OFFEN, HAROLD J.

Harold J. Offen, 93, of El Dorado, died Thursday morning, March 24, 1994 at a local nursing home. Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Saturday in Walnut Valley Memorial Park Cemetery. Patmos Masonic Lodge will conduct services at the cemetery.

He was born June 2, 1900, in Topeka, the son of Charles Edward and Beatrice M. (Foster) Offen, and moved to El Dorado in 1919 from Wichita. For many years he worked for KG&E and retired as Division Meter Foreman.

In 1923, he and Charlotte M. Stark were married in El Dorado. She preceded him in death. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church and was a Past Master of the Masonic Lodge.

Survivors include, son, Benny L. of El Dorado, four grandchildren, four great-grandchildren. Kirby Morris Funeral Home has the arrangements. (El Dorado Times, March 24, 1994)

OLIVER, JOE M.

Joe M. Oliver, 82, of El Dorado, died Monday, June 13, 1994, at St. Joseph Health Center, in St. Charles, Mo. Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Carlson Funeral Home. Burial will be in Sunset Lawns Cemetery. Rev. Stan Seymour will officiate the services.

He was born Feb. 22, 1912, in Dallas, Texas, the son of D. C. and Bessie Lee Buffington Oliver. He was a retired oilfield worker for Haliburton and had lived in El Dorado for 23 years. He was a member of the First Christian Church and Patmos Masonic Lodge.

On July 3, 1934, he and M. Louise Meek were married.

Survivors include: wife, M. Louise, sons, Dr. Robert Oliver of St. Charles, Mo., Ken Oliver of Houston, Texas, brother, Dan Oliver of Seattle, Wash.; five grandchildren, six great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and two sisters. (El Dorado Times, June 15, 1994)

OLSEN, KENNETH

Kenneth Olsen, 76, rancher, a lifelong resident of Greenwood County, died Monday, Dec. 19, 1994. Services are 10 a.m. Thursday at Campbell-Kelley Funeral Home in Eureka.

Survivors include: wife, Vivian, son, Dan of Raymore, Mo., daughters, Nancy Browning of Salem, Ore., Jane Bengston of Austin, Texas, Rita Anello of Silverton, Ore.; brothers, Cecil, Clarence, both of Eureka, sister, Mary of Denver, seven grandchildren.

Memorials are to the Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks, Region 4 Deer and Bird Habitat. (El Dorado Times, Dec. 20, 1994)

ORR, GEORGIA L.

Georgia L. Orr, 99, died Saturday, Nov. 12, 1994 at Medicine Lodge. Services were held Tuesday with burial in the Caney cemetery.

She was born may 27, 1895, in Mound Valley, the daughter of Ruben W. and Alice Smith, and grew up on a ranch near Caney. She earned a teaching certificate at Emporia State Teachers College and later taught school. On Nov. 30, 1919, she and Robert L. "R. L." Orr were married in Peru, Kan. He died Feb. 3, 1967. They had lived in El Dorado since 1937 where "R.L." owned and operated Oil Well Servicing.

She was a member of P.E.O., Eastern Star and the First Methodist Church of El Dorado.

Survivors include: son, Robert J. of JaJolla, Calif., daughter, Elizabeth Smith of Medicine Lodge, five grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren.

OSBORNE, NETTIE L.

Nettie L. Osborne, 88, of Augusta, died Tuesday, March 29, 1994 at the Augusta Medical Complex. Services are 2 p.m. Friday at Hillside Funeral Home in Augusta. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery.

She was born Jan. 20, 1906, in Vermillion, to John Smith and Dora (Holland). On Sept. 17, 1924, she and Eugene D. Osborne were married in Marysville.

Survivors include: son, Roy of El Dorado, daughters, Betty Jean Reavis, Margaret Hodson, both of Augusta, Mildred Jackson of Arkansas City, sister, Geraldine Wells of Spanaway, Calif., 11 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, one daughter and one sister. (El Dorado Times, March 29, 1994)

OSBURN, MANNY E.

