McDANIELS, AURELIA ALTICE DOLCH

DERBY - McDaniels, Aurelia Altice Dolch, 87, of Derby, formerly of Rose Hill and Douglass. Mrs. McDaniels was born Dec. 23, 1945 in Grady County, OK. to Butler and Emaline Dolch, both deceased; she died peacefully at home April 1, 2003. Survived by sisters, Loretta Bell, Wichita, Dortha Brinkley and brother-in-law, Johnny, Grady County, OK; brother, Ben Dolch, Grady County, OK; daughter, Ann and son-in-law, Jim Burton, Wichita; son, Garvin and daughter-in-law, Mary Lou of Butler County; Joyce Johnson McDaniels, daughter -in-law, Buffalo, NY; grandchildren, Todd McDaniels, Allen Wise, Glen Wise, Doris McClendon; five great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by her husband, James in 1997 after over 60 years of marriage, and her son, Ellis in 1999. Aurelia realized her dream in 1963 when she graduated from Wichita State University with a Bachelor's Degree in secondary education and she embarked on an illustrious career as a high school math and science teacher. A pioneer as a female math and science teacher, she taught at Derby High, Lenora High, Oxford High, and in the Wichita system, retiring in 1986. She continued to substitute teach until 1992 and remained active in the Derby Retired Teachers' Association, and frequented the Derby Senior Center where she participated in numerous social activities with longtime friends. Aurelia's affinity for Wichita State did not end with her graduation. Both of her sons were awarded WSU Bachelor's degrees; her daughters-in-law received WSU degrees - Joyce a Bachelor's and Mary Lou a Master's; her grandson, Allen and nephew, Rodney are WSU graduates. Aurelia began a family tradition that has spanned three generations and produced seven degrees, an enviable record of which she was proud. retirement did not mean quitting to Aurelia. For several years she served as a substitute teacher at Derby High and a tutor for several Derby youth. Hundreds of Kansas parents can be thankful to Aurelia for the positive influences she had on their children. Visitation 1 to 8 pm. Sunday; service 11 a.m. Monday, both at Smith Mortuary.

Mr. Rouch was born on Aug. 17, 1932 in Ponca City, Okla. to John and Lottie (Fike) Rouch. He attended school in the Newkirk, Okla. and Ponca City, Okla. area, graduating from Ponca City. He served in the Korean conflict with the Thunderbirds. He retired from Boeing Wichita in 1994.

Preceded in death by parents; brothers, Johnny Lee, Bobby Neal Rouch.

SMITH, FRANK A.

ROSE HILL - Smith, Frank A., 75, retired Boeing superintendent of Transpor tation, Material Handling, and automotive maintenance, died Jan. 27, 2006. Private family services have been held. Mr. Smith was born Jan. 8, 1931 on a farm 2 miles South and

3/4miles East of Rose Hill. He attended Rose Hill Public School Sept. of 1936 through May of 1948. He was the third child of Olof and Agnes (Mitchell) Smith. He worked on the farm for his father until he was 18 years old. Mr. Smith went to work for the Boeing Airplane Company from Jan. 26, 1949 in the Transportation Department as a Parts and Material Handler. He was promoted into management in Nov. of 1952 and spent over 36 years in the management position before his retirement on Jan. 31, 1989. He attended Wichita Universi ty from 1957 through 1970 accumulating 56 credit hours in the Field of Business Administration while working full time for the Boeing Company. Mr. Smith was actively involved in Babe Ruth League Baseball, in Rose Hill from 1961 until 1977. He served two terms as a member of the Rose Hill USD 394 Board of Education, ending in the late 1970's. Mr. Smith had no religious affiliations. He is survived by his wife, Levita Smith, Wichita; sons and daughter-in-law, Gary & Becky Smith, Terry Smith, all of Rose Hill, Steve Smith, Rick Smith, both of Wichita; grandchildren, Mike and Della Smith, Rose Hill; sister, Zerita Sapp, Rose Hill; sister-in-law, Mary Smith of Rose Hill.
