Final rites for Leo P. Lehr, 62, who died Wednesday were held this morning at St. John’s Church with its pastor, Rev. Fr. Irvin F. Lampe officiating.

The requiem was sung by members of the church choir.

Casket bearers were Joe Tigha, Paul Humig, John Komer, Phil McDounough, W. C. Haxby and N. J. Pardee.

Ushers were Larry Collier and Harry W. Brown.

Interment was in Sunset Lawns cemetery.

A recitation of the Rosary was held Thursday at 7:30 p.m. and at 8 p.m. by the Knights of Columbus. Organist was a grandson of Mr. Lehr Bobby L. Lehr. (El Dorado Times, June 28, 1963)

LEIMER, GLENN K.

Glenn K. Leimer, 72, of Augusta, formerly of El Dorado, died Friday, March 11, 1994. Services were held Monday afternoon at Christ Lutheran church with Rev. W. M. Childress officiating. Burial was in Highland Park Cemetery in Winfield.

He was born March 25, 1921 in Lone Wolf, Okla., to Rev. K. S. L. and Myrtice (Liermann) Leimer. He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII and was a retired teacher. On June 10, 1945 he and Helen Marten were married in Winfield. He was head electrician at Fina refinery and a musical entertainer at area nursing homes.

Survivors include: wife, Helen, sons, Marten of Mulvane, Delvan of Perryton, Texas, Randal of Kansas City, Mo., brothers, Gerold of Oklahoma City; nine grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother. Memorials are to Christ Lutheran church and the Lutheran Hour. (El Dorado Times, March 14, 1994)

LEISURE, WILMA L.

Wilma L. Leisure, 71, of Wichita, retired Boeing, Wichita employee, died Wednesday, June 29, 1994. Services are 10 a.m. Friday at Westside Christian Church, Wichita and at 2:30 p.m. Friday in Manchester (Okla.,) Cemetery.

Survivors include: husband, Bob; daughters, Linda Pfannestiel of Wichita, Donna Hatter of El Dorado, brother Bob Rucker of Wichita, sisters, Theda Blye of Colwich, Norma Fensky of Wichita, Lee Westover of Fall River, six grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren.

LEMEN, SANDRA K.

Sandra K. Lemen, 52, of Bartlesville, Okla., died Tuesday, Nov. 1, 1994 at Jane Phillips Medical Center. Memorial services are 2 p.m. Friday in Memorial Park Cemetery with Rev. James Meimerstorf officiating.

She was born Sept. 17, 1942 to Orville Rose and Naomi Danner in El Dorado where she attended school. On June 15, 1962, she and Ronald E. Lemen were married in Miami, Okla., and they had lived in Bartlesville for the past 15 years. She was a homemaker and worked at Furrs Cafeteria.

Survivors include: husband, Ronald, children, James of Dyess Air Force Base, Texas, Pamela of Bartlesville, Berry of the home; mother Naomi Danner of El Dorado, sisters, Connie Welsh of Anchorage, Alaska, Barbara Haines of Topeka, brothers, Larry Rose, George Rose, both of El Dorado four grandchildren. she was preceded in death by her father and a brother.

LEVERING, FAYE

Faye Levering, 93, homemaker, of Douglass, died Thursday Aug. 18, 1994. Services are 10 a.m. Saturday at the First United Methodist Church in Douglass with Rev. Cindy Watson officiating. Burial is in the Benton Cemetery.

She was born Oct. 14, 1900 in Butler County, the daughter of George Leedom and Belle Kennedy. She was married to Allen levering. He preceded her in death in 1982.

Survivors include son, Hoy of Douglass, three grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren.

LEONARD, MRS. CHARLES A.

Funeral services for Mrs. Charles A. Leonard, 75, who died here Saturday morning will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. in the Dietz-Pitman Colonial Chapel. The Rev. Donald McCracken pastor of the First Baptist Church will officiate.

Mrs. Leonard was born in El Dorado, Dec. 27, 1886 and was married to Charles A. Leonard on Nov. 17, 1908. Prior to her marriage, Mrs. Leonard was employed by the Southwestern Bell Telephone Co., and after her marriage served as a receptionist for the late Dr. L. W. Fowler. She was a member of the First Baptist Church. Her husband died in 1959.

