Rozetta A. Benjamin, 93, Wichita, mother of Joyce E. Gray of Rural Augusta, died on Saturday, April 8, 2006.

Viewing from 1 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, both at DeVorss Flanagan-Hunt Mortuary Chapel in Wichita.

Other survivors include: son, Carlos G. Benjamin, Sr., of Wichita, daughter, Rosanne Cox of Grand Prairie, Texas; 15 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren, 13 great-great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by husband, Ernest N. Benjamin, eight siblings and one great-grandson.

BRUNTON, LUCILLEL MAY

Lucille May (Bishop) Brunton, 85, Augusta, Cessna Aircraft risk loss manager over 40 years, passed away on Friday, Oct. 27, 2006.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. this evening at Dunsford-Zeiner Funeral Home in Augusta.

Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 31, at Central Baptist Church, 7421 SW Church Road, Augusta. Rev. Ron Jones will officiate. Interment will be at Elmwood Cemetery in Augusta.

Mrs. Brunton was born on Jan. 12, 1921 in DeGraff, the daughter of Frank and Alma (Martin) Bishop.

She married Paul Harold Brunton on Nov. 1, 1946.

Her survivors include: son, Steven (Peggy) Brunton of Wichita; daughter, Cindy (Jim) Sims of Wichita; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; brothers, Charles and Howard Bishop; infant siblings, John and Delores.

DETIENNE, LARRY

Larry DeTienne, 64, of Wichita, died Thursday, April 6, 2006, at College Hill Nursing Home in Wichita. Services are 2 p.m. Saturday, April 8, at Carlson Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Sunset Lawns Cemetery.

He was born Jan. 20, 1942, at Clarksville, Mo., the son of Desire Joseph and Lucile (Mitchell) DeTienne. He spent almost his entire life in this area and was a brick tender, working for Mitchell Masonary. He was a member of the Baptist Church, a beautiful artist and loved to hunt and fish and then fish some more.

He had married Joyce Marshall, later marrying Phyllis Breenman, Linda Keck and Shirley Jean Baine in 1977 in Topeka. She preceded him in death on Feb. 9, 2006.

Survivors include: sons, Eric DeTienne of Newton, Alex ray DeTienne of Independence, Darrin Alan DeTienne of Columbus and Jason Wayne DeTienne of Independence, stepson, Joe Wehmeier of Iola; sister, Jackie Anthony of El Dorado, three granddaughters and two step-grandchildrne.

He was preceded in death by his parents and twin baby girls.

DICKINSON, DOROTHY L.

Dorothy L. Dickinson, 88, of Augusta, retired Augusta high school cook, passed away on Friday, April 7, 2006.

Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Elmwood Cemetery in Augusta.

Visitation from 4 to 8 p.m. this evening at Hillside Funeral Home in Augusta.

Her survivors include: sons, Darwin of Augusta and Kenneth of Lyons, two grandchildren, three great-grandchildren.

HART, PHILLIP ADRIAN

Adrian Phillip Hart, 77, retired welder for Plumbers & Pipe Fitters Union and Korean War Veteran, died Monday, April 10, 2006. Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Sunday at River of Life Ministries Church, 5066 NW 50th, El Dorado. A dinner will follow the services at 12:30 p.m. at the railroad station for family and friends.

Survivors include his wife, Mary L. (Chastain) Moore Hart of El Dorado, brother, Ivan Hart of Augusta, children, Berl Hart of Tulsa, Okla., Jerri Reed of Wichita, Jackie Moore of El Dorado, Jay Moore III of El Dorado, Juanada Vaughn of Iowa and Jaylena Lewis of California, many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Jill Vina Jones, and a sister Marion.

Linda Judy Hill, 50, of Douglass, died Wednesday, April 5, 2006 at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita.

Services are 10 a.m. Monday, April 10 at Chaput-Buoy Funeral Chapel in Concordia with the Rev. Barry Brinkman officiating. Burial will follow at Scottsville Cemetery in Scottsville.

Visitation will be 2-9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Survivors include: husband, James "Jim" Hill of Douglass, sister, Mary Kathryn, daughter, Elizabeth Schmeck of Oregon, sons, Gerald Schmeck and Willie Schmeck, both of Oregon and one grandchild, Felicidee Schmeck of Oregon.

She was preceded in death by her parents and brother.

IVY, PAULINE M.

Pauline M. Ivy, 82, of El Dorado, died Tuesday, April 11, 2006 at Via Christi St. Francis Medical Center in Wichita. Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday April 15 at Carlson Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Walnut Valley Memorial Park.

