Services were held March 11 at the Parsons Funeral Home at Anthony.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Broadway Mortuary in Wichita with burial at 2 p.m. at the Hamilton (Kan.) Cemetery.

Margaret Valerie (Stone) Skelton, 94, Augusta, passed away on Sunday, Feb. 11, 2007.
Viewing will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 15, at Headley Funeral Chapel, Augusta, and from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 20, at Reeder Davis Schindler Funeral Home in Linden, Texas.
Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 16, at First Southern Baptist Church in Augusta. Burial will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 21, at New Colony Cemetery in Linden, Texas.
Mrs. Skelton was born in Cass County, Texas on Dec. 22, 1912, the daughter of the late Charles Clem and Hettie Minnis (Frazier) Stone.
On Dec. 25, 1935, she married the late James Robert Skelton in Linden. She was a teacher in Cass County rural schools in the 30's, joined Delta Kappa Gamma Society, Alpha Upsilon Chapter in Dec. 1936.
She is survived by: daughter, Carolyn Mikish and her husband, Richard of Augusta; sister, Charlie Dell (Stone) Whatley; sister-in-law, Althara (Skelton) McDuffie; brother-in-law, John Harold Skelton, all of Linden, Texas; granddaughter, Melynnie Williams and husband, Tom of Newton, and Cathy Ryan of Andover; grandchildren, Zach Boucher and his wife Michelle, Chelsea, Caitlyn and Chandler Williams; one great great-grandson, Dylan Scott Boucher; a host of nieces and nephews.
Memorials to the First Southern Baptist Church in Augusta, or New Colony Baptist Church Cemetery in Linden, Texas.

Elsie Fern Sphar, 82, of Leon, died Wednesday at the Mid America Nursing Center.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Leon Christian Church with the Rev. Vernon Frantz of Leon and the Rev. Art Wilson of Burden officiating. Burial will be in the Mt. Vernon Cemetery, northeast of Burden.
Mrs. Sphar was born Dec. 5, 1896, near Burden, the daughter of Adam and Hannah Simon. She married George L. Sphar on June 3, 1919 at Winfield. She was a member of the Methodist Church and of an Extension Homemaker Unit.
Survivors are her husband of the home; a son, George R. of rural Leon, three daughters, Mrs. Luella F. Fench of Athens, Ill., Mrs. Dorothy Flattery of Leon and Mrs. Phyllis Kinglsey of Leon, 12 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Waunita Stareck, 98, Benton, died on Thursday, Feb. 15.
Graveside service was held this morning at the Benton Cemetery.
She was born on Jan. 16, 1909 in Furley, the daughter of Samuel and Mable (Ocker) Osmon. She lived in Oklahoma as a child. Waunita married Leon F. Stareck on July 6, 1927, and they lived in rural Benton for over 60 years. She spent 11 years in Augusta and the last six years at Lakepoint Nursing Center in El Dorado. She was a member of the Benton Christian Church and V.F.W. auxiliary.
Her survivors include: sons and daughters-in-law, Eldon and Mary Frances Stareck of Benton and Ray and Judy Stareck of Garden City; sisters, Virgalene Lance, Grand Junction, Colo. and Iola Griffin, Atchison; grandchildren, Ralph Cecil Stareck of Augusta, Cathy Linaweaver of Clever, Mo., Debbie Lucas of El Dorado, Larry Stareck of Wasilla, Ark., and Dave Stareck of Benton; five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Leon; brothers, Clarence, Everett, Sam and Mark; a sister, Maydene Van Arsdale.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials in her memory for the Salvation Army.

Norma J. Stevens, 79, Douglass, president of Stevens Lumber, died Sunday, Feb. 25, 2007.
Visitation until 8 p.m. this evening, and from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Wednesday, at Hilyard-Smith Funeral Home in Douglass.
Memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday at the First Christian Church in Douglass.

Mrs. Catharine Sturges, 62, of Leon, died January 11 at the Susan B. Allen Memorial Hospital.
Services were held Saturday morning at the Bluestem High School auditorium at Leon and Saturday afternoon at the Graves Baird Chapel in Sedan with burial in the Rose Dale Cemetery at Hewins.
Mrs. Sturges was born Feb. 28, 1915 at Hewins, the daughter of George Church and Lucy Howe. She was a resident of Sedan until 1966 when she moved to Leon. She married Charles L. Sturges Sept. 13, 1935, at Sedan and he died Dec. 19, 1976. She was a schoolteacher at Leon and was a member of the First United Methodist Church at Leon and the Order of Eastern Star at Sedan.
Survivors are a daughter, Mrs. Van (Letty) Pinckard of Fairfield, Calif., four sons, John of Salem, Ore., George of the U.S. Navy at Key West, Fla., Herb of Wichita and Darrell of Russell, two sisters, Mrs. Lucinda Evans of Wellington and Mrs. Ruth Bloxom of Pratt and 20 grandchildren.

Jackie "Jack" Charles Swigert, 51, passed away, Friday, Feb. 23, 2007.

Funeral service at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 27, at Community Crossroads Church. Interment at Kuster Cemetery, Augusta.
Survivors: brother, Don Swigert, Wichita; nieces, Megan Miller and Brenna Miller, nephew, Joshua Swigert; five great-nieces and nephews.