Survivors include one son, Everett of Los Angeles, a sister, Mrs. Maggie Parker, Amarillo, Texas, a niece, Mrs. Raymond Paul, Tucson, Ariz., and one grandchild, Katherine Leonard of Los Angeles.

LIETZKE, DOROTHY M.

Dorothy M. Lietzke, 76, of El Dorado, died Saturday, June 4, 1994 at her home. Services are 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Carlson Funeral Home. Burial will be in Walnut Valley Memorial Park. Rev. Garry Wright, pastor of the First Church of Nazarene, will officiate the services.

She was born Aug. 6, 1917 in Southwest City, Mo., the daughter of Elmer Francis and Ollie Rosetta farthing Dodson. She was a homemaker and had lived in El Dorado since 1936 after moving from a farm near Haverhill. She was a member of the First Church of Nazarene.

On Nov. 24, 1934, she and Harold Wayne Lietzke were married in El Dorado. He died Feb. 2, 1986.

Survivors include: son, Harry of Leon, daughters, Barbara Henman of Leon, Dedra Bishop of McCloud, Okla., Peggy Kasson, both of El Dorado, sister, Goldie Blankenship of Titusville, Fla., nine grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, and brother, Everett.

LIGON, EVA S.

Eva S. Ligon, 85, of El Dorado, died Wednesday, Oct. 5, 1994. A prayer service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at Kirby Morris Funeral Home and services will be held at 2 p.m. in St. John’s Catholic Church. Burial will be held Monday in Jackson, Miss.

She was born July 30, 1909 in Louisville, Miss. The daughter of John t. and Ethel Thompson Suber, and attended schools in Alabama and Mississippi. On June 25, 1934 she and John Barrows Ligon III were married in Raymond, Miss. During WWII she served as Petty Officer in the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary

She lived most of her adult life in Mississippi and Louisiana and moved to El Dorado in 1966. She was a member of St. John’s Catholic Church and a former member of the El Dorado Art Association, Research Club, and St. John’s Altar Society.

Survivors include: son, John “Jack” Ligon IV; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, three brothers, a foster brother and two sisters.

LIGON, JOHN B. “JACK” IV

John B. “Jack” Ligion IV, 59, of El Dorado, died Thursday evening, Oct. 27, 1994, at his home. Services are 10 a.m. Monday at St. John’s Catholic Church. Burial will be in Sunset Lawns Cemetery. A prayer service will be held at 7 p.m. Monday at Kirby Morris Funeral Home. Monsignor Charles Walsh will officiate the services.

He was born July 15, 1935 in Jackson, Miss., the son of John B. and Eva Sue Ligon III. He served in the U.S. Navy and attended L. S. U., Butler County Community College and Wichita State University. He moved to El Dorado in 1961 from Baton Rouge, La. And from 1965 to 1988 worked at Beech Aircraft as senior manufacturing engineer.

On Jan. 26, 1957, he and Marilyn A. Clark were married in Hammond, La. He was a member of St. John’s Catholic Church where he had served as a lector, past president of Wichita Institute of Industrial Engineers, a charter member and past president of Beechmasters Chapter, District Governor for Kansas Toastmasters International; served as an officer and board member of the Beechcraft Supervisor’s Club, former member and officer of Bluestem Kiwanis Chapter, and member of El Dorado Jaycees. He was a volunteer for Junior Achievement in Wichita, story reader for children at Bradford Memorial Library and served as a fund raiser and organizer of the Wichita Youth Soccer Organization.

Survivors include: wife, Marilyn, sons, Joel of Leon, Michael of Lawrence, daughters, Catherine Breaux of Denham Springs, La., Trisha Lake of Pratt, Jeanne Sartz of Greeley, Colo., Aleta Ligon of Pratt, eight grandchildren.

The musicians were Margaret Brazil and Janice Jaworsky who played “Amazing Grace” and “Jesus, Joy of Man’s Desiring.”

The eulogy was given by Mike Jaworsky. Casket bearers were George Janney, Don Cook, Glenn Barrier, Tom Hand, Roger Tener, Fred Carver, Jerry Anderson and Herschel McCoy. Honorary casket bearer was Dr. Ben White. (El Dorado Times, Nov. 4, 1994)

LINDENBAUM, SOL

Sol Lindenbaum, 79 of Atlanta, Ga., formerly of Alexandria, Va., died on Tuesday, Oct. 25, 1994. He is survived by his wife Dorothy Lindenbaum, daughter of Joan Lindenbaum Stern of Needham, Mass., son David S. Lindenbaum of Atlanta, Ga., sister Sylvia Lindenbaum Swid of Delray Beach, Fla., brother Robert Lindenbaum of Atlanta, Ga., and five grandchildren.

