NEUKIRCH, EDDIE

Eddie Neukirch, of Salina, died at his home, Tuesday, June 21, 1994. Services are 11 a.m. Thursday at Faith Assembly of God Church and at 3 p.m. in Cassoday Cemetery. Rev. Richard Kloos will officiate.

He was born June 28, 1932, in Hickory and moved to Salina in 1990 from Norway, Kan. He was a security guard for Midwest Security Systems and a member of the VFW, DAV Chapter 11 and American Legion 193.

Survivors include: wife, Peggy, son, Fred of Salina, daughters, Carolyn Guise of Salina, Becki Carlson of Scandia, stepson, Eddie Boyer, Jr. of Glasco, stepdaughters, Janet Anderson of Concordia, Jane Studt of Glasco, Pennie Kloos of Salina, brother, Calvin of Onega, sisters, Edna McClain of Onega, Lou Ella Dahlquist of Garfield; 10 grandchildren.

NEWCOM, FRANK D.

Frank D. Newcom, 76, of Los Alamos, N.M., former El dorado resident, died at his home, March 22, 1994. Services were held at Berardinelli Mortuary in Santa Fe with Rev. Jim Hawk officiating. Burial was in Guaje Pines Cemetery in Los Alamos.

He was born June 19, 1917, the son of Frank E. and Grace B. Newcom. He was a graduate of Amundson High School in Chicago, Ill., and attended El Dorado Junior College. He worked for Welte Cleaners in El Dorado, Boeing Aircraft in Wichita, Argonne National Laboratory in Chicago and as a design draftsman for Los Alamos Nation Laboratory, retiring in 1979. He had lived in Los Alamos since WWII and he was a member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks Lodge No. 2983.

Survivors include: wife, Juanita, sons, John of Afton, Wyo., David of Salt Lake City, sister, Betty Saul of Salt Lake City, four grandchildren.

NEYER, LUCILLE JOSEPHINE

Lucille Josephine Neyer, 71, of Emporia, died Wednesday, May 11, 1994, at her home. Rosary will be 7 p.m. Thursday at Carlson Funeral home in Emporia. Services are 10:30 a.m. Friday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Rev. Peter O'Sullivan and Rev. Richard Neyer officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery in Olpe.

She was born June 12, 1922, in rural Olpe to Bernard Nuessen and Clara Miller, and graduated from Olpe High school. On April 30, 1945, she and Leon Jerome neyer were married in Olpe. He died Jan. 27, 1970.

She had worked at Newman Memorial County Hospital and retired as office manager for Dr. D. P. Trimble. She recently had been a homesitter for the elderly. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and the Altar Society.

Survivors include: sons, Ronald of Leon, Bernard of Chanute, brother, Raymond Nuessen of Emporia, three grandchildren. Memorials are to Sacred Heart Catholic Church. (El Dorado Times, May 12, 1994)

NIXON, ADA R.

Ada R. Nixon, 79, of El Dorado, died Friday, Jan. 14, 1994, at Susan B. Allen Hospital. Services were held at 2 p.m. Monday at Carlson Funeral Home. Burial was in Towanda Cemetery.

She was born July 5, 1914, in Faye, Okla., the daughter of John and Alice Mae Stanley Trim. She married Guy Albert Nixon on July 27, 1932, in Alva, Okla. He died in 1986. She was a homemaker and had worked as a nurse's aide in nursing homes for several years. She moved from Kingman to El Dorado in June, 1993, and had also lived in Odessa, Texas. She attended the Nazarene Church in Kingman.

Survivors include: son, Gerald of Kingman, daughters, Nova Mikel of El Dorado, Burnedine Moore of Sterling, brothers, Melvin Trim of Erie, Carl Trim of Thayer, sister, Evelyn Carney of Chetopa; 10 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, one sister and a grandson.

NIXON, GERALD DEAN

Gerald Dean Nixon, 47, of Kingman, died Friday afternoon, Feb. 18, 1994, at Wesley Medical Center. Services will be announced later by Carlson Funeral Home. (El Dorado Times, Feb. 19, 1994)

He was born July 31, 1946, in Woodward, Okla., the son of Guy Albert and Ada R. Trim Nixon. He was self employed carpenter and had lived in Kingman for 10 years after moving from Odessa, Texas. He had served in the U.S. Army.

Survivors include: sons, Toryn of Kingman, Kevin of Leakey, Texas, sisters, Nova Mikel of El Dorado, Burnedine Moore of Sterling.

NOFFSINGER, RUTH HATFIELD

Ruth Janice Hatfield Noffsinger, 86, of El Dorado, died Monday, Nov. 7, 1994 at Knutson Manor Nursing Center. Services are 10:30 a.m. Friday at the First Christian church. Burial will be at 2 p.m. in Belle Plaine Cemetery.

She was born July 8, 1908 in Wichita, the daughter of Ivan and Clora Loer Hatfield. She retired as an elementary school teacher after teaching for 30 years including kindergarten at Lincoln and special education at Washington school. She moved to El Dorado from Wichita in 1952 and was a member of the First Christian Church and the church circles, Eastern Star, and was past director of the Beta-Pi chapter Beta-Sigma Phi.

On May 24, 1935, she and Elwin L. "Red" Noffsinger were married in Anthony.

Survivors include: husband, E. L. "Red", daughters, Marilyn Murphy of El Dorado, Sarah Barney of Dallas, nine grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and one sister.

