Services have been held for George Elton Tate, 73, of Oklahoma City, formerly of El Dorado, who died March 23, 1994.
He was born June 20, 1920, to George A. and Ollie Mae Tate, and graduated from El Dorado High School in 1942. He and Glenna Lytle were married in 1945. In 1946, he opened Tate Brothers Paint and Wallpaper Company. He moved to Oklahoma City where he opened Tate Brothers Auto Refinishing and later started Tate's Hardware and appliance which he operated until his retirement.
He was a member of Linwood Methodist Church, the Order of De Molay and received the Degree of Chevalier, and was past president of the Mayfair Kiwanis Club.
Survivors include: daughters, Janice Waldrop, Suzanne Tate, both of Oklahoma City, sisters, Zelphia Brickley of Denver, Colo. Reatha Putzke of Oklahoma City, brothers, Merlin Tate of Hot Springs, AR, Verlin Tate of Sun City, AZ; one grandson. Pamela Sue Taylor, 31, of Thornton, Colo., formerly of El Dorado, died Wednesday, Jan. 5, 1994 at her home. Services are 11 a.m. Saturday at Carlson's Funeral Home. Burial will be in Sunset Lawns Cemetery.
She was born June 11, 1962, in Hill City, to Robert E. and Lola I. Brown Taylor. She lived in Oklahoma for three years and spent the rest of her life in Colorado.
Survivors include: father, Robert Taylor of El Dorado, mother, Lola Taylor of Thornton; brothers, Robert E. Taylor II of El Dorado, Shawn Taylor of Kailua, Hawaii, grandparents, Emma Taylor Shellenberger of El Dorado, John and Stella Brown of Hoxie.

Alva H. "Pete" Teter, 80, of Hesston, died Wednesday evening, June 15, 1994, at Halstead Hospital. Services will be 2 p.m. Monday at Carlson Funeral Home. Burial will be in Belle Vista Cemetery, El Dorado. Rev. Stan Seymour will officiate the services.
He was born Sept. 7, 1913, in rural El Dorado, the son of John Jr. and Elsie Faye Bandy Teter. He had lived most of his life in the El Dorado area and had lived the last five years in Hesston. He was a farmer and rancher and a former member of the Elks Lodge.
On Aug. 10, 1940, he and Willene Day were married in Winfield. She died Sept. 20, 1960. On July 28, 1969, he and Rutha Spinden were married in El Dorado.
Survivors include: wife, Rutha, son Chalmers Spinden of El Dorado, daughters, Rebecca Demo, Rhonda Fooshee, both of El Dorado, Sharon White, Karen Spinden both of Hesston, brother, Charles of El Dorado, sister, Cleo Anderson of Douglass, 13 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents.

She was born June 28, 1914, in Rosalia, the daughter of William Wilhelm and Flora Jane Moyer Ehrlich and lived in El Dorado most of her life. She was a homemaker and a member of Prospect Baptist Church.
In 1934, she and Arthur David Thomas were married in El Dorado. He died in 1968.
Survivors include: sons, Bill, Lloyd, both of El Dorado, Don of Wellington, David of Winfield, daughter, Alice Wilson of Winfield, sister, Nellie Obenshine of Noel, Mo.; 26 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, five brothers and four sisters.

Barbara J. Brown Unruh Thompson, 66, Wichita, died Saturday, Sept. 3.
A memorial services will be at 4 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 7, in West Heights United Methodist Church, 745 Westlink, in Wichita, with Rev. Ken Hathaway officiating. A private burial service will be at Elmwood Cemetery.
She was born on March 22, 1928 in Bloomington as the daughter of Leonard R. and Jessie Berger Brown.
On March, 21, 1992, she married Charles Thompson in Wichita. He survives.
She was a member of the West Heights United Methodist Church, the Women's Golf Association, McIntosh Computer Club, and was a YMCA Volunteer.
In addition to her husband the retired Wichita Public Schools elementary school music teacher is survived by a son, Bruce Unruh of Wichita; a daughter, Cheryl Semmler of Grosse Pointe, Mich.; her mother, Jessie Brown, step-sons, Phil Thompson, Victor Thompson, all of Wichita; step-daughter, Traci Duncan, Atlanta, Ga.; two brothers, Sidney Brown of Norman, Okla., Stanley Brown of Doylestown, Pa.; three grandchildren and two step grandchildren.
A memorial has been established with the West Heights United Methodist Church. Barbara J. Unruh Thompson Building Fund Memorial.

She was born June 17, 1912, in Hinton, Okla., the daughter of Finley Clarence and Fannie Lee Atcheson Temple. She married Terry Thompson on June 1, 1932 at Guthrie, Okla. He proceded her in death on May 1, 1990. She had made her home in El Dorado since 1940. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, P.E.O. and the Wednesday Book club.
Survivors include: brother, Lester Temple of Rantoul, Ill., sister, Leona Watkins of El Dorado, one niece; two nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, and two nephews.
Memorials have been established with the First United Methodist Church or Bradford Memorial Library.