He was a graduate of the University of Kansas and the Harvard School of Law. He served his country for 35 years. After active military service in the U.S. Army and 20 years in the U.S. Army Reserve, he retired as a Lt. Colonel.

He served in the U.S. Department of Justice for 30 years. He was a member of the small team who drafted the Civil Rights Legislation in the 1960s. During the last 12 years with the department, he served as Executive Assistant to six of the Attorney General of the United States. After retirement from the Department of Justice, he was a consultant to the U.S. Office of Government Ethics.

The funeral will be held in Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, Va., on Friday, Oct. 28, at 9 a.m.

LOHSE, OTTO ROY

Foremost considerations in the purposeful life of Otto Roy Lohse whose death in a mechanical accident Tuesday, May 29, was recorded last week, were his church, family, home, and his daily work. To these he gave an unswerving devotion that was an inspiration to those who knew him.

Rites were held Friday morning, June 1, in the First Presbyterian Church, the Rev. James F. Clark officiating. Stanley Young and David Clymer were the ushers. Mrs. Charles E. Heilmann was the soloist and Mrs. L. W. Newcomer the organist. The casket bearers were James F. Meyer, William P. Dexter, R. C. Cochran, Ernest E. Jones, Clifford L. Moreland and Will Seiver. Honorary bearers were Fred Huffman, George M. Myers, Charles Isaac, Pat Lemons, Milton Beyer, Gerald McIntosh, William Zahnter, Frank Hutchins, Jack Davis, Dr. G. E. Kassebaum, John Varble, Harry Elrichs and Oral W. Taylor. El Dorado Lodge No. 74, I. O. O. F., conducted graveside services with A. M. Redburn as Acting Noble Grand and C. W. Hauser, chaplain. LOGAN, DAVID EDWARD II

Services for David Edward Logan II, 22, construction worker of El Dorado, were held Monday at Resthaven Mortuary. He died Thursday, Nov. 3, 1994.

Fannie L. Long, 84, of El Dorado, died Friday Dec. 16, 1994 at St. Francis Hospital in Wichita. Graveside services are 2 p.m. Tuesday in the McGill Cemetery in Potwin. Rev. David Shaffer will officiate the services.

She was born July 18, 1910 in Potwin, the daughter of Albert A. and Mary Alice (Thornbrugh) Gates, and was a lifetime resident of Butler County. She was a homemaker and a member of the Temple Baptist Church.

On July 19, 1934, she and Harry Long were married in Yates Center. He died in 1957.

Survivors include sons, Jerry Sr., of Leon, Mack of Sylvan Grove, daughters, Marjorie Sampson, Jessica Wright, Judy Ireland, brother, Clarence Gates, sister, Mildred “Peggy” Patterson, all of El dorado, 12 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by five brothers and one sister.

LONGPINE, EARL LEON SR.

Earl Leon Longpine Sr., 67, died Thursday, Nov. 17, 1994, at his home in Enid, Okla. Services were held Saturday afternoon at Arnold Moore Funeral Residence with Rev. Chester Reick officiating. Burial was in Oak Hill Cemetery in Chautauqua.

He was born Sept. 19, 1927, in Chautauqua, the son of James Franklin and Ethel Marie (Hill) Longpine, and as a child the family moved to Copan, Okla. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII. On Dec. 6, 1950, he and Betty Jean Drumn were married and they lived in Coffeyville. She died Oct. 1, 1993.

He worked for several years at Piper Furniture in Bartlesville and in the oilfield industry in El Dorado and Enid.

Survivors include: sons, Earl Jr. of Wichita, James of Enid, Okla., daughters, Susan Burkholder of Benton, Carroll Elliston of Wichita, brothers, James of Pittsburg, Arnold of Wann, Okla., sisters, Loretta Jones of Bartlesville, Edna Spooner of Richmond, Mo., Ines Ryan of Kansas City, Mo., Alta Track of Enid, Okla., 14 grandchildren, eight great grandchildren. LOVITT, CLAUD E.

