Died January 31, Gerhard A. Regier, at the Bethel Hospital. Survived by six siblings, two brother-in-laws and one sister-in-law. Burial was in Zion Cemetery. (Independent, February 18, 1937)
Arlis A. Walker, 76, Route 2, El Dorado, died early Sunday morning in Allen Memorial Hospital after a lengthy illness.
He had been a resident of Butler County for 50 years, living in the El Dorado area 27 years and in the Douglass community 23 years.
Mr. Walker had made his home with Mr. and Mrs. W. E. Snodgrass since coming here.
He was born on Sept. 19, 1886 in Arkansas.
Survivors include a son, Glenn, who lives in Colorado; a half sister, Mrs. Orville Bishop, Wichita and one grandchild.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. in the Kirby Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Donald McCracken, pastor of the First Baptist Church officiating.
Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery at Augusta. (El Dorado Times, Monday, March 4, 1963)
The body of a 20 year old El Doradoan, who apparently took his own life, was discovered at his home here Friday afternoon.
The victim was Patrick lee Watkins, 20, of 311-1/2 West Towanda. Police said a .22 rifle was found near the body.
An investigation is continuing.
Private funeral services will be held Monday at 9 a.m. from the Dietz-Pittman Colonial Chapel. Rev. C. M. Nutter of the First Methodist Church will officiate. Interment will be in the Odd Fellows cemetery at 3 p.m. at Norman, Oklahoma.
Mr. Watkins had been a resident of El Dorado since 1951, coming here from Edmond, Oklahoma.
He was a member of the First Methodist Church. He had served in the Air Force for some time but was discharged because of ill health.
Mr. Watkins was born Aug. 26, 1942 at Amarillo, Texas and was married to Karen Jo Ellis, October 16, 1959 at El Dorado.
Survivors include the widow of the home; a daughter, Robin, 13 months, his mother, Mrs. Leona E. Watkins, 314 West Third, his father, Boyd W. Watkins of Oklahoma City, Okla., two brothers, Terry Gordon Watkins, Hartford, Conn., and Temple Boyd Watkins of La Puenta, Calif., a sister, Peggy Joyce Watkins of El Dorado and the paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. L. E. Watkins of Edmond, Okla. (El Dorado Times, July 12, 1963)
Final rites for Dewey Harrison Wheaton, 65, who died Tuesday, were conducted this morning at the Kirby Funeral Home Chapel by Dr. Joe Riley Burns, pastor of the First Methodist Church.
Graydon Waldorf sang Lifes Railway to Heaven, accompanied at the organ by mrs. Amos B. Marsh.
Serving as casket bearers were Albert Chambers, Clifford Booth, Clayton Cox, Frank Perry, Donald Cox, and Richard Cox.
Military rites were conducted by members of the Veterans of Foreign wars. Flag folders were Jack neighbors. Buglers were Mike Gard and Rex Beach.
Interment was in Sunset Lawns Cemetery. (El Dorado Times, March 26, 1964)