Manny E. Osburn, 66, of Liberal, formerly of Whitewater, died Friday, Feb. 11, 1994. Services will be 10 a.m. today at the First United Methodist Church.

Survivors include: wife, Marjorie, son, Frank of Houston, daughters, Chris Bridge of Liberal, Connie Johnson of Broken Arrow, Okla., Peggy Stefansen of Prague, Okla. Cindy Craig of Keller, Texas, brother, John of Whitewater, sisters, Maryjune Graham, Ruth Merritt, Barb Jackson all of Whitewater, Mildred Davies of Marion, eight grandchildren.

Memorials have been established with Southwest Home Care and First United Methodist Church.

OSTERHOUT, JUANITA 'BEA'

Juanita "Bea" Osterhout, 73, of rural El Dorado, died Sunday morning, Jan. 30, 1994 at Susan B. Allen Hospital. Services are 11 a.m. Tuesday at First Christian Church. Burial will be in Sunset Lawns Cemetery. Rev. Stan Seymour will officiate the services.

She was born Oct. 31, 1920, in Houston, Mo., the daughter of Bennie and Essie (Brandon) Pryor and graduated from Midian High School in 1937. She lived in the Butler County area most of her life.

She retired as vice president of the Walnut Valley State Bank in 1982. On May 9, 1966, she and George Osterhout were married in Miami, Okla. Her memberships included the First Christian Church and the American Legion Auxiliary Post 81.

Survivors include: husband, George, son, David Beckner of Huntington Beach, Calif., daughter Mary Maloney of El Dorado, four grandchildren.

OTT, HARVEY D.

Harvey D. Ott, 81, of El Dorado, died Wednesday, Aug. 31, 1994 at his home.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Carlson Funeral Home. Burial will follow the services in Sunset Lawns Cemetery.

The family will receive friends and relatives Thursday evening at Carlson Funeral Home. (El Dorado Times, Sept. 1, 1994)

Harvey Daniel Ott, 81, of El Dorado, died Wednesday, Aug. 31, 1994 at his home. Services are 2 p.m. Friday at Carlson Funeral Home with Pastor Dennis Kuder officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Lawns Cemetery.

He was born May 18, 1913, in Lamont, the son of John and Clara Riggenbach Ott, and he graduated from Madison (Kan.) High School in 1931. During WWII he served as Base Sergeant-Major in the Air Corps at Harlingen Gunnery Training School in Texas. There he met and married Kay Elmore in 1942.

He was part owner of a dairy in Brownsville, Texas, farmed and ranched for five years in Crystal City, Texas, and for 27 years was a sales representative for Schreiber Mills Inc. in St. Joseph, Mo. He lived in El Dorado for 22 years and was a long time member of the Elks Club and a member of the First United Methodist Church.

Survivors include: wife, Kay, daughter, Karla Kay Arnall, grandson, Wesley Arnall, all of El Dorado, sisters, Mildred Schupbach of Chanute, Bernell Morrison of Tulsa, Okla., Betty Has, of Lamont. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and two sisters.

Memorials are to the First United Methodist Church and Hospice Inc. (El Dorado Times, Aug. 31, 1994)

OYLER, JULIA R.

Julia R. Oyler, 79, of Garden City, died Thursday, April 14, 1994, at her home. Services are 2 p.m. today in Mt. Hope cemetery, Independence. Rev. Richard Buck will officiate.

She was born Dec. 31, 1914, in Independence, the daughter of Victor H and Nellie Pearl Winnegar Corbin. She was a homemaker and had been a resident of Garden City since moving from El Dorado in March 1994. She attended the United Methodist Church in El Dorado.

On Sept. 25, 1934, she and Miles W. Oyler were married in Independence. He died Dec. 5, 1988.

Survivors include: sons, Mylo of Garden City, Gary of Salt Lake City, Utah, two grandchildren, one great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents, and a brother.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are to Susan B. Allen Memorial Hospital. Price & Sons Funeral Home has the arrangements. (El Dorado times, Apr. 16, 1994)
