F. E. McMillan
Douglass lost a staunch and worthy citizen of long standing and true worth last Saturday, when F. E. McMillan passed on and left us.
He came from Ohio with his bride in a covered wagon, arriving here in 1879. He soon started work and business for himself at his trade, blacksmith, and establishing a home which he occupied the remainder of his life.
He was staunch, dependable and industrious citizen, holding the confidence and respect of all who knew him - was indeed a model citizen in all respects. He served the city as Mayor and was in every way a most worthy example of highest citizenship.
It was such as he who have made Douglass and the country at large the land of which we are proud.(Douglass Tribune, Douglass, Kansas ~ Friday, June 12, 1942 ~ Transcribed by Judy Mayfield)
