Clinton O. Barrier, 74, of Eureka, retired interior decorator, died Wednesday, Jan. 7, 1987 at St. Francis Regional Medical Center in Wichita. He was the father of Carl Barrier, Glenn Barrier and Sharon Woods all of El Dorado.
Service is 2 p.m. Saturday, Campbell Funeral Home, Eureka, with the Rev. Gilbert Daniel of the Christian Congregational Church, officiating.
Mr. Barrier was born May 6, 1912 in Wichita. His parents were Earl Barrier and Ernestine (Briggs) Barrier. He married Catherine Simmons on Oct. 16, 1931.
Survivors include his wife, Catherine, sons, Carl Barrier and Glenn Barrier, both of El Dorado, two daughters, Evelyn Walford of Emporia and Sharon Woods of El Dorado, sister, Norma Jean Montgomery of Yuba City, Calif., nine grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren.
Mr. Barrier was a life member of VFW Post 2712 and the Congregational Church, Eureka.

James W. Beardmore, 81, of Wichita, died Friday Nov. 11, 1994. Services are 1 p.m. Thursday in Sunset Lawns Cemetery.
He was born Nov. 19, 1913 in Wheeler Camp, Okla., the son of James Monroe and Bessie (Leich) Beardmore. H had lived in the El Dorado area, but for the last 10 years had lived in Wichita. He served in the Army Aircorps during WWII. He was a self-employed carpenter and a sheet metal worker for Cessna and Boeing. He was a member of VFW Post 1174 and American Legion Post 81.
Survivors include sons, Jack, Terry, both of Wichita, six grandchildren, six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents.

She was born July 18, 1908, in Herington, the daughter of Theodore and Amelia (Nehring) Biehler, and lived in El Dorado for 50 years. On Aug. 3, 1940, she and Walter Harold Bigelow were married. He died July 26, 1971. She was a member of the United Methodist Church.
Survivors include: son, Ron of El Dorado; daughters, Wanda Reagen of Russell, Janice Adams of Wichita, Connie Weber of Leawood; seven grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a sister.

Lawrence L. Brown, 86, Valley Center, died June 19 at Allen Memorial Hospital following a short illness. Services for the former El Doradoan were held Monday at the Valley Center First United Methodist Church. Dr. Clarence Borger, pastor conducted the service. Interment was in the Towanda Cemetery.
Mrs. Jessie Houk played the organ accompaniment as Mrs. Annette Brownlee sang "How Great Thou Art" and "Sweet By and By."
Casket bearers were Willard Olson, Douglas Olson, Willis Olson, Richard E. Brown, David A. Brown and Max Allison.
A retired Cities Service Oil company field worker, Mr. Brown was born March 12, 1890 in Dexter, Ia., the son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Emerson Brown (Flora Maulsby). He married Adla Ulrika Olson on February 2, 1916 at Savongburg. She survives.
Mr. Brown moved to Towanda in 1930 and lived in El Dorado in 1957 and 1958.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by three sons, Milfred L., St. Albans, W. Va., and Earl C., Wichita and Darrell E., Littleton, Colo., a daughter, Mrs. Marie Allison, lake Charles, La.; two sisters, Mrs. Nellie Barnett, Altoona, and Mrs. Ruth M. Buckner, Sacramento, Calif.; nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Charley C. and Ellsworth E.

Mrs. Myrtle Bruce, 94, a former resident of El Dorado, died Wednesday morning at a nursing home at Emporia.
Mrs. Bruce was the mother of the Rev. Seymour Bruce, formerly of El Dorado an now pastor of the Baptist Church at Lebo.
Services were held at Lebo Friday morning and burial will be in Sheffield, Iowa. (El Dorado Times, July 17, 1976)
Virginia Edith Carpenter, 81, Augusta, died on Tuesday, May 30, 2006, at St. Francis Regional Medical Center in Wichita following a series of illnesses over the past few months.
Funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Monday, June 5, at the Augusta First Christian Church, with Rev. Doug Amend officiating. The committal will be at the Andover Cemetery.
Visitation with family present will be from 2 to 4 p.m. on Sunday, June 4, at the Dunsford-Zeiner Funeral Home in Augusta.
Virginia was born on Jan. 5, 1925 at Stockton, the daughter of James and Vida (Turner) Hammond. She was raised at Stockton and graduated from Stockton High School.
She had been a resident of Augusta since the early 1950's. She was retired co-owner of Carpenter Paint and Glass, which she and her husband operated for many years. Virginia was also a member of the First Christian Church in Augusta.
Her survivors include: sisters, Maxine Jackson of Augusta and Florence King of Kansas City, Mo.; brothers, Everett and Kenneth Hammond, both of Wichita, Harold Hammond of Salt Lake City, Utah, and Warren Hammond of Rio Grande City, Texas; a nephew, Ric Newell and his wife, Yevette of Ft. Worth, Texas, and their children, Joel and Stephanie; seven other nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Irvin, in 2002.
The family has requested a memorial to the First Christian Church in lieu of flowers.

