THELMA JOHNSON KILLED IN CRASH


Funeral arrangements are pending with the Dunsford Funeral Home today, for the funeral service of Thelma T. Johnson who lived at 442 Broadway with her husband Lloyd.

Mrs. Johnson was killed Sunday morning about 4 a.m. when her vehicle was struck by another car about five miles southwest of Augusta on Thunder Road.

Authorities said Mrs. John's car was westbound on Thunder Road and stopped at a stop sign. The other car, driven by Raymond Jones, 21, of Gamerco, N. M. was headed in the opposite direction and crashed into the left side of her car.

Jones and a passenger in his car, Glen Tsosie, of Crown Point, N. M., were not seriously injured.

Mrs. Johnson was out delivering newspapers Sunday morning.

Her survivors include: her husband, Lloyd; two sons, Gilbert of Augusta and Clifford of Yakota AFB, Japan; one brother, Leslie Craig of Calhoun, Colorado; one sister, Mildred Allen of Colorado Springs, Colo.

CHARGES FILED IN CAR CRASH OF MRS. THELMA JOHNSON


Charges have been filed against a New Mexico man in the car crash which resulted in the death of an Augusta woman early Sunday morning.

Raymond Jones, Gamerco, New Mexico, has been charged with involuntary manslaughter and DWI. A plea of innocent has been entered on the DWI charge. His plea on the other charge is expected at his next court appearance set for Nov. 13.

Thelma T. Johnson, 54, was killed about 4 a.m. Sunday as she was delivering newspapers southwest of Augusta. Her car and the Johnson vehicle collided near the intersection of Thunder Road and Santa Fe Lake Road.

JOHNSON RITES ARE SET FOR FRIDAY AT TWO

Funeral services have been set for 2:00 Friday afternoon in the Dunsford Chapel for Mrs. Thelma Pearl Johnson, who died Sunday morning southwest of Augusta in an auto accident. She was 54.

She was born April 8, 1921 in Timpes, Colorado. Her parents were Floyd Craig and Lottie Caldwell.

On June 25, 1939 she married Lloyd V. Johnson at Camp Houston, Freedom, Oklahoma. He is still living in their home at 442 Broadway.

Her survivors include: her husband, Lloyd; two sons, Gilbert of Augusta, and Clifford L. of Yokota AFB, Japan; one brother, leslie Craig of Calahan, Colorado; one sister, Mrs. Mildred Allen of Colorado Springs, Colorado; and six grandchildren.

The Rev. Frank McKinley will be in charge of Friday's service. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, southwest of Augusta.
