Iva Mae Palmer, 83, of Wichita, a homemaker, died Wednesday, September 28, 1994.

She was born March 3, 1911 in Tucumcari, N.M., to Murray Lee Biles and Walsie E. Akin.
She is survived by her husband, Ralph W. Palmer, sons, Richard C. Palmer of camp Verde, Ariz., Donald L. Palmer of Topeka, Keith R. palmer of Edmond, Okla., brothers, Bob Biles of Wichita, Alfred Biles and Arlie Biles, both of Hutchinson; sisters, Pat Burbank and Evelyn Long, both of Hutchinson, Hazel Bulger of Wichita, nine grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.

John B. Payne, 78, of El Dorado, died Sunday, July 10, 1994. Services are 10 a.m. Wednesday at the First United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Labette Cemetery.
He was born Aug. 23, 1915, in Altamont, the son of Claude and Olive M. (Bryant) Payne. On Aug. 23, 1941, he and Grace Bennett were married in Buffalo. He was a veteran of WWII and served in the U.S. Army.
For more than 35 years he worked for the Department of Agriculture with the Soil Conservation Service. His memberships included the First United Methodist Church and the American Legion Post.
Survivors include, wife, Grace, son, Douglas of Wilmington, Del., daughter, Patricia LaCalamito of Kansas City, Mo., sister, Virginia Meyers of Ft. Worth, Texas, five grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother.

Vera I. Pearce, 96, of Atlanta, died Wednesday evening, Feb. 9, 1994, at Good Samaritan Village in Winfield. Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Miles Funeral Services, Winfield. Burial will be in Mt. Vernon Cemetery.
She was born Oct. 30, 1897, north of Burden, the daughter of Bert and Mattie Compton Smith, and graduated from Winfield High School in 1915. She received a teaching certificate from Pittsburg State Teacher's College and taught school several years in the Prairie View Community near Atlanta.
On Oct. 18, 1923, she and Oren James Pearce were married and they operated a grocery store in Reece before moving to McPherson and then to Atlanta in 1944. He died April 5, 1971. She was a homemaker and a member of the Atlanta United Methodist Church, Order of the Eastern star and the Progress Club.
Survivors include: son, Dick of El Dorado, two grandchildren, two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother, Miles Smith and a sister, Inez Deterding.

She was born Dec. 4, 1905, in Washington County, the daughter of George and Gertrude Esslinzir Wurtz. On Nov. 20, 1939, she and Henry Perott were married in Clifton. He died in February 1962. she had lived in El Dorado since 1988 after moving from Washington, Kan. where she lived from 1967 to 1988. She was a homemaker and member of the Roman Catholic Church.

She was born June 11, 1918 in Augusta, the daughter of Will and Margaret (Baum) Hunter.

He was born June 12, 1902, in Allison, the son of Frank Pierce Phipps and Carrie E. Mapes. On March 22, 1927, he and Adra Luvern Woods were married in El Dorado. He was retired from the maintenance department at Coleman Manufacturing.

She was born May 29, 1893, on a farm near Towanda, the daughter of Frank and Laura (Cornelius) Newman and attended schools in Butler County. On Aug. 15, 1918, she and Todd Pickrell were married in El Dorado. He died in 1954. She was a retired teacher and a member of the First Baptist Church.

Max L. Pierce, 57, of El Dorado, died Friday afternoon, Feb. 18, 1994, at HCA Wesley Medical Center. Services are 2 p.m. Tuesday at the First United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Union Cemetery, rural Benton.
He was born Sept. 11, 1936, in Belle Plaine, the son of Eugene Holmes and Thelma Elda (Avers) pierce. He graduated from Augusta High school in 1954 and lived in El Dorado since 1986.
On April 21, 1961, he and Gisela Junger were married in Germany where he was serving in the U.S. Army. On April 25, 1986, he and Joni Higgins were married in Miami, Okla. He was an employee consultant for the State of Kansas, attended the First United Methodist Church and was a former member of the Elks Lodge.
Survivors include, wife, Joni, sons, Max Pierce II of Augusta, Thomas Pierce of El Dorado, daughters, Christa cave of Augusta, Stephanie Pierce, Anneliese Pretz, both of Wichita, Heddy Pierce of El Dorado, mother, Thelma Pierce of Augusta, brother, George Pierce of Germantown, MD.; sister, Joyce Daniels of Augusta, two grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father, one brother and one sister.

H. Dean Pippin, 52, of Marion, died Wednesday, April 6, 1994. Services are 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Eastmoor United Methodist Church with pastor Dallas Evans officiating. Burial will be in Marion Cemetery with military honors.
He was born Dec. 15, 1941, in Macon County, Mo., and had lived in Marion since the mid 1960s. He retired after 23 years in the Army National Guard. He was a retired State Farm insurance agent and a former grocer and was a member of the VFW and the American Legion.

He was born march 20, 1909 to Dallas and Olive (Smotherman) Polk. On Aug. 12, 1932, he and Frances Walker were married in Winfield. He was an independent distributor for Mobil Oil Co. and a member of the United Methodist Church.

He was born May 28, 1913, in Carmen, Okla., the son of William Hardy and Ida Belle (Davis) Poulk. He lived in the Oil Hill and El Dorado area and had lived in Owensboro since 1950. He was married to Clara Geisel. She died in 1963.
He was a retired chief clerk in the underground storage for Texas Gas Transmission Corporation and a member of the Seattle Memorial Methodist Church.
Survivors include, brother, Russell Poulk of San Antonio, Texas, sisters, Vivian Barnhart of Houston, Texas, Rogene Lyle of Boulder City, Nev. He was preceded in death by four brothers and one sister.

He was born Nov. 11, 1918, in Atlanta, to Ernest L. and Florence Mae Barnes Price. On April 9, 1949, he and Bonnie Brown were married in Bentonville, Ark. He was a retired real estate broker and an independent oil producer and farmer. His memberships include the Douglass American Legion and the V. F. W.

He was born Sept. 28, 1920, in Valley Center, the son of Jerry and Vida Nichols Purkey. He moved to El Dorado from Wichita 10 years ago and had also lived in Fall River. He worked for Boeing Wichita as a machinist for 31 years and was a member of the Riverlawn Christian church in Wichita.
On Aug. 7, 1962, he and Virginia Stevenson Heider were married in Miami, Okla.
Survivors include: wife, Virginia, daughter, Joyce Crumrine, of El Dorado, brothers, Donald, Victor, both of Valley Center, Max of Wichita, five grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother.

She was born April 16, 1900, in Wilson City, Tenn., the daughter of Grandison and Eugenia Lewis Huddleston. She was a homemaker and had lived in El Dorado since 1986 when she moved from Neal where she had lived since 1961. She was a member of the Baptist Church in Eureka.
On Nov. 19, 1918, she and Henry Franklin Pursell were married in Southside, Tenn. He died Aug. 22, 1979.
Survivors include: son, Henry of El Dorado, daughters, Mary Kiser, Christine Lawyer, both of Wichita, nine grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, one brother and one granddaughter. (El Dorado Times, Sept. 8, 1994)