Services for William L. Daniels, age 59, of El Dorado were held Wednesday afternoon at Prospect Baptist Church. Burial followed at Sunset Lawns Cemetery. Mr. Daniels died Sunday, Sept. 24, 1989.
The Rev. Rick Harms, pastor of Prospect Baptist Church officiated at the services. Mrs. Marietta Brown, at the organ played the prelude and postlude. Mrs. Evelyn Hughes sang "How Great Thou Art" and "Old Rugged Cross."

San Diego, Calif. - John J. Datin, a former El Dorado resident, died Thursday, Nov. 23, 1989. He retired from General Dynamics and had been in ill health for several years.
He was born in El Dorado in 1929, the son of Harold and Eleanor Datin. He attended El Dorado schools.
Survivors include wife, Lucinda, sons Dennis of Canyon County, Calif., Mike of Las Vega, and daughter Nancy of Quartz Hill, Calif., and one grandchild, brother Tom Datin of Cincinnati, Ohio and sisters, Madonna Allen of Cincinnati, Ohio and Mary Kliewer of El Dorado. He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister and a son.

Celia Ann (Gilmore) Davidson, age 43, of Littleton, Colo., and formerly of El Dorado, died July 21, 1989, at the hospice at St. John in Lakewood, Colo., after a long illness. Cremation preceded memorial services at Horand and McConaty Blvd. Mortuary, Denver, Colo.
Mrs.Davidson was born May 17, 1947 at Manhattan, daughter of Jack and Gwendolyn Gilmore. She was a 1965 graduate of El Dorado High School and received a B.A. in business administration from the University of Kansas in 1969. She worked for many years as a computer analyst. She was presently employed as manager of data process with the United Way in their national offices in Denver.
She married William Davidson in 1977. Survivors include husband Bill; son John and daughter, Meghan both of the home; father and stepmother, Jack and daughter Meghan both of the home; father and stepmother Jack and Dorothy Gilmore of El Dorado. She was preceded in death by her mother, Gwendolyn.

Doyle A. "Andy" Davis, age 38 of Crescent, Okla., died Monday, June 12, 1989 at his mother's home, northeast of Crescent. He was born Aug. 26, 1950 at El Dorado, the son of Doyle Andrew and Goldie (Lister) Davis. They moved to Oklahoma in 1957. Mr. Davis was a farm worker and former oil field worker.
Survivors include his mother, Goldie Davis of Crescent, grandmother, Wilda Davis of Lon; brother, Lewis Davis of Crescent, sister Kathy Black of Oklahoma City, Okla., and three nieces. He was preceded in death by his father Doyle Andrew, grandfathers, Fred Davis, J. E. Lister, and grandmother, Mary Moran.

Harvey L. "Buck" DaMetz of Towanda, died on Friday, June 16, 2006.
The Celebration of his life will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 20, at the Trinity United Methodist Church in El Dorado. Burial will follow the services in the Towanda Cemetery.
Buck was born March 8, 1930 in Bern, the son of Hollis and Emma DaMetz. He spent most of his childhood in Rosalia before his family moved to Eureka during his high school years. He enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1948 and served his country in Japan as a diesel mechanic. He spent most of his enlistment in Japan and he spoke very fondly of the Japanese people he came to know. After his service he returned to work at the family construction business with his father. With Caterpillar yellow blood in his veins he spent the rest of his working life operating heavy equipment. He settled with his family in Towanda and he ended his career with the L.A. Knebler Construction Co. of Augusta.
Buck spent retirement years enjoying his grandchildren, camping and fishing.
Surviving family include: his loving wife of 44 years, Gayle Pyle DaMetz of the home; two sons, David and his wife Gina of Benton and Jeff and his wife Kristi of Inman; brother, Max DaMetz of Topeka; sister, Doris Olson, Eureka; seven grandchildren, Justin, Kaci, Nicholas, Sarah, Noah, Emma, and Max.

