LAMB, LAWRENCE A.

Services for Lawrence A. Lamb, Newton, retired funeral director, were held at 9:30 a.m. Monday, Sept. 27, at Lamb-Nutter Mortuary, Whitewater. Graveside services were held at 3 p.m. in Oakwood Cemetery, Baldwin. He died Sept. 24, 1993 at Newton Medical Center.

Rev. James Swank officiated the services. Music was provided by the Lamp Lighters Quartet. Memorials were to Eastside United Methodist Church and Friendly Acres Nursing Home. He married Arvilla Ellis on June 30, 1940. She preceded him in death June 6, 1981. On Sept. 25, 1982, he and Virdine Wright were married. She survives. (El Dorado Times, Sept. 30, 1993

LAMB, LAWRENCE GEORGE

Lawrence George Lamb, 63, of Centerton, Ark., formerly of El Dorado died Wednesday, Aug. 18, 1993. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in Walnut Valley Memorial Cemetery in El Dorado.

He was born July 8, 1930 in El Dorado, to Harold and Eva (Medcalf) Lamb. He married Helen Marilyn Stackley. He was a retired Kansas oil businessman and owner of L & L Oil Co in Benedict, and had been active in home construction in Arkansas for the past 10 years.

Survivors include: wife, Helen, mother and stepfather, Eva and Eldon Phillips of El Dorado, sons Douglas, Dennis, both of Benedict, Dean of Fredonia, daughter, Christina Martin of Centerton, Ark.; four grandchildren, two step-grandchildren.

Memorials are to the El Dorado Historical Musuem. Timmons Funeral Home in Fredonia has the arrangements. Visitation will be held at the home of Eva Phillips Friday evening and Saturday afternoon. (El Dorado Times, August 19, 1993)

LANDRETH, LAURA

Funeral services for Mrs. Laura Landreth, 86, of Sterling, Kan., a former El Doradoan, were held Tuesday at the Johnson Sons Chapel at Hutchinson. Interment was in Belle Vista Cemetery at El Dorado.

Mrs. Landreth died Sunday in a Hutchinson hospital.

She had lived at Sterling for the past 10 years. She was born May 8, 1877, at Marion, Ind.

Survivors include: four daughters, Betty Bigelow with whom she made her home, Ruth Betz, of Columbia, Mo., Beulah Edwards and Ruby Casinder, both of Sterling, a son, Jack, Burbank, Calif., a brother, Frank Rennaker, El Dorado and a sister, Emma Reed of California. (El Dorado times, Oct. 9, 1963)

LEMASTER, WILLIAM HARVEY

William Harvey Lemaster, an El Doradoan for 41 years, died Monday night at Allen Memorial Hospital following a lengthy illness. Mr. Lemaster, who lived at 604 North Vine was 83 years old.

Mr. Lemaster was an oil well driller prior to his retirement 10 years ago. He came to El Dorado in 1922 from West Virginia.

He was born Sept. 4, 1880 at New Martinsville, W. Va. He and Anna J. Anderson were married Nov. 7, 1919 at Eureka. She survives.

Other survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Mildred Fisher of Wichita, a foster son, Michael Speaker of Wichita, three brothers, Arvil of Lost Creek, W. Va., Willard of New Martinsville, and earl of Cameron, W. Va., four sisters, Mrs. Alma Smith and Mrs. Etta Huggins, both of Mingo Junction, Ohio, Mrs. Ona Mustgrove of Wileysville, W. Va. and Mrs. Dephia Paulman of Steubenville, W. Va.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Arliss, who died in October of this year and a son, Raymond M. who died in 1945.

Funeral services will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. from the Dietz-Pittman Colonial Chapel. The Rev. Edward S. Freeland, pastor of the Andover Baptist Church will officiate. Interment will be in Sunset Lawns Cemetery. (El Dorado Times, Dec. 17, 1963)

LETTERMAN, MARION LESLIE

Marion Leslie Letterman, 71, carpet installer of Springfield, Mo., died Wednesday, Aug. 11, 1993 at his home. Services are 11 a.m. Saturday at the Niangua (Mo.) Freewill Baptist Church with Rev. Roger Hicks officiating. Burial will be in the Niangua Cemetery.

He was born June 12, 1922 in St. John’s, Kan., to Leslie Andrew and Hettie Velma Ewing Letterman. He was a dairy farmer for many years.

