Leonard Perry Brunson, 75, Augusta, passed away Saturday, September 22, 2007 in Wichita.
Memorial service at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 29, at the Dunsford-Zeiner Funeral Home, Augusta. Casual attire is requested.
Leonard started out working for IBM for five years and then retired in 1995 after 35 years as Director of Loss Control for FEMIC/Farmland/Nationwide Insurance Companies. He was a member of the American Legion Post 189. Leonard was born to Henry Emmett and Ruth Sarah (Hughes) Brunson February 16, 1932, in Eureka, Kansas. He married Yvonne Charlene Walker on June 9, 1956.
Survivors: spouse, Yvonne of the home; son, Doug Brunson, Las Vegas, Nev.; daughters, Terri (Steve) Eisiminger, Hutchinson, Diane (Paul) Rhoten, Augusta, Janice (Shawn) Hartshorn, Avon, Iowa; brother, Joe (Phyllis) Brunson, Augusta; sisters, Montie (Ralph) Rosencrantz, Lawrence, Pat Seward, Arkansas City; eight grandchildren, Ben Eisiminger, Melinda Willard, Caitlin, Sean and Allison Rhoten, Logan Brunson, Kayleigh and Elizabeth Hartshorn; one great-granddaughter, Michaela Willard; and faithful companion, P.J.
Preceded in death by parents and a brother, Bud Brunson.

Terry E. Duethman, 49, Augusta, formerly of Paola, passed away on Saturday, Sept. 29, 2007, at the Children's Mercy Hospital.
A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday, at the St. Vincent DePaul Catholic Church in Andover. A rosary will be recited at 6 p.m. Thursday, with visitation following at 6:30 to 8 p.m. at the Wilson & Son Funeral Home in Paola. Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 5, at the Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Paola; with burial following at Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Ottawa.
Terry was born on Sept. 17, 1958 in Ottawa to Wilfred "Wil" L. and Wilma "Willie" O. Ruby Duethman. He grew up in Paola and attended Holy Trinity Catholic Grade School and graduated from Paola High School in 1976. He enrolled at Kansas State University and graduated with a bachelor degree in Animal Science in 1981. After graduation, Terry moved to Attica and worked for the local veterinary clinic. He then was employed at Cargill Feed Products and moved to Sioux City, Iowa, where he lived until being transferred to Wichita when the company was purchased by Westway Feed Products, before making his home in Augusta. While working at Westway he was in charge of the Liquid Feed Division. He traveled through the state helping cattle ranchers with the proper nutrition of their cattle. He was also a partner in a land development company with BJ DeGrande. He was married for 21 years and had three children.
Terry was a member of the St. Vincent DePaul Catholici Church in Andover and served on the parish council. He was also active in sports in the Augusta area, coaching several baseball, football, and basketball teams throughout the years. He was also active with the Recreation Board in Towanda, the Kansas Livestock Association and the National Cattle and Beef Association. He was very outgoing and never met a stranger. He enjoyed raising livestock, farming, hunting and fishing, but his main focus was his family.
He is survived by: his parents, Wil and Willie Duethman of Paola; children, Emily Jo, Nicholas Clayton, and Noah Augustine Duethman of the home; brothers, Charles (Susie) Duethman of St. Charles, La. and Jon (Jenna) Duethman of Broken Arrow, Okla.; sisters, Mary Jo (Mike) Brosch of Leawood, Jan (Richard) Torrez of Topeka; a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and friends who will miss him greatly.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Elaine Sue Duethman in 1954 and his grandparents.

Joan E. Fudge, 71, Douglass, retired WSU secretary, died on Thursday, Sept. 27, 2007.
Private service will be held in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Concordia.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin Fudge, and an infant son.

Karlene Gail Gass, 68, long-time Augusta resident, homemaker and daycare provider, passed away on Thursday, Sept. 27, 2007.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 30; funeral service at 1 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 1, both at Headley Funeral Chapel, Augusta.
She is survived by her husband of nearly 32 years, Robert LeRoy; daughter, Billie Gail; sons, James Donald, Robert LeRoy III, and Girard David; mother, Amanda Louise Franklin; two sisters, Sandy Kay Vaughn and Linda Louise Ivie; brother, Dennis Wayne Franklin; 11 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her father, Carl A. Franklin and her sister, Val Jeana Robinson.

Paul John Gilson, 82, Augusta, retired Beechcraft maintenance employee, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 26, 2007, at Lakepoint of Augusta.
Visitation will be from noon until 1:30 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 1, at Dunsford-Zeiner Funeral Home, Augusta. Graveside service at 2 p.m. at Elmwood Cemetery, Augusta. Those attending should use the 12th St. entrance to the Cemetery.
Paul was born May 11, 1925 in Butler County to John and Harriet Gilson, and married Roberta Elizabeth (Powell) on Jan. 21, 1961 in Augusta.
Survivors include: daughter, Faye Boley; grandson, Kyle Boley, both of Augusta; brother, Hubert Gilson.

Dwayne B. Lackey, 88, Augusta, went home to his Lord and family, Wednesday, Oct. 3, 2007. Sixty-two years to the day that he met Darlene, his wife of 62 years. He died surrounded by his family.
Graveside service was held this afternoon at Elmwood Cemetery, Augusta.
D.B. was born on a farm S.E. of Douglass on March 12, 1919, to Inez (Conner) and Arvy Lackey. He was the fifth of seven children.
He served in the Navy from 1941 to 1945 as an amphibious landing craft pilot in the Pacific theatre. He retired from the Augusta Mobil Refinery after thirty-nine years of service. On December 9, 1946 he married Darlene Chrismon in Wichita.
He will be remembered for his faith, his love of music and his generosity and kindness to people and animals. He tried and usually succeeded in making everyone he met smile. His face lit up whenever a child spoke to him and he loved to make rhymes and songs to hear them laugh. Around home he often sang "This World Is Not My Home, I'm Just Passing Through". Today he is rejoicing with the angels.
Surviving family: Darlene, his wife; children and spouses, Darwayne Ann Lackey; Darwin Lackey and wife Rita; all of Augusta; and Debbie Lucas and husband Jim of Leon; Arvada Lackey, his sister, of Augusta; and grandsons, Johnny and Peter Lucas and Skeeter; Devin and Barney Dowell.
He was preceded in death by brother Glyn; sisters Wilma Scott, Neoma Lackey, and Iona Clark.

Lola Nadine (Yardley) MacWilliams, 75, Augusta, retired sheet metal worker for numerous aircraft manufacturers in the area, passed away Friday, Sept. 21, 2007, at Kansas Medical Center in Andover.
A family service will be held at a later date.
Lola was born on Jan. 27, 1932 in Lockwood Township, Mo. to Oba Henry and Violet Elaine (McCubbin) Yardley. They precede her in death.
Other survivors include: sons, Albert (Eileen) Miller, Augusta, Ronnie Miller, Austin, Texas, Keith Titus, Hutchinson, Brand (Susanne) Soupene, Jacksonville, Fla.; daughters, Becky (Ron) Blanscet, Augusta, Jo (Lee) Sproule, Fall River; sister, Louise Miller, Springfield, Mo., 13 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and one on the way, 1 great-great-grandchild and another one on the way.

Johnrey Ansay McGrew, 16 day old infant son of Steve and Marina "Mary" McGrew, passed away Thursday, Sept. 20, 2007.
Funeral service was held Saturday at Dunsford-Zeiner Funeral Home, Augusta. Interment followed at Elmwood Cemetery, Augusta.
