Chamber of Commerce since 1998, and the Newton board of Realtors, all of Newton.
She was active in the Lambs Investment Club since 1991, served as a counselor on the McPherson Area Council for Alcohol & Drug Counseling from 1995-97, and was a member of the Wichita Area Board of Realtors, Multi-List Committee and formerly served on the Board of the Kansas State Realtors.
She also served as a volunteer for the Victim/Offender Ministries Program, Prairie View Mental Health Center for 19 years and Parents Helping Parents Program, all of Newton.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by a son and duaghter-in-law, John and Jill Lachenmayr of Newton; dughter, Kirsten Lachenmayr of Newton; daughter and son-in-law, Jane and Marlow Penner of Sedgwick; four sisters, Barbara Fabic of Gaitherburg, Md., Shirley Gates of Denver, Loretta Bowersock of Dana Point, Calif. and Darla Neal of Hutchinson; granddaughters, Ashley and Brooke Lachenmayr of Newton.
She was preceded in death by her parents.

Death of Mrs. Lackey.
Nancy Ellen Morrow-Lackey
Mrs. N.E. Lackey, wife of A.W. Lackey, Esq., died at their home four miles southeast of Douglass, Saturday afternoon the 17st inst., after a severe illness, aged 50 years.
The funeral occurred on Sunday the 18th, conducted by her pastor, Rev. Sawyer, the minister in charge of Mt. Tabor and Rock. The remains were taken to Richland cemetery for internment.
The deceased was a daughter of the late Mr. Morrow, of Richland township, where she resided a number of years. About 12 years ago she was married to Mr. Lackey. Alice Lafferty Dies in Illinois
Word was received Saturday from Mrs. H. W. Schumacher, that her sister, Miss Alice Lafferty, who was taken seriously sick the first of the week at her home in Clinton, Ill., died Thursday and the funeral was to be held Saturday morning. Mrs. Schumacher reached Clinton Tuesday.
Miss Lafferty formerly lived in El Dorado, having moved away several years ago. (Walnut Valley Times, February 6, 1914)
Marcus Leis, 75, of rural Augusta, retired Cessna sheet metal fabricator, farmer and stockman, passed away Tuesday, April 3, 2007. Closed casket visitation with family Sunday from 5 p.m. to the 7 p.m. Rosary. Funeral Mass 11 a.m. Monday, April 9, 2007, all at St. James Catholic Church, Augusta. Burial will be at Dunlap Cemetery, rural Rose Hill.
His survivors include: wife, Esther; children, Darrell Leis, Paul Leis, Beverly Rossio, Michael Leis, Donna Meek, Richard Leis, Theresa Gray; brothers, Robert and Victor Leis; sisters, Betty Gehlen, Joyce Magnussen and Lola Small; 18 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. James Catholic Church Building Fund 1012 Belmont Avenue, Augusta, Kansas 67010.

Death of James Lingenfelter.
James Lingenfelter, an old citizen of Douglass, passed away on Wednesday last, the 7th inst., in the 82nd year of his age. Old age and kidney trouble was the cause of his death.
"Daddy" Lingenfelter was rather an old man when he came to Douglass about 25 years ago, but for a number of years was actively engaged in business. He was a member of the drug firm of Wise & Lingenfelter for a considerable time, the late Sol Wise being his son-in-law.
He was a native of Maryland, but came west in early life, finally coming to Kansas. He was an honest man, a good citizen, and no one was kinder or more attentive to the sick in the neighborhood.
He leaves an aged widow here at Douglass, and three sons by a former marriage in other states.

Milton Loyd dies at Arkansas City
Milton Loyd, 82, retired building foreman for Lord Construction Company, died Monday at Arkansas City. Services were to have been held Wednesday afternoon at the Erdman-Oldroyd Funeral Home at Arkansas City.
Survivors are two sons, Jack of Arkansas City and Bill of Derby; four daughters, Mrs. Lucille Jones of Arkansas City, Mrs. Mary Crouse of Denver, Mrs. Pat Bebout of Kayenta, Ariz., and Mrs. Bobbie Martin of Claremore, Okla; three sisters, Mrs. Ruth Bongard of Wichita, Mrs. Georgia Low of Moberly Mo., and Mrs. Bernice Hull of Towanda. Former Resident dies at Wichita
Olive E. Luce, 68, Newton, a former El Dorado resident, died Friday at Wichita.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Hilyard-Smith Funeral Home at Douglass with burial in the Douglass Cemetery.
Survivors include a son, Charles of Lebanon, Mo.; three daughters, Mrs. Ethel Stewart of Newton, Mrs. Elizabeth Greep and Mrs. Peggy Hutto, both of Elberta, Calif; three brothers, Lucian Brannon of Carlsbad, N. Mex., Kenneth Brannon of Wichita, and Jim Brannon of Claremore, Okla.; two sisters, Mrs. Christine Snyder and Mrs. Berta Andres, both of Winfield; 10 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