Survivors include: sons, Paul Letterman of Andover, Gene Letterman of Springfield, Mo., daughters, Bonnie Duntz of El Dorado, betty Sheets of Lebanon, Mo., Vicki Bossi of Springfield, step son Dale Lowery of Ozark, Ala., 10 grandchildren, nine step grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, sisters, Marie Calton of Conway, Mo., Lela Hicks of Niangua, Hettie Gardner of Naples, Fla.

LEWIS, MARY E.

Mrs. Mary E. Lewis, 82, of 1705 Ellis, Wichita, who died Sunday, September 22, was born in El Dorado, November 15, 1880 and had lived in Wichita since 1923.

Surviving is a daughter, Mrs. Margaret Wells, of the home.

Services were held Wednesday in Wichita, with graveside services and interment in Sunset Lawns at El Dorado. (El Dorado Times, Sept. 26, 1963)

LIETZKE, GILBERT WILLIAM

Gilbert William Lietzke, 80, of El Dorado, died Tuesday at Susan B. Allen Memorial Hospital. Services are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Friday at Trinity United Methodist Church in El Dorado. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery in Augusta.

He was born July 17, 1905 in rural Haverhill, the son of August Carl and Jennie Jolena (Grant) Lietzke. He was married June 4, 1946 in El Dorado to Naomi Schadt. She survives.

He was a retired farmer and lived near the Haverhill area for 79 years. He was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church.

Other survivors include two sisters, Dorothy Bower of El Dorado and Viola Boucher of Pryor, Okla.

Memorial has been established with the Trinity United Methodist Church or Friendly Acres Nursing Home in Newton.

LIETZKE, HAROLD W.

Harold Wayne Lietzke, 72, of 1202 S. Ford, died late Sunday evening at Susan B. Allen Memorial Hospital. Services will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Carlsons Colonial chapel. Burial will follow the services in Walnut Valley Memorial Park.

He was born Nov. 3, 1913 at Haverhill the son of Albert John and Mary Ann Grant Lietzke. He worked for Rice Chevrolet for 40 years as service manager until retiring in 1975. He was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene and a former member of the Elks and Moose clubs. During the war he maintained the buses used to transport workers to the defense plants in Wichita. He moved to El Dorado in 1936 from a farm near Haverhill.

On Nov. 24, 1934, he married Dorothy M. Dodson in a ceremony at El Dorado.

Survivors include his wife of the home, a son, Harry of Leon, three daughters, Barbara Henman of Leon, Dedra Bishop of McLoud, Okla., and Peggy Kasper of Great Bend, a brother Donald of Augusta, a godson, Donald L. Dodson of El Dorado and nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and three sisters.

Memorials in his memory for the El Dorado Nazarene Church may be left at the church or at Carlsons Funeral Home, where friends may call. (El Dorado times, Feb. 4, 1986)

Services for Harold W. Lietzke were held Thursday afternoon at Carlson Colonial Chapel. Burial followed the services in Walnut Valley Memorial Park. Mr. Lietzke died Sunday, Feb. 2.

The Rev. Garry Wright, pastor of the Nazarene church, officiated at the services. Mrs. A. J. Brazil, at the organ, played selected music for the prelude and the postlude. Mrs. Joyce Livengood sang “In the Garden” and “The Old Rugged Cross.”

LINCOLN, HELENA E.

Helena E. Lincoln, 85, of Ashland, former Newton resident, homemaker and mother of Alice Scheve of Rose Hill, died Sunday July 13, 1986. Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Ashland and 4 p.m. Thursday at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Newton.

Other survivors include sons, John of Cleveland and Robert of Emporia, daughter, Mary Krier of Ashland, and 10 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Memorial has been established with the American Cancer Society.

LINDENBAUM, REGENIA A.

Regenia L. Lindenbaum, 67, of Augusta, retired American Red Cross blood program registered nurse and former McPherson resident, died Thursday, June 19, 1986. Service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Trinity Lutheran Church in McPherson.

Survivors include a son, Kerry of Westwood, daughter, Valerie DeWitt of Augusta, brother, Oscar Peterson of McPherson, sister, Adeline Masoero of San Francisco, and three grandchildren.

Memorials have been established with Trinity Lutheran Church and Lutheran Hour.

LINK, BRAD A.