Services for Jeffrey Scott Doughty, 16, of Lakewood, Colo., who died Sunday at Wesley Medical Center at Wichita, will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Kirby-Morris Funeral Home and graveside services will be held at the Crown Hill Cemetery at Denver, Colo., at 1 p.m. Friday.
Jeffrey was born Sept. 7, 1962, at Oklahoma City, Okla., the son of Thomas C. and Barbara Collins Doughty. He had lived in Lakewood for the past eight years. He was a student at Bear Creek High School and was active in both the basketball and golf programs. He was a member of the Phillips United Methodist church and Boy Scout Troop 814 in which he achieved the rank of Eagle Scout. He was also a member of the National Honor Society.
Survivors include his parents of the home; a brother, Tom A., of the home, two sisters, Mrs. Roger (Cathy) Bryant of Long Grove, Ill., and Karin doughty of the home and his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Tom M. Doughty of El Dorado and Mr. and Mrs. H. J. Collins of Ada, Okla.

Funeral services will be held at the First Baptist Church at 3 o'clock Saturday afternoon for Mabel M. Fowler, 77, who died at St. Francis hospital at Wichita Wednesday. The Rev. Vernon White will conduct the services. Interment will be in the Old Mission Mausoleum at Wichita.
Mabel M. Fowler was born Dec. 10, 1896 at Buffalo, Mo., the daughter of Frank R. and Eliza B. (Millls) Plummer. She was married to Frank E. Dennis at Coats on Dec. 5, 1922. He preceded her in death in 1941. She married O. R. Fowler at Kansas City on Sept. 10, 1966 and he preceded her in death in 1971.
Prior to moving to Augusta she lived at Wichita from 1916 to 1942 and at Mission from 1942 to 1967. She was the retired owner of the Dennis Realty Co., at Mission, a member of the Second Presbyterian church at Kansas City, active in cultural affairs, a member of the Women's Division of the Kansas City Philharmonic and the Wichita Art Association.
Survivors include a son, Frank E. Dennis, Jr., of Mission and a sister, Mrs. Blanche V. Lyman of Coats.

Ralph Donavon "Don" Garland, 54, of 1673 Lawndale, died Wednesday, Sept. 17, 1986. Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Carlsons Colonial Chapel. Burial will follow in Sunset Lawns Cemetery.
He ws born Aug. 28, 1932 at El Dorado, the son of Allen and Florence Neely Garland. He spent his entire life in El Dorado. He worked at Pester Refinery as a truck driver for several years, and was presently custodian at the Butler County Courthouse. He served in the Army during the Korean conflict.
He married Germein Knox in 1965 in New Orleans. He was a member of the C. M. E. church.
Survivors include two sons, Troy and Don; a daughter, Jeri; five brothers, Leonard Garland of Los Angeles, Thomas Z. Garland of Wichita, Calvin Garland and Bobby Garland, both of El Dorado and Raymond Garland of Denver; and two sisters, Marjorie Lavone Johnston of Los Angeles and Donna E. Miller of Wichita.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Lester Garland and Albert "Abe" Garland.

Joseph Allen Gentry, 95, of Augusta, died Thursday, May 1, 1986 at the Augusta Medical Complex. Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Dunsford Funeral Home in Augusta. Burial will be in Blankenship Cemetery in Rosalia.
He was born Feb. 18, 1891 in Perry, the son of Joseph Allen and Margaret (Miller) Gentry. He was married Sept. 15, 1962 in Augusta to Nellie Thompson. She survives at the home.
He was a retired tool pusher in the oil fields.

Stanley J. Graham, professional organist and pianist, died unexpectedly Monday morning at his home in Detroit, Mich. He was a brother of Mrs. G. E. Kassebaum of El Dorado and Mrs. A. E. Leaper of Wichita.

