Mr. Cook was a drywall finisher for Mid-West Drywall.

Samuel Stuart (sic), of Walnut township, on
Monday morning, last, of Pneumonia. Mr. Stuart (sic) was about 45 years of age, was of rugged constitution, and
usually enjoyed the best of health. He caught a severe cold while attending a sale some ten days before his death
which resulted in Pneumonia and he was suddenly taken away. He was an exemplary citizen, was beloved by all who
knew him and his entire neighborhood sincerely mourns its loss.

WHITEWATER - Donald Samuel Claassen, 84, retired
farmer from Whitewater, died Friday (April 28, 2006) at Wheat State Manor.
He was born July 13, 1921, at Whitewater to Edward and Catherina (Thiessen) Claassen.
He married Verbena Wedel June 6, 1943 at Goltry, Okla. She survives.
He attended both English and German schools near Whitewater during his grade school years. He attended Whitewater
High School and graduated in 1942 from Oklahoma Bible Academy. Along with his twin brother Daniel, he was recognized
in 1949 for an outstanding wheat crop by Sanners Feed Store of Whitewater magazine.
He was a member of the Swiss Church of Whitewater.
He is also survived by two daughters, Donna Babcock and husband David of Glenvil, Neb., and Janelle Queen of Hastings,
Neb.; five brothers, Daniel Claassen and wife Dora of Whitewater, Henry Claassen and wife Elsie of Whitewater,
Curt Claassena and wife Olga of Berne, Ind., David Claassen of Peoria, Ill. and Melvin Claassen and wife Martha
of Council Bluffs, Iowa; Brother in law Marvin Wedel of Enid, Okla; five sisters in law, Ruth Claassen of Santa
Cruz, Calif., Florence Claassen of Whitewater, Rosalie Glidewell of Lincoln, Ark., Ruby Sideman of Wichita and
Evelyn Wedel of Wichita; three step-grandchildren, Gene Babcock of Edgar, Neb., Beth Schlinctman and husband Rob
of Edgar, Neb. and Lee Babcock and wife Tara of Glenvil, Neb.; great granddaughter McKayla Brown of Hastings, Neb.;

Florence Kaufman Claassen, 87, died Wednesday
(July 26, 2006) at Wheat State Manor in Whitewater.
She was born Oct. 13, 1918, to John and Anna Kaufman in Freeman, S.D. She attended grade school and high school
in Freeman, S.D. She was baptized Sept. 25,1933, on confession of faith at Salem Mennonite Church in Freeman, S.D.
On March 20, 1941, she married Orlando Claassen of Whitewater. He preceded her in death May 21, 2004. Orlando and
Florence farmed near Whitewater for 40 years. During this time, she served at the Swiss Church in Whitewater as
youth choir director and Sunday school teacher, and she was active in the Sewing Circle. She also was active in
the Ladies Auxiliary at Berean Academy in Elbing. She was an accomplished seamstress and cook with which she served
her family and others in the community as well. In 1983, Florence and Orlando moved to Waxhaw, N.C., where they
spent 10 years doing volunteer work for Wycliffe Bible Translators. They moved back to Whitewater to spend their
last years with family.
Survivors include: nine children, Glenford and Linda Claassen of Waxhaw, N.C., Luanne and Homer Leichliter of Rochester,
Minn., Anita and Eldon Thiessen of Topeka, Arlys and Al Wiens of Munich, N.D., Darryl and Cindy Claassen of rural
Whitewater, Christine and D.J. Harms of rural Newton, Evanelle and Dan Olinger of Bel Aire, Priscilla and Sid Litke
of Port Washington, Wis., and Carol and Steve Blakeman of Sacramento, Calif.; 35 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by: her parents; a stepmother; six brothers; and a grandchild.
Visitation will be from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Lamb Mortuary in Whitewater.
Memorial service will be 11 a.m. Monday at the Federated Church in Whitewater. A graveside service will be prior
to the memorial service.
A memorial has been established for JAARS, Inc., Wycliffe Bible Translators and Wheat State Manor, all in care
of the funeral home.