She was born May 13, 1923 in Atlanta, Ill., the daughter of Lucien Leeds and Harriet Elizabeth (Wood) Turley. She made her home in El Dorado for a number of years, leaving in 1945 and then returning in 1955. Pauline worked for a number of local businesses - Gibson's, Woolworth's, Farm & Home and then was a checker at Dillons for 16 years before retiring. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church.

On Oct. 15, 1945 Pauline and John T. Ivy were married in Detroit, Mich.

Survivors include: husband of the home, son Thomas Lee Ivy and wife Betty of Sand Springs, Okla., daughters, Carol A. Hudson of Wichita and Robyn Dick and husband Gary of El Dorado, seven grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, three sisters and a half-brother.

LASSMANN, VIRGINIA M.

Virginia M. lassmann, 85, Augusta, homemaker, died on Saturday, April 8, 2006.

Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 11 at Christ Lutheran Church in Augusta.

Visitation until 8 p.m. this evening at Headley Funeral Chapel in Augusta.

Mrs. Lassmann was born in Cheney on August 18, 1920, the daughter of Thomas M. and Nellie B. (Hawkins) Garnett. On Aug. 17, 1940, she married Clyde V. Lassmann. He preceded her in death in 1986. An infant son preceded her in death as well.

She is survived by sons, Frank, Fred and his wife, Kathy of Augusta, granddaughter, Angelic Lassmann Morgan and her husband, Brad; great-grandchildren, Jacob and Lauren, all of Arlington, Texas, sisters, Thelma Futhey and Betty Rose Womack, of Rose Hill, Erma Lee Brown of Wichita, brother, Billy Garnett of Coffeyville.

LYTLE, CHARLES A.

Charles A. Lytle, 79, Augusta, retired engineer from Mobil Oil Research and Development in Princeton, N.J., passed away on Wednesday, April 12, 2006.

Memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, April 15, at First United Methodist Church, Augusta.

Charles was born in York, Neb., on Dec. 17, 1926, the son of Charles and Lillie (King) Lytle. He was a graduate of U.S. Merchant Marine Academy and attended Lehigh University and Oklahoma State University. He also was a retired Commander from the United States Navy, serving in both World War II and the Korean war. He was a member of First United Methodist Church, Augusta and served on various boards of the church. He had been on the planning board of Butler Community College and the board for building Osage Manor in Augusta. On Aug. 24, 1949 he married Darlene Johnson in Polk, Neb. She survives.

Other survivors include: son, dr. Michael Lytle and wife, Sarah of Phoenix, Ariz., daughter, Virginia Lytle of Augusta, brother, Dr. Robert Lytle and wife, Phyllis of Pinehurst, N.C.; grandchildren, Nicholas and Kelly McClure, Lucas McClure, Ben and Meaghan McClure, Casey, Charles and Lea Lytle; great-grandchild, Kaden McClure.

He was preceded in death by sons, Thomas and Peter.

NEFF, JOHN ALAN

John Alan Neff, 40, Augusta, restaurant night manager, passed away on Thursday, Oct. 19, 2006.

Graveside memorial service will be at 1 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 23, at Elmwood Cemetery, Augusta. Those attending should use the 12th St. entrance.

He was born on Jan. 26, 1966 in Jefferson City, Mo., the son of Arthur Neff and Phyllis Ulshafer.

His survivors include: son, Garrett Neff; mother, Phyllis Ulshafer, Augusta, brother, Randy Welch, Augusta; sister, Loneta Krack, Augusta; grandmother, Doris Schwarz of Wichita; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his step-father, James "Bear" Ulshafer.

Memorial donations may be made to the educational fund for his son, Garrett.

PEAL, IRENE H.

Irene H. Peal, 91, El Dorado, died suddenly at her home on Wednesday, Oct. 25, 2006.

Celebration of her life will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 28, at Kirby-Morris Funeral Home in El Dorado. Interment will follow at Walnut Valley Memorial Gardens.

Irene was born on Nov. 16, 1914, in Augusta, to Ray and Grace Oliver Holem. She graduated from El Dorado High School in 1934. Irene married Lewis J. Whiteside on Dec. 25, 1934, he preceded her in death on Dec. 1, 1965. On Jan. 18, 1975, she married L. Harold Peal, he preceded her in death on Nov. 1, 1995.

Irene loved to read, do needlepoint and embroidery. She belonged to the Rebekah Lodge and Ladies Encampment Auxiliary.

She is survived by her daughter, Mary and husband, Richard Fioretto of Towanda; three granddaughters, Susan Hill of Olathe, Sharon Beeves of Overland Park, and Lori Burris of St. Louis, Mo.; two great-granddaughters and one great-grandson.