Mrs. Green was born Sept. 24, 1906 at Beloit. She was a homemaker.
She was married Aug. 21, 1929, at Beloit to Orville Green who died Jan. 2, 1968.
She was a member of the First Methodist church, American Legion Auxillary, Past President's Club, B. P. O. E., Elks Ladies, Rebekah Lodge, Past Noble Grand, Over 65 Club, Moose Lodge and Methodist Church Circle.
Survivors include: four sons, Olin Richard, Wichita Falls, Texas; Keith Francis, Irving, Texas, Ronald Ross, Overland Park and Gary Lee, Springhill; two daughters, Mrs. JaNean Beam, 1611 W. Towanda, El Dorado, Mrs. Delores Moore, Belton, Mo.; her parents, Mr. & Mrs. Harry Lindenmier, Beloit; one brother, Vernon Lindenmier, Colorado Springs, Colo., 15 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Funeral services for Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence H. Greiner (Eunice M. McNeal), 1415 County Club road, were held Wednesday at the First Baptist Church. They died Saturday, March 30 from carbon monoxide poisoning.
Mrs. Greiner's body was found Saturday morning in her car in the closed garage at their home. Mr. Greiner's body was found in an adjacent bedroom into which fumes had apparently seeped from the garage.
Rev. Donald D. McCracken, pastor, officiated at the services. Mrs. L. W. Newcomer, organist, accompanied John Schaak, who sang "Blessed Assurance" and "In the Garden." Casket bearers were W. Carl Paulson, O. J. Connell, Robert F. Hamilton, Chester A. Doornbos Jr., Glenn Tarrant, John Sullivan, Bill Kunkle, Lawrence Matthews, Larry Brown, John Bill McClure, Rex Bishop, and Clem H. Silvers.
Interment was at Memorial Park in St. Joseph, Mo., Kirby Funeral Home had charge of arrangements.
Mr. Greiner was born March 3, 1910 in Illinois, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Lucas Greiner (Maude M. Grebner). He had lived here most of his life. Mrs. Greiner was born April 4, 1912 at Pueblo, Colo., the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. R. W. McNeal (Mollie Hill) and had been a resident here since 1931. They were married December 23, 1931 in El Dorado. Mr. Greiner was owner operator of Greiner's Cleaners. Both were members of the First Baptist Church. Mr. Greiner was also a member of the Elks Lodge.
They are survived by a daughter, Mrs. Joanne McGlade, St. Joseph, Mo., and two grandchildren. In addition Mr. Greiner is survived by a sister, Miss Anna Marie Greiner of Overland Park, and a brother, G. Edward Greiner of Hayward, Calif., Mrs. Greiner is also survived by a sister, Mrs. J. M. Mrs. Charles (Edith) Gresham, 85, of 323 North Knight, Wichita, died Saturday. Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Minnis Mortuary, Bucklin, Kan.

Mrs. Floyd McDermed arrived home Tuesday after being called to Tulsa by the death of her brother in law D. E. Grider.
Mr. Grider was killed after losing control of his car which crashed into a house only a block from his own home. Mrs. Grider, who was a passenger, is in St. Johns hospital in Tulsa with serious injuries received in the accident.

Mrs. C. L. Gwin, 94, of Waynesville, Mo., died Wednesday at Waynesville. Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Waynesville.
She was the mother of Mrs. Gilbert Currie, 611 Marmaton road. (El Dorado Times 1974)
Mrs. Troy (Meryl) Groves, 80, 1015 North Taylor, died Saturday at Mid-America Nursing Center.
Funeral services are scheduled for 9 a.m. Tuesday at Dietz-Carlson Colonial chapel. Interment will be at 4 p.m. at the Blue Springs cemetery, Blue Springs, Neb.
A resident of El Dorado for the past 15 years and intermittently before, she had lived at Fall City, Neb., from 1940 until 1959.
She was first married to Lemuel Haskell, June 18, 1912, at Marysville, Kan. He died in April, 1953. She was later married to Troy Groves Mar. 18, 1959 at Fall City. He survives her.
She was a member of the First United Presbyterian church.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by a stepdaughter, Mrs. Alberta McGraw herington, Kan.; one sister, Mrs. P. O. (Verda) Phillips, fall City, and one step grandson. She was preceded in death by one brother and one sister. (El Dorado Times, Monday, March 25, 1974)
Norman L. Hess, Sr. 54, of 943 S. Clifton in Wichita, a Beech Aircraft Corp. machinist and brother of Robert Hess and Doris Wolfe of Benton and Maxine Ballou of Rose Hill, died Monday. Services are scheduled for 2 p.m.Wednesday at Culbertson-Smith Mortuary in Wichita.
Other survivors include his wife, Virginia; son, Norman L. Jr., of Wichita; daughters, Deborah Govern of Wichita and Delores Grimm of Conway Springs; brothers, Wayne R. and Arthur "Jack," both of Wichita, and Glenn L. of Fort Scott, and seven grandchildren.

