Bethany Faith Mack, infant daughter of Thomas and Valerie Mack, died Friday, July 23, 1994 at St. Joseph Medical Center. Graveside services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in Elmwood Cemetery, Lindsborg, and memorial services will be held at 4 p.m. at the Risen Savior Lutheran Church in Wichita.

Wanda Arlington Maclean, 99, of Sacramento, formerly of Leon, died Friday, Nov. 11, 1994 at Gramercy Court Skilled Nursing Center. Services are 11 a.m. Thursday at the Leon United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Leon Cemetery.
She was born Sept. 30, 1895 in Kremlin, Okla., the daughter of Richard Edward and Adaline Florence Palmer Oldbury, and graduated from Leon High School in 1916. On Sept. 15, 1917, she and Murray J. Maclean were married in El Dorado. He died Oct. 28, 1973. She lived most of her life in the Leon area. She was a homemaker and a member of the Leon United Methodist Church, Eastern Star and DAR.
Survivors include: daughters, JoAnn Turrentine of Dallas, Texas., Donna Klump of Sacramento, Calif., sister, Mary Brown of Hays, three granddaughters, five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and an infant son.

Fannie B. Maddux, 89, of El Dorado, died Sunday, Nov. 20, 1994 at Knutson Manor Care Center. Services are 11 a.m. Tuesday at Carlson Funeral Home. Burial will be in Sunset Lawns Cemetery.
She was born June 4, 1905 in Dallas County, Mo., the daughter of John Harry and Minerva McClurg Wilson. On may 16, 1926 she and Ralph H. Maddux were married in Windyville, Mo. and they moved to El Dorado in 1928. He died November 11, 1994. She was a member of the Willing Workers Sunday School Class and taught Sunday School for many years.
Survivors include: sons, Bob, John both of El Dorado, Terry of Ellsworth; daughter, Dona Cooper of Stillwater, Okla., brothers, Bert Wilson of Monet, Mo., Otto Doc Wilson of El Dorado, 10 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

Katherina Abplanalp Maddux, 86 of Newton died Tuesday, July 12, 1994. Services are 10 a.m. Thursday at Petersen Funeral Home in Newton with Rev. David Keazirian officiating. Burial will be in San Marcos (Calif.) Cemetery.
She was born Feb. 15, 1908 in Butler County, the daughter of Herman Walter Abplanalp and Nettie Mary (Lynch). On Dec. 26, 1961, she and Lucius Lou Maddux were married in Arcadia, Calif. He died in 1970.
She was a dental assistant for 30 years and attended the Presbyterian Church. Her memberships included Eastern Star and Beta Sigma Phi. She moved to Newton from Santa Fe, N.M. in 1992.
Survivors include: several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by nine brothers and one sister.

Ralph H. Maddux, 90 of El Dorado, died Tuesday, Nov. 1, 1994 at Susan B. Allen Hospital. Services are 2 p.m. Friday at Carlson Funeral Home. Burial will be in Sunset Lawns Cemetery.
He was born April 21, 1904 in Dallas Co., Mo., the son of Robert and Mary Sue Alford Maddux and moved to El Dorado in 1928. He worked for Skelly and Texaco Refinery until retiring as an operator and foreman in 1968.
On May 16, 1926, he and Fannie B. Wilson were married in Windyville, Mo. He was a member of the Church of the Nazarene.
Survivors include: wife, Fannie, sons, Robert, John, both of El Dorado, Terry of Ellsworth, daughter, Dona Faye Cooper, of Stillwater, Okla., sisters, Geraldine True, Jewell Hurst, both of Buffalo, Mo., 10 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and one grandchild.

Donnie G. Mahan, 68, of Wichita, retired TWECO Prodcuts Inc. employee, died Friday, May 6, 1994. Services are 10:30 a.m. Monday at Resthaven Mortuary.

Edmund B. Ed Maher, 94, of Augusta, died Saturday, Jan. 8, 1994 at Burlington. Services are 10 a.m. Thursday at Dunsford Funeral Home. Burial will be in Cumberland cemetery.
He was born April 25, 1899 in Green County, PA. On March 17, 1942, he and Zelora Fern were married in Wichita. She died May 30, 1984.
He was U.S. Army Veteran of WWI and a farmer.