Brad A. Link, 16, of Route 1, El Dorado, died Tuesday evening, Oct. 7, 1986, at Wesley Medical Center, Wichita of injuries received in an automobile accident. Funeral services are scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Friday at the Bluestem High School in Leon. Burial will be in Walnut Valley Memorial Park Cemetery in El Dorado.

Brad was born March 22, 1970 in El Dorado, the son of Chuck and Janice Marie (Gann) Link. He had lived all his life in the El Dorado area. He was a junior at Bluestem High School in Leon, where he was a member of the football and wrestling teams. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and working on his pickup. He also worked part time with his father.

Surviving family include his parents, Chuck and Jan Link of the home; one brother and sister-in-law, Greg and Julie Link of El Dorado, grandparents, V. J. and Mildred Link of Piqua, Kan., great grandmother Callie Gann of El Dorado, five uncles and four aunts.

Brad was preceded in death by his grandparents, Arlie and Marie Gann and one uncle, Ron Gann.

A memorial has been established with the athletic department at Bluestem High school. Contributions may be sent to the Kirby Morris Funeral Home, who has charge of the arrangements. (El Dorado Times, Oct. 8, 1986)

Memorial services for Brad A. Lin, 16, of Route 1, El Dorado, were held at 1:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 10, 1986 at Bluestem High School in Leon. Burial followed the services in Walnut Valley Memorial Park Cemetery in El Dorado. He died Tuesday, Oct. 7.

Father Jim Jackson of Wichita officiated at the services. Pianist was Mrs. Loren Aldrich. Vocalist was Mr. Bob Simmons. Musical sections were “One Day at a time” and “The Lord’s Prayer.”

Casket bearers were Darian Eshelman, Mike Schill, Ward Wilson, Brian Lewis, Korey Howell, Mike Hasting, Mike Thomas and Matt Craft. Honorary casket bearers were Allen Barg, Dwane Spies, Kenneth Houpt, Mark Wonser, Lyle Grewing and assistant football coaches of the Bluestem High School football team and the Bluesteam High School cheerleading squad.

LINSENMAYER, EDITH M.

Edith M. Linsenmayer, 92, of McPherson, homemaker and mother of Marcella Drouillard of Augusta, died Thursday, July 10, 1986. Service will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at ball and Son Funeral Home in McPherson.

Other survivors include her husband, Walter, son Walter, Jr., of Jacksonville, Fla., daughters, Eva Sweeney of Mountain Home, Ark. and vendetta Nutter of Wichita, and three grandchildren and five great-grandchildrenn.

LIPSCOMB, WILLIAM JOSEPH

William Joseph Lipscomb, of 1503 Old Manor, Wichita, died Wednesday. He was 33 years old.

Funeral services will be Saturday morning at 10:30 at the Kirby Funeral Home at El Dorado with the Rev. Father William Cremin of Walnut officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Lawn Cemetery at El Dorado.

The rosary will be read at the Kirby Funeral Home at El Dorado Friday evening at 7:30.

The deceased was born at El Dorado, Oct. 29, 1930.

He was a graduate of El Dorado high school, living in El Dorado until 1947, when he moved to Eureka, leaving there only a short time ago to live in Wichita.

He is survived by his wife, a son, Danny, three daughters, Cynthia, Jacquelin and Sandra Jo. Other survivors include his parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Lipscomb of El Dorado, two sisters, Mrs. Erma Bryan of Augusta and Mrs. Mildred Munsell of Bartlesville, Okla., and three brothers, Lawrence of El Dorado, Charles of Augusta and Hubert of medicine Lodge. LISTER, HELEN

Helen Lister, 90, of Douglass, a homemaker, died Wednesday, Feb. 5. Services were held at 2 p.m. today at Douglass cemetery.

LITTELL, WELDON H.

Weldon H. Littell, 77, of Rolla, retired insurance agent and father of James Littell of Augusta, died Thursday, July 10, 1986. Service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at United Methodist Church in Rolla.

Other survivors include his wife, Laura, sons, Allen of Rolla, Ramon of Gainesville, Fla., Dean of Newton and Dan of Naperville, Ill., brother, Art of Wichita, sister, Audrey Ronchetto of California, and 18 grandchildren.

Memorials have been established with American Cancer Society and Hospice of Wichita.

LITTLE, CLYDE E.

Clyde E. Little, 80, of 416 N. Emporia, Wichita, died Sunday, after an illness of two months.

He was born Aug. 17, 1883, near Douglass. Prior to his retirement six years ago he was manager of the Red Ball Garage.