Clyde V. Hill, 58, of El Dorado, died Wednesday evening at Susan B. Allen Memorial Hospital after a short illness. Services will be 3:30 p.m. Saturday at the Temple Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the Benton cemetery.
He was born June 15, 1926 at Cooper, Okla., the son of Riley John and Helen J. Brite Hill. He had lived in El Dorado since 1967, living previously in Wichita and at Valley Center for eight years. He worked for the Derby refinery at Wichita. He was a member of the Temple Baptist church and the Oil Chemical and Atomic Workers Union at Wichita. He served in the Navy during World War II.
On May 16, 1950 he married Joanne Linn in Arkansas.
Survivors include his wife, of the home, one son, Clyde Riley Hill Wichita, two daughters, Mrs. Shirley reed and Madeloon Wells, both of El Dorado; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Riley J. Hill, Eureka; four sisters, Mary Jane Norvell and Peggy Swafford, both of Phoenix, Helen Schroeder, El Dorado, and Twila Simon, Topeka; and four grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother.

Milton D. "Red" Hilyard, 66 of Andover, a retired Beech Aircraft Corp. superintendent, died Wednesday. Services are schedule for 2 p.m. Saturday at Lakeview Mortuary in Wichita.
Survivors include his wife, Hazel, son, Gerald of Wichita, daughter Carol Harbert of Clearwater; sister, Beulah Hilyard and Mildred Faulk, both of Warner Robins, Ga. And Beryl Borden of Wichita; and seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Lois P. Hind, 63, of Newton, Presbyterian Manors of Mid America secretary and mother of Michael Hind of Elbing, died Thursday. Services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday at Peterson funeral Home in Newton.
Other survivors include her husband, Maurice, son, Maurice, Jr., of Oklahoma City, daughter, Sherry Bazil of Newton; sister, Alma Watkins of Newton; and four grandchildren.

C. Lee McCracken, 48, Augusta, industrial insulator, died on Tuesday, June 13, in El Dorado.
A memorial service will be held at noon on Thursday, June 15, at Hillside Funeral Home Chapel in Augusta.
Lee is survived by his brothers, Steve (Cheryl) of Tuttle, Okla., and Wayne (Jane) of Yukon, Okla.

Donna Jean "Jeannie" (Long) Miller, 63, El Dorado, formerly of Augusta, retired Hillside Funeral Home secretary, died on Thursday, June 15, 2006.
Visitation until 8 p.m. this evening; service at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, both at Hillside Funeral Home Chapel in Augusta.

Owen "Smitty" Wesley Smith, 79, Douglass, died on Wednesday, June 7, 2006.

He retired in 1988 as a welder with J.I. Case.

A 61 year old El Dorado man was killed Friday when the truck he was driving was struck broadside by a train in Butler County, said Undersheriff John Everett.
The victim was identified as William Thomas, an oil field maintenance worker employed by a company based in El Dorado, authorities said. He was pronounced death about 11 a.m. at the scene of the accident.
Thomas was crossing railroad tracks on an oil field road on private property about five miles south of Augusta when he was struck broadside by the Santa Fe train, Everett said. The crash tore the truck in half and dragged the cab and the victim about 100 yards. The truck's fuel tanks ruptured and burned. (September 23, 1995)

Augusta, Kan. - Services for Ira C. Tyler, 58, Santa Fe Railway brakeman, will be at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday in Dunsford Funeral Home. He died Saturday.