Cressia O. Tiny Malan, 84, of Columbus, Ohio, died Monday, April 25, 1994 at Riverside Methodist Hospital. Services will be 1 p.m. Monday at Carlson Funeral Home. Burial will be in Walnut Valley Memorial park. Visitation will be Monday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
She was born Feb. 15, 1910 in DeGaff, the daughter of Charles E. and Mabel Randall Bailey. She owned and operated Johnsons Café and the ElJay Motel in El Dorado and had lived in Columbus for several years.
Survivors include: daughter, Charlene Grabner of Columbus, eight grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
She was married to Charles H. Johnson and later to Raymond Malan who both preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her parents, a daughter, Sally Anderson, four brothers and two sisters. Memorials are to the American cancer Society. (El Dorado Times, April 28, 1994)
Dorothy M. Marley, 73, of 615 North Atchison, died Thursday morning at the Susan B. Allen Memorial Hospital.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at the First Christian Church with burial in Sunset Lawns Cemetery.
Mrs. Marley was born Oct. 12, 1906, at Virgil, the daughter of Perry O. and Clara A. Kuller. She moved with her family to the El Dorado area from Madison. She was married to Frank M. Marley, October 15, 1926, in the Christian Church parsonage in El Dorado. She was a member of the First Christian Church, the Friendship Sunday School Class and the church circle.
Survivors include her husband of the home, a son, Phillip D. of Albany, Ga., a daughter, Mrs. Shirley D. Hickman of Newark, Ohio, two sisters, Maude T. Owens of Houston and Mrs. Mary T. West of El Dorado; five brothers, Ben, Glenn and Herman, all of El Dorado, Robert E. of Danbury, Conn., and Perry O. of Ponca City, Okla., six grandchildren and two great-granddaughters.
She was preceded in death by a brother.

He was born Oct. 15, 1903, on a farm east of El Dorado, the son of John and Mary (Jones) Marley. He attended schools in Towanda and El Dorado, graduating from El Dorado High School. He had lived in this area all his life.
On Oct. 15, 1926, he and Dorothy Tarrant were married in El Dorado. She died Oct. 18, 1879. He was a retired operator for Skelly Refinery and a member of the First Christian Church and O. C. A. W. International Union 5-241.
Survivors include: son, Phillip of Albany, Ga., daughter, Shirley Hickman of Newark, Ohio, six grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by four brothers and four sisters.

Services for Virgil L. Marley, 73, of 426 North Star, who died Saturday morning at the Ivy Manor Nursing Home at Wichita, will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Dietz Carlson Funeral Home with burial in Sunset Lawns cemetery.
Mr. Marley was born Dec. 30, 1905 at El Dorado, the son of David and Cuma Kemp Marley. He was a heavy equipment operator and retired in 1968. He spent his entire life in El Dorado and was a member of the First Christian Church, the Benevolent and Protective Order of the Elks Lodge No. 1407 and the Operating Engineers Union Local No. 965A. On June 11, 1923, he married Elsie Hiedeman at El Dorado.
Survivors include his wife of the home; a son, Don of Houston, Texas., a daughter, Janet Read of Wichita, a sister, Elizabeth Parsons of Wichita, seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and five sisters. (El Dorado Times, 1979)

Roland Fredrick Bill Marten, 75, of Andover, died Saturday, Nov. 5, 1994, at Wesley Medical Center. Services are 10 a.m. Wednesday at Dunsford Funeral Home, Augusta. Burial will be in Towanda Cemetery.
He was born Sept. 1, 1919 in Towanda, the son of Fred H. Marten and Ethel Addie Rollings. He was a retired auto mechanic.

He was born June 30, 1915 in Miltonvale, the son of John Wilbur and Florence Jane Crist Martin and moved to El Dorado in 1929. He served in the U. S. Army during WWII. On Nov. 6, 1958 he and Betty Cowley Hammon were married in El Dorado.
He was a retired union iron worker and a member of the Miltonvale Methodist Church, Iron Workers Union No. 606, V. F. W., American Legion, Amvets, and the Moose Lodge where he was a past governor.
Survivors include: wife, Betty, sons, Gary Martin of Milford, Pa., Richard Hammon of Salina, Robert Hammon of Alameda, Calif., daughters, Dr. Sharon Martin of Lexington, Ky., Brenda Cooper of El Dorado, brother, Marshall Martin of El Dorado, sisters, Lola Chrisman of Petaluma, Calif., Carole Miles of Derby, four grandchildren.

Lillian B. Martin, 83, of St. Paul, Minn., died Sunday, Jan. 9, 1994. Private services.
She lived in El Dorado until 1960 and then moved to St. Paul. She was the mother of Ruthann Benforado of Woodbury, Minn., and Earl Dean Martin of Colfax, Calif. She had three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Lucille McCreight, 65, of 115 South Orchard, died Sunday evening at Susan B. Allen Memorial Hospital.
Services will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Dietz-Carlson Colonial Chapel with burial in Sunset Lawns Cemetery.
She was born Sept. 2, 1914, southwest of El Dorado, the daughter of Charles G. and Ellen B. DeWar Baker. She married Stewart McCreight March 7, 1936, in El Dorado. Mrs. McCreight with her husband owned and operated Stewarts Market from 1940 until 1976 when they retired. She spent most of her life in El Dorado except for nine years in Burns. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, a member and past Worthy Matron of Andrina Chapter, Order of Eastern Star, the Social Order of Beauceants and Rebekah Circle of the church.
Survivors include her husband of the home; a son, Larry of El Dorado, two brothers, Joe H. Baker, Apache Junction, Ariz., and Clyde Baker of Route 1, three sisters, Mrs. Margaret Faires, Mrs. Mary Ellen Smith and Mrs. Ruth Snyder all of El Dorado a granddaughter Heather McCreight of El Dorado and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother.