In addition to her two husbands, she was also preceded in death by a brother.

SHAVER, VIOLA ICYLENE

Viola Icylene Shaver, 95, homemaker, Douglass, passed away on Monday, Nov. 6, 2006.

Visitation from 1 to 8 p.m. today at Hillside Funeral Home in Augusta.

Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 10, at the United Methodist Church in Douglass.

She was born on March 21, 1911, in Adair, Okla., to John and Elizabeth Merritt.

She married Fred Shaver on April 13, 1932, in Delta, Colo., and joined the Nazarene Church on Jan. 1, 1933.

She is survived by: sons, Edward, Harold, and Charles; daughter, Freda Bergley; 14 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred; great-grandson, Joshua; parents, four brothers, and three sisters.

Memorials may go to the Douglass United Methodist Church.

Robert G. "Bus" Thomas, 74, of Douglass, retired IGA meat cutter, died Thursday, March 30, 2006. Services were held 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 4, at the First Baptist Church, Douglass.

THORBURN, RAYMOND L.

Raymond L. Thorburn, 82, of El Dorado, died Saturday morning, April 8, 2006, at Lakepoint Nursing Center. Services are 10 a.m. Wednesday at Kirby-Morris Funeral Home. Cremation will precede the services.

Raymond was born Sept. 25, 1923, in Augusta, the son of Pal and Minnie (Tatum) Thorburn. He had lived in Butler County all of his life. On Oct. 4, 1944 he was united in marriage to Iris Mae Buffalow in El Dorado. During World War II he served his country on the USS Cumberland Sound in the United States Navy. After being honorably discharged from the service he went to work for Boeing Aircraft and later Cessna Aircraft where he retired.

Memberships included the Patmos Masonic Lodge, the Butler County Shrine Club and was a lifetime member of the D. A. V. He attended the Assembly of God Church.

Survivors include: his wife, Iris of the home; one son, Jerry and wife, Jody Thorburn of El Dorado, one brother, Paul and his wife, Easter Thorburn, Jr., of El Dorado; one sister, Barbarra Koogler of El Dorado, six grandchildren, and 13 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one son, Robert, and one daughter, Carol Diane Thorburn.

WALKER, MAYNARD FRANK

Maynard Frank Walker, 61, Augusta, printer and lithographic stripper, passed away at his home on Thursday, Oct. 26, 2006.

There will be a memorial service at a later date.

He was born on March 25, 1945 in Wichita, the son of H.M. Walker and Catharine Lucinda (Smith) Walker. He married Kristen Leigh Canfield on June 22, 1968 in Augusta.

His survivors are: wife, Kristen Walker of the home; sons, Frank (Amy) Walker of Augusta and Jason (Mary) Walker of El Dorado; mother, Catharine Walker of Augusta; sisters, Joan Walker of Redwood City, Calif. and Yvonne Brunson of Augusta; five grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by: his father, H.M Walker; brother, David Walker, and sister, Patricia Rodriguez.

Samuel A. Ward, 92, of Augusta, retired Builders Inc. maintenance man and father of Robert Ward of El Dorado, died Thursday, Oct. 23, 1986. Service will be at 3 p.m. Monday at Resthaven Mortuary in Wichita.

Herbert Dwight Wehling, 41, of Great Bend, oil field worker, and father of John E. and Justin Wehling, both of Towanda, died Thursday, Oct. 23, 1986. Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Ayres Calbeck Mortuary in Pratt.

Vesta Whitby, 81, of El Dorado, retired teacher, died Sunday, Nov. 9, 1986. Service 2 p.m. Wednesday. Carlson Funeral Home.

WILSON, MYRTLE P.

Myrtle P. Wilson, 80, a resident of El Dorado since July 1986, and formerly of Douglass, died Oct. 23, 1986 at her Route 4, El Dorado home. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 25, at the Douglass Cemetery.

Born April 5, 1906, to Arthur Douglas and Julie M. (Wilford) Vent, she was preceded in death by her husband, Aubry W. Wilson, who died in 1965. They were married October 15, 1932, in Winfield. A homemaker all of her life, she was a member of the Douglass United Methodist Church and Order of the Eastern Star.

Survivors include four sons, John Kenney of El Dorado; Charles Wilson of Hays, Bill Wilson of Lakewood, Colo., and Larry G. Wilson of El Dorado, one brother, Clifton Brashear of Hutchinson, eleven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Charles V. Worden, 77, of Tipon, Mo., former El Dorado resident, retired drilling company employee, died Sunday, Nov. 23, 1986. Service 1 p.m. Monday, Walnut Valley Memorial Park Cemetery, El Dorado.