Claud E. Lovitt, 81, of Farmington, Mo., formerly of El Dorado, died Friday, July 1, 1994 at Susan B. Allen Hospital. Services are 10 a.m. Wednesday at Memorial Methodist Church in Farmington. Burial will be in Hillview Memorial Cemetery.

He was born Jan. 24, 1913, in Skiatook, Okla., the son of Cas and Clara McCulluch Lovitt and attended grade school and high school in El dorado. He was a Lt. Commander in the Navy Air Force during WWII. He was professional pilot, licensed in 1934 and retired in 1992. He was a member of the Memorial Methodist Church, charter member of A. O. P. A., Missouri Officers Association, Farmington Kiwanis, American legion, Masonic Lodge 132, Odd Fellows Lodge and the Golf Association .

In 1938 he and Grace Cousland were married. She died in April 1982. On June 4, 1988 he and Sarah Alice Burr were married in El Dorado.

Survivors include: wife, Sarah Alice of the home, sons, Allen Lovitt of Edmond, Okla., Robert Lovitt of Burton, Mich., stepson, Rick Burr of Mesa, Ariz., stepdaughter, rosemary Burr Holthaus of Wichita; one granddaughter, one great-granddaughter. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and two sisters.

Longino “Gene” Luna, 70, of Sedgwick, retired Santa Fe Railway employee, died Sunday, Oct. 9, 1994. Rosary is 7 p.m. today and services are 10 a.m. Wednesday both at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, Newton.

LYNCH, ROBIN KAY

Robin Kay Lynch, 34, of Douglass, died Sunday, May 15, 1994 at her home. Services are 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Kirby Morris Funeral Home. Rev. Stan Seymour will officiate the services. Burial will follow at the Elmdale Cemetery in Elmdale.

She was born June 20,1 960 in Eureka, the daughter of Robert and Darlene (Pierce) Stotts. She attended school in Eureka and graduated from the Eureka High school. She is also a graduate of the Bryant Institute in Wichita. On October 19, 1984, she and John A. Lynch were married in Woodward, Okla. They have lived in the Butler County area for the past six or seven years. She worked as an office clerk and receptionist for the Butler County Community College outreach in Augusta. She was a member of the Christian church in Fredonia.

Survivors include: husband, John, daughters, Amanda and Christie Lynch, both of the home; parents, Robert and Darelen Stotts of Eureka, sisters, Teresa Leard and Connie Bragg both of El Dorado, grandmother, Velma Stotts of El Dorado.

LONG, JAMES PERRY

James Perry Long, Butler County pioneer, died May 19, 1924, at his home in Clifford Township, which he homesteaded 53 years ago.

Mr. Long was born in Mercer County, Pa., February 14, 1845. When he was a boy, his parents moved to Illinois. They lived there 15 years and then moved to Kansas.

He was united in marriage November 1, 1877 to Miss Harriet C. Spencer. To this union nine children were born, five of whom survive. Mrs. Long died in 1894. Mr. Long is survived by two sons and three daughters. They are: Lewis L. Long, of Burns; Winifred A. Ashenfelter, of Whitewater; Esther M. Moss, of Sun City; Margaret A. Edwards, of Burns; George P. Long, of Whitewater; two sisters, Mrs. Maggie Yokum, of Stockton, Colo.; Mrs. S. A. Williams, of Joplin, Mo. and one brother, G. R. Long, of Elbing.

Mr. Long united with the Brethern Church 30 years ago and led an exemplary Christian life. It was said of him that if all men lived as he lived, no laws would be necessary. Funeral services were held at the home Wednesday afternoon. They were conducted by the Rev. Mr. Thomas of Peabody, and the Rev. Mr. Higdon, of Potwin. Burial was in Lone Star Cemetery.

LAMAR, JESSE E.

EL DORADO MAN DIES IN RUMANIA

S. E. LaMar Was In Oil Business In Europe

El Dorado, Jan. 20---Jesse E. LaMar who was associated with his brothers, S. E. LaMar of El Dorado in the oil drilling business in Butler county for a number of years, died suddenly at Bai Coi, Rumania, January 5, according to word received here late yesterday.

Burial will be made in Rumania, for the laws of that country prohibit the removal of a body for 7 years.

Mr. LaMar left here three years ago. He went to Texas. Two years ago he went to Rumania. He was associated with the Association Rumanian-American Oil Co. He was a Mason and well known in Kansas oil circles. He is survived by his widow and a small daughter.