Word has been received of the death Sunday of Mrs. Earl (Geraldine) McPherson, former resident of El Dorado in California.
Services will be held Wednesday at Oceanside Cemetery in California.

Mrs. Leona Ida (Edward) Meyer, 69, of 822 Oak, died Tuesday morning at Susan B. Allen Memorial Hospital.

Mrs. Mary Katherine Kate Miller, 92, of Wichita, formerly of El Dorado, died Thursday morning at St. Francis Hospital at Wichita.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at the Dietz-Carlson Colonial Chapel with burial in Sunset Lawns cemetery.
Mrs. Miller was born Feb. 22, 1887 at Stewartsville, Mo., the daughter of William Harrison and Elizabeth Pugh Hicks.
She married Owen Cleveland Miller June 24, 1909, at St. Joseph, Mo., and he died Feb. 19, 1948.
She moved to El Dorado in 1919 and made her home here until 1950 when she moved to Wichita. She was a member of the Epworth Methodist Church of Wichita, the Missouri Club and the Encee Echo Club.
Survivors include a sister, Miss Ruth Hicks of St. Joseph, Mo.; a grandson, Gary Brown of Wichita and two great-granddaughters.

Monsignor John M. Moeder, 75, McPherson, a retired priest who served in Augusta, died Saturday.
Services were this morning at St. Joseph Catholic Church in McPherson. There will also be a service at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Colwich.
Monsignor Moeder also served as priest of Liebenthal, Plains, Liberal, Red Bud, Derby, McPherson and Colwich Catholic churches.
Survivors include a brother, Eugene Moeder, Goodland and James White of the home, who was raised by the Monsignor.
A memorial has been established with St. Joseph Catholic School in McPherson.

Mrs. Lena W. (Maynard) Morgan, 67, of Iola died Friday at an Iola hospital.
Services will be held at the First Baptist Church in Iola at 2 p.m. Monday with burial in the Iola Cemetery.
Mrs. Morgan was born April 26, 1912 at Woodruff, Kan.
Survivors are her husband of the home; her mother, Mrs. Elmer Day of El Dorado; a daughter, Mrs. Beverly Hawk of Iola, three sisters, Mrs. L. E. McKown and Mrs. Harlan Needham, both of El Dorado, and Mrs. Paul Wilson of McPherson; a brother, Clayton Day of El Dorado; three granddaughters, Laurie and Susan Hawk and Mrs. Ronnie Small and a great grandson, Mike Small all of Iola.

Charles John Mowry, 86, of Topeka, a former resident of El Dorado, died Wednesday evening at St. Francis Hospital at Topeka.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the Brennan Chapel in Topeka with burial in Sunset Lawns Cemetery at El Dorado.
Mr. Mowry was born Sept. 27, 1892 at Carnegie, Pa. He was an employee of the Skelly Refinery until his retirement in 1953. He moved from El Dorado to Dallas, Texas, to be with a daughter and they moved to Topeka in 1957. He was a veteran of World War II, a member of the First Presbyterian Church of El Dorado and a member of the Capt. Edgar Dale Post No. 81 of The American Legion. He married Bernice Summer and she died in 1925.
Survivors are two daughters, Mrs. William Reed of Topeka and Mrs. John R. King of Houston, Texas; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
The family has suggested contributions to the American Heart Association. (El Dorado Times, July 5, 1979)
Ira Bus Mumm, 67, of Lone Star, Texas, a resident of El Dorado from 1948 until 1954, died Oct. 29 in a Lone Star hospital after a lengthy illness.
While living here Mr. Mumm was a sales engineer for Dowell inc. He was a member of the First United Presbyterian Church, where he was an elder, as well as being a Mason and a member of the Elks Lodge at El Dorado.
Services were held at Nail-Haggard Funeral Home at Daingerfield, Texas, with the Rev. Any Andrews of Houston and the Rev. Bob Ross of Lone Star, Methodist ministers, officiating. Burial was at Point, Texas.
Mr. Mumm was born Jan. 8, 1912 at North Platte, Neb. he attended high school at Plattsmouth, Neb., and Doane college at Crete, Neb. During World War II he was a Navy officer in the Pacific, being discharged with the rank of lieutenant.
He retired in 1971 from Dowell Inc., and had lived in Lone Star until his death. While with Dowell he also was stationed at Hobbs, N.M., Worland, Wy., Vernal, Utah and at Seminole and Oklahoma City, Okla.
Survivors include his wife, Irene of the home, his mother, Mary Mumm, of Plattsmouth, neb., and a nephew, Bob Bruce of Abilene, Texas. (El Dorado times, November 7, 1979)