Clara Catherine (Marcum) Thorburn, 81, of Florence, died Tuesday, Jan. 18, 1994, at Marion Manor Nursing Home. Services are 10 a.m. Thursday at Zeiner Funeral Home with George Peterson and Berlin Raymond officiating. Burial will be in Inlow Cemetery, Russelville, Mo.
She was born Nov. 4, 1912, in Leon and moved to Florence in March 1993. She was a homemaker and a member of the Non Denominational Christian Church.
Survivors include: son, Melvin of Thornfield, Mo., daughters Neomia Peterson of Chino, Calif., Thelma Luallen of Florence, brother, Francis Marcum of Fulton, Mo., sisters, Loraina Long of Jefferson City, Mo., Anna Mae Long, of Reno, Nev., 10 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her husband Charles L. Thornburn in 1978.

Marion George Travnichek, 43, of El Dorado, died Sunday, Sept. 25, 1994 at a VA Hospital in Des Moines, Iowa. Services will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Carlson Funeral Home. Burial will be in Walnut Valley Memorial Park.
He was born Sept. 14, 1951 in El Dorado the son of George Vinson and Martha Arp Travnichek, and lived most of his life in El Dorado. He served in the U.S. Army for 11 months during the Vietnam War. He was employed at Boeing Aircraft.
Survivors include: mother, Martha Travnichek of El Dorado, brothers, Lewis Duncan, Charles Bob Duncan, both of El Dorado, Raymond Keplar of Centrailia, Mo., sister, Peggy Johnson of El Dorado, several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father.

Services for Marion George Travnichek, 43, of El Dorado, were held Thursday afternoon at Carlson Funeral Home. Burial was in Walnut Valley Memorial Park. He died Sunday, Sept. 25, 1994.
The Rev. Rick McNary officiated at the services. Organist Jean Plummer played the prelude and postlude. "Goin Home" was played during the service. Maxine Keplar sang "How Great Thou Art."
Casket bearers were Craig Duncan, Rusty Johnson, Ross Johnson, Scott Wischropp, Paul Travnichek, and Richard Marcum.

Mae Trussell, 91, of El Dorado, died Sunday, Nov. 20, 1994 at Susan B. Allen Hospital. Services are 1 p.m. Wednesday at Carlson Funeral Home. Burial will be in Homestead Cemetery, Wansaveu.
She was born July 4, 1903, in Cedar Point, the daughter of Jesse and Julia Schrumf Crissup. On Jan. 7, 1924, she and Lloyd Arthur "Sco" Trussell were married in Cottonwood Falls. He died in 1973. She moved to El Dorado from Clement 18 years ago. She was a homemaker and had worked at Parks Variety store in Cottonwood Falls and she was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church.
Survivors include: son, Robert of Elko, Minn.; daughter, Elva Rosebraugh of Rosalia, five grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, an infant son, one brother, two sisters, and one grandson.

Virginia Scott Turner, 82, formerly of El Dorado, died at her home in Wichita, Wednesday, October 11, 1994. She was a longtime worker nationally for Delta Delta Delta Social Sorority.
She was born Dec. 23, 1911 in El Dorado to Lee and Lida Lou Sheldon Scott. Mrs. Turner was a descendant of a pioneer El Dorado newspaper family, the granddaughter of Alvah and Mary Lamb Sheldon. Her parents moved the family to Wichita where the oil business took her father following the boom in El Dorado.
She was a former tennis champion at the Wichita Country Club and her brother Sheldon was a golf champion there which garnered him national recognition in the 1930's.
She married Floyd Turner of El Dorado in 1935. He preceded her in death on Dec. 19, 1993. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Shelden and Jamie Scott.
Survivors include two sons, Scott Turner of Greeley, Colo., and Michael Turner of Derby, one daughter, Linda Farner of Mesa, Ariz; seven grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews still living in El Dorado.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 15, at Plymouth Home, the Tri Psi Scholarship Foundation and Hospice Inc. Downing & Lahey Mortuary in Wichita is handling the arrangements. (El Dorado Times, Oct. 13, 1994)
Stephen Charles "Steve" Tuttle, 90, of Benton, retired chief experimental test pilot for Beech Aircraft Corp., died Tuesday, June 21, 1994. Services are 11 a.m. Thursday at Downing & Lahey Mortuary.
He was born July 8, 1903, in Cedar Bluffs, the son of George E. and Emma Tuttle.
Survivors include; daughters Beulah Fagan of Mulvane, Donna Hampton of Wichita, Sandra Heinlein of Benton, Karen Atkins of Towanda, 21 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren.