Survivors include his widow Blanche. (El Dorado Times, Dec. 13, 1963)

The body of Clyde Little, 80, who died in Wichita, Dec. 8, was brought to Douglass Wednesday of last week and laid to rest in the Douglass cemetery, with graveside services.

Mr. Little, son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Little, was born August 17, 1883. He was married to Blanche Barton, who survives. They lived on the farm which now is the Lazy B. Ranch of Harvey Blair, south of Clay Center about 1929-30.

He leaves besides his wife, two nephews, Aubrey Snodgrass of Atlanta and Kenneth Little of El Dorado, and nieces, Mrs. H. B. (Dorothea) Herbst of Chattanooga, Tenn., who arrived here just as the funeral was ending, and Elizabeth Wilson of California. A brother, Paul C. Little and a sister, Ollie Snodgrass preceded him in death. (El Dorado Times, Dec. 19, 1963)

LITWIN, ROSE AILEENE

Rose Aileene Litwin, 58, of Potwin, a buyer for Litwin’s Stores, died Friday, May 23, 1986 at Shawnee Mission Medical Center in Overland Park. Services were held Sunday at the Louis Memorial Chapel in Kansas City, Mo. Burial was in the Rose Hill Cemetery in Kansas City, Mo.

Mrs. Litwin worked for the company for 30 years. She was born in Kansas City, Mo., after her marriage to Leon Litwin the couple lived in Parsons before moving to Fort Scott and then to Prairie Village.]

They returned to Parsons after the company purchasing office was moved there last year.

Mrs. Litwin was a member of the Temple B’nai Jehudah of Kansas City, and a member of the congreagation’s sisterhood.

Survivors include her husband, of the home, three daughters, Diane Gail Nathan of Dallas, Bryana Dee Stryker of Houston and Linda Jean Litwin of Springdale, Ark., her parents Mr. and Mrs. I. G. Wolf of Kansas City, Mo., and seven grandchildren. Mrs. Fred Litwin of Fort Scott was a sister-in-law. (El Dorado Times, May 29, 1986)

LIVELY, TIMOTHY NORWOOD

Timothy Norwood Lively, 85, of 1224 N. Lorraine in Wichita, retired owner of Time’s Shine Parlor of El Dorado, died Monday, Nov. 3, 1986. Service will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Carlson’s Funeral Home in El Dorado.

He was born in Greenville, Texas, Aug. 27, 1901, the son of Walter Lively and Maria (Hearns) Lively. He lived in El Dorado until 1964, when he moved to Wichita.

Survivors include sons, James M., Charles R., and Dennis R., all of Wichita, Larry M. of Chugiak, Alaska and Jo Kent of Case Grande, Ariz., daughters, Barbara Jo Botts of Marlboro, Md., Timothy LaVerne Wills and Billie J. Gill, both of Wichita, Gloria J. Robinson of Wasilla, Alaska, Dorothy M. Goodwin of Omaha and Helen P. Woods of Casa Grande, brother, Prince of Wichita, sister, Oneida M. Reed of St. Louis, and 16 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

LONG, JAMES E. “JIM”

Funeral services for James E. “Jim” Long, 74, of Whitewater, were held Saturday from the Lamb Mortuary at Whitewater. Mr. Long died Thursday at a Wichita hospital.

Rev. Ernest Clark officiated. Orin Moore sang “When the Roll is called Up Yonder,” and “Beyond the Sunset.” Mrs. Sam Ravenscraft was the organist.

Serving as casket bearers were Berton Brenner, George Brenner, Ben Smith, Merle Adams, Seth Brenner and Jerry Long.

Interment was in McGill Cemetery at Potwin. (El Dorado Times, Oct. 21, 1963)

LONGPINE, BETTY JEAN (DRUMN)

Betty Jean (Drumn) Longpine, 60, of Enid, Okla., formerly of El Dorado, Betty’s Ceramics owner-operator, died Friday, Oct. 1, 1993. Services are 9;30 a.m. Wednesday at Progressive Baptist Church, Enid and graveside services are 2 p.m. in Oak Hill Cemetery, Chautauqua.

Survivors include: husband, Earl Sr., sons Earl Jr. of Wichita, James of Enid, daughters, Susan Burkholder, Carroll Elliston, both of Wichita, mother, Lucille White, sister, Geraldine Haymaker, both of Guthrie, Okla., 14 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren.
