J., Mrs. J. B. Schmidt, Mrs. L. O. Harms and Jacob. Burial was in Gnadenberg Church. (Independent, April 24, 1947)

PENNER, JOHN D.
Died April 5, John D. Penner, son of Henry and Margaret Penner. Married to Elizabeth Quiring. 2nd wife was Augusta Janzen and he was the father of three children. John remarried a 3rd time to Wilhelmina Eichorn. Burial was in Emmaus Cemetery. (Independent, April 11, 1929)

Died July 5, Joseph L. Penner in Wichita, Kansas. Survived by parents, Mr. and Mrs. P. C. Penner, sisters, Mrs. Linds Unruh and Lilliian Penner and brothers: Erwin, Oliver, Wesley and Roy Penner. Burial was in Mission Cemetery. (Independent, July 11, 1946)

Died February 4, Mrs. Marie (Dyck) Penner. Married first to Dietrich Claassen, 2nd to Rudolph Penner and mother of four children total. Survived by husband and two children: Kurt H. and Erna Penner. Burial was in Emmaus Cemetery. (Independent, February 9, 1933)

Died June 9, at the Allen Memorial hospital in El Dorado, Kansas. Survived by brothers: Otto and John Penner and sister, Martha Steiner. Funeral services held in Emmaus church. (Independent, June 19, 1941)

Died August 30, Otto Andrew Penner, at the home of sister and brother-in-law, Carl Steiner. Survived by brother, John Penner and sister, Martha Steiner. Burial was in Emmaus Cemetery. (Independent, September 10, 1942)

PENNER, P. W. MRS.
Died November 3, Mrs. P. W. Penner, in Bethel hospital at Newton. She was well known in the Whitewater vicinity and had spent 40 years as a missionary in India. Burial was in Hillsboro Cemetery. (Independent, November 9, 1961)

Died September 21, Ms. Bertha May (Constant) Van Meter, at North Hollywood, CA. She was a younger sister of A. H. Penner. (Independent, September 27, 1956)

Died October 3, Dr. Peter Abraham Penner, retired missionary and minister of the Mennonite Church at the Bethel Deaconess hospital, Newton, Kansas. He leaves his wife, one daughter and two grandchildren. (Independent, October 6, 1949)

Died March 11, L. H. Pershing. In 1875 with his parents he came to Kansas and lived in Whitewater until 1888, then moved to Newton, Kansas. Married for Ada Johnson and father of four children. He remarried a second time to Jessie McLaughlin. (Independent, March 22, 1923)

PERSYN, ELSIE VIOLA
Died October 11, Mrs. Elsie Viola (Woolery) Persyn, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. M. M. Woolery, at her home near Mulvane, Kansas. She was married to Elzie Persn. Survived by husband, son, Ronald, three sisters, Mrs. Howard Smith, Mrs. Austin Dolaney and Emma Woolery. (Independent, October 27, 1932)