NORMAN, VIRGIE LORENA

Virgie Lorena (Mock) Norman, 83, of Eureka, died Saturday, June 18, 1994, at the Greenwood County Hospital. Services were held Monday afternoon at Campbell-Kelley Funeral Home with Pastor Don Stice officiating. Burial was in the Greenwood Cemetery.

She was born Dec. 28, 1910, near Neal, the daughter of Robert W. and Elizabeth May (Griffith) Mock, and grew up in the Eureka Community. She graduated in 1931 from Eureka High school.

On Feb. 20, 1936, she and V. Hayden "Buck" Norman were married southwest of Eureka. He died Oct. 28, 1986. She was a member of the First Church of the God.

Survivors include: sister, Mildred Smith of Eureka, grandchildren, Delinda Brecheisen of Rosalia, Monica Farrar of El Dorado, Rodney Robert of Beaumont, four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, daughter, Barbara on March 24, 1983, brother Vernon Mock and twin sister, Viola Lena who died in infancy. (El Dorado Times, June 20, 1994)

NORMAN, WINNIE MAE

Winnie Mae Norman, 97, of Latham, died Tuesday, May 10, 1994 at Susan B. Allen Memorial Hospital. Services are 3 p.m. Friday at Latham United Methodist Church. Pastors Bill Bullard and Patricia Bennett will officiate the services. Burial will be in the Latham Cemetery.

She was born Dec. 19, 1896, in Piedmont, the daughter of Sherman Eugene and Juny Alberta (Guffy) Powers and lived in this area most of her life. She cooked at the Latham Café for 20 years and at the Beaumont Hotel for 16 years, retiring in 1979. Pies were her specialty. She was a member of the Latham United Methodist Church.

Survivors include: son, Charles of Paola; daughter, Helen Huff of Latham, four grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters, five brothers, and one grandchild.

NETHERCOTT, RUTH LILLIAN

Ruth Lillian Nethercott, 86, of El Dorado, died Wednesday, July 5, 2000, at Wheat State Manor Nursing Home in Whitewater. Memorial services are 9 a.m. Saturday, July 8, at St. John's Catholic Church. Recitation of the Rosary will be held at St. John's Catholic Church at 7 p.m. Friday, June 7. Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, July 10, at St. Joseph Cemetery in Onekama, Mich.

She was born Nov. 2, 1913, in Detroit, Mich., the daughter of Chat Alan and Ruth Seeley (Smith) Picken. She was a Special Education teacher. She received her Masters and Specialist Degree from Wayne State University. She was a member of St. John's Catholic Church, the Altar Society, Detroit Federation of Teachers, Association of College Women, Mensa and the Order of the Secular Fanciscans.

Survivors include: sons, Anthony Richard Nethercott of Hamilton, Mich., Allen Nethercott of Newberry Springs, Calif., James Joseph Nethercott of Milliken, Colo., and Joseph B. Nethercott of Charleston, S.C.; daughters, Sister Margaret Nethercott of Manitowoe, Wis., Frances Koziki of El Dorado and Judith Lucy Schantz of Crossville, Tenn.; one half-brother, Robert Picken; 32 grandchildren and 60 great-grandchildren.

NISLEY, VESTA

Vesta Nisley, 61, formerly of El Dorado, died Tuesday, July 4, 2000.

Survivors include: daughter, Meaji Lockmiller; brother, Melvin Richey; sister, Renetta Stribling; grandchildren, Victoria Grace Lockmiller and Roman Lockmiller.

NOELLER, BETTY JO (STONEHOCKER)

Betty Jo (Stonehocker) Noeller, 82, Augusta, homemaker, passed away on Wednesday, May 2, 2007.

Visitation from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday; funeral service at 2 p.m. on Friday, both at Dunsford-Zeiner Funeral Home, Augusta.

She was born on Sept. 5, 1924 in Wellington. She married Arthur Noeller in El Dorado, Nov. 6, 1944. He precedes her.

Her survivors: daughters, Judith Noeller, Topeka, Janene (Kelly) Kopfer, Derby; four grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, John Noeller, Bennington; sister-in-law, Mary Stonehocker, Calif.

Preceded in death by parents: Earl and Olive (Bracken) Stonehocker; son: Wayne Noeller; brother: Earl Stonehocker.

Memorial donations may be made to American Heart Association and Susan B. Allen Cancer Center, in care of the funeral home.

NOLLER, JOHN H.

John H. Noller, 80, of Dodge City, died Dec. 29, 1999 at Western Plains Regional Medical Complex in Dodge City.Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Dec. 31, at Burkhart Funeral Chapel in Dodge City with the Rev. Lee Schroerlucke officiating. Interment will be in Maple Grove Cemetery with military graveside rites provided by VFW Post 1714. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. today, Thursday, Dec. 30, at the funeral home.

He was born Jan. 27, 1919 at El Dorado, to Charles and Winnie (Moss) Noller. A Dodge City resident since 1932, moving from El Dorado, he worked for Fairmont Foods and the Red Dot Potato Chip Factory, both of Dodge City.

H was a member of the First Christian Church of El Dorado. He served his country in the United States Army from 1942 to 1945, was a member of the American Legion, Masonic Lodge, and a life member of the VFW, all of Dodge City.

He is survived by two sisters, Muriel Oursler of El Dorado and Elizabeth Allison of Greensburg; and several nephews and nieces.

He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Walter, Leonard and Fred.

The family suggests memorials to the World War II Memorial in care of Burkhart Funeral Chapel, 1901 N. 14th Ave., Dodge City, Kansas 67801. (El Dorado Times, November 30, 1999)