Hazel Clara Entz, 91, of Whitewater, died Friday,

He was born Dec. 9, 1912, near Lehigh, Kan., the son of Jacob C. and Susanna Goossen Hiebert.
On April 14, 1937, he married Mary Schmidt at Tabor Mennonite Church in Goessel, Kan. She survives of the home.
He lived on a farm south of Whitewater from 1944 to 1961, then moved into the city of Whitewater, where he lived
until his death. He was a retired farmer and builder and was a member of the Swiss Church of Whitewater, where
he served as a trustee for mnay years.
Other survivors, in addition to his wife, are a son, Willard Hiebert of Moorhead, Minn.; a daughter, Gladys Walling
of Winifred, Mont.; a sister, Edna Hiebert of Newton; three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one granddaughter.
Memorials in his memory have been established with Ponca Bible Camp or Hospice Care of Kansas.

She was born Sept. 21, 1904, on a farm 1/2 mile northeast of Whitewater, the daughter of David Henry and Elise
Zuercher Rutschman. She attended Whitewater schools and graduated from Whitewater High School. She attended Bethel
College in North Newton for three years and then taught school for three years. On May 14, 1931, on a farm near
Elbing, she married Fred E. Langenegger, Sr. He preceded her in death on Sept. 30, 2000. She was a member of the
Swiss Church of Whitewater. She was a retired homemaker.
Survivors include: sons, David Langenegger of Rogers, Ark., and Fred E. Langenegger, Jr. of Newton; daughters,
Orrine Brandt of Searcy, Ark., Evelyn Thiessen and Elizabeth Rempel, both of Fresno, Calif.; brother, Laverne Rutschman

NEWTON - Harriet Rutschman, 82, died Sept.
7, 2006, after a long illness with multiple system atrophy.
She was born Aug. 9, 1924, in Columbus, Ohio, the daughter of Carl and Luella Dupre Fischbach. A resident of Newton,
she was a retired Mennonite Mission worker and teacher.
She married Laverne Rutschman. He survives.
Other survivors include: four sons, David, Robert, Tom and Richard; a daughter, Ruth Rutschman Holliday; 17 grandchildren;
and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a brother, John Fischbach; a sister, Mary Lou Klinger; and a granddaughter.
Graveside service will be at 4 p.m. Saturday in Swiss Mennonite Church Cemetery, near Whitewater. Memorial service
will be at 5:30 p.m. Saturday at Shalom Mennonite Church, Newton. The family will greet friends from 6 to 9 p.m.
Friday at Petersen's Funeral Home, Newton.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the Mennonite Mission Network, Shalom Mennonite Church or Harry Hynes
Memorial Hospice, all in care of the funeral home.

WHITEWATER - Boyd M. White, 78, of Whitewater
died Thursday (March 23, 2006) at Wheat State Manor in Whitewater.
He was born Aug. 16, 1927, in Allen, Neb., to Floyd A. White and Ardith Carol Caulk.
He married Betty J. Saxon March 6, 1950, in Minneapolis, Minn. He was a devoted and faithful husband, father and
grandfather. His wife, Betty, survives of the home.
He served the Lord in ministry throughout his life. He was a soldier for the Lord and taught many Bible classes,
worked with varied youth groups and pioneered the first AWANA groups and puppet ministries in the state of Kansas.
He had an evangelist heart and worked with Youth Camp Ministries and troubled youth throughout his life.
He was raised on a farm and loved working on them. He enjoyed gardening and was said to have "a preacher's
heart and farmer's blood."
His grandchildren will remember the "wisdom walks" they took with him as they were growing up.
He was an Army veteran.
In addition to his wife, other survivors include: daughter, Christine Flora and husband Ed of Sedgwick; sons Mark
D. White of Stover, Mo., and Jeffrey M. White of Kansas City, Kan.; sisters, Dorothy Bohler of Monument, Colo.,
and Helen Gould of Marlinsberg, Neb.; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Calvary Bible Church. Dr. Robert Kleinschmidt of Calvary Bible Church in
Wichita will officiate. Burial will be in Swiss Church Cemetery in rural Whitewater.
Visitation will be from 3 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Petersen Funeral Home in Newton. Family will greet friends from 5
to 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
A memorial has been established with Source of Light in care of the funeral home.

He had been a computer operator at Emprise Bank in Wichita.

He was born March 3, 1937, in Whitewater to Abe and Wilma (Flaming) Wohlgemuth. He is a high school graduate.
On Aug. 28, 1958, he married Jan Diller in Ohio.
He was a member of Swiss Church in Whitewater.
Survivors include: wife, Jan of the home; son, Kevin Wohlgemuth of Peoria, Ariz.; brothers, Howard Wohlgemuth of
Hesston, Larry Wohlgemuth of Houston and Dick Wohlgemuth of Spring Grove, Minn.; sister, Kathy Wiebe of Whitewater;
and five grandchildren.
