VAIL, MILDRED (MILLIE) DAWSON

Mildred (Millie) Dawson Vail, 71, of El Dorado died Wednesday evening, Sept. 31, 1994 at Susan B. Allen Memorial Hospital.

Funeral services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday at the Kirby-Morris Funeral Home. Burial will follow the services in Walnut Valley Memorial Park cemetery.

Mrs. Vail was born March 15, 1923, the daughter of Franklin and Ella Ester (Whinery) McCulloch. She had lived in the Butler County area most of her life.

On Sep. 17, 1948 she was married to Floyd P. Dawson in El Dorado. He preceded her in death.

On June 15, 1979 she was married to Claude M. Vail in El Dorado.

For many years Mrs. Vail served Butler County in various capacities. She was the deputy registrar of deeds, a clerk in the County clerk’s office and later served both the probate and district courts.

In 1981 she retired after 30 years of service.

Surviving family include her husband, Claude of the home, one daughter, Dena Dawson Elliott of Wichita, one sister, Martha Morrow of El Dorado; five stepchildren, Kevin Vail of Beaumont, Ronald and Mark Vail both of El Dorado, Deloris Phillips of El Dorado and Patricia Evans of Chandler, Ariz., and two grandchildren and 11 step-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother.

A memorial has been established with the Bradford Memorial Library. Contributions may be left with the Kirby-Morris Funeral Home, who has charge of the arrangements. (El Dorado Times, Sep. 1, 1994)

VANBUSKIRK, JACK R.

Jack R. Van Buskirk, 91, of Howard, retired automobile mechanic, died Tuesday, April 19, 1994. Services are 10 a.m. Friday in Grace Lawn Cemetery with Rev. Ted Davis and Rev. Chuck Evans officiating.

He was born Sept. 19, 1902, in Howard to John Thomas and Ida Mae (Baughman) VanBuskirk. On Aug. 14, 1933, he and Dorothy Alice Emmer Applegate were married in Sedan. She died July 23, 1948.

Survivors include: sons, Garry of El Dorado, Jackie of Peck; daughters, Doris Bateman of Peck, Katherine Mitchell of Howard, Deloris Cline of Augusta, sisters, Alice King of Calbert City, Ky., Ruth Snook of El Dorado, Vera Ferry, Hazel Lanning, Eunice Townsley, all of Howard, 21 grandchildren, 51 great-grandchildren.

VERMILYEA, FEROLD “RODNEY” SR.

Ferold Rodrick “Rodney” Vermilyea Sr., 70, of St. Joseph Mo., formerly of El Dorado and Wichita, died Monday, Nov. 28, 1994. Services were held today at the Christian Church in Hiawatha. Graveside services were held in the Hiawatha (Kan.) cemetery.

He was born Aug. 30, 1924, in Coffeyville, the son of Roy and Connie Boyer Vemilyea. During WWII he served in the Airborne Demolition Squadron. He was an over-the-road trucker and mechanic and worked for three years in the George Myers Quarries in El Dorado.

Survivors include: wife, Lydia, sons, Ferold “Pete” Vemilyea Jr., John Swiastyn, Mike Swiastyn, danny Swiastyn, daughters, Jeanette McCann, Anna Swiastyn, brother, Gerold Vermilyea, sisters, Betty Komp of El Dorado, Helen Duerksen of Wichita, 10 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother.

VINYARD, EDALEEN

Services for Edaleen Vinyard, 72, of Clinton, Okla., were held Tuesday at the First United Methodist Church of Clinton with Rev. Randy Hodgson officiating. Burial was North Oddfellow Cemetery of Marshall with Rev. Merle Pulver officiating. She died Sunday morning, Nov. 6, 1994.

She was born June 29, 1922 in Garfield County, the daughter of Owen and Ave Nye Phares, and graduated from Covington High school. In 1942, she and Allen Vinyard were married in Enid and in 1963, they moved to Clinton.

She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Clinton and the church choir. She was a homemaker and director of the Clinton Regional Hospital volunteers and retired in 1979.

Survivors include, husband: Allen, son, Jerry of Riverdale, Ga., brother Wilford Phares of El Dorado, two step-grandchildren, one step-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents and a son, Jerry’s twin brother Jim.

VOTH, MELVIN H.

Melvin H. Voth, 76, of Hutchinson, retired Nelson Top and Body employee, died Saturday, July 23, 1994. Services are 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Hutchinson.

Survivors include: wife, Pearl, sons Rodney of Evansville, Wyo., Cidney of Spring valley, Ohio, stepsons, John Hysom of Newton, Roger Hysom of Hutchinson, stepdaughter, Peggy Carlton of Hutchinson, brothers Orlando of Goessel, Bud of Wichita, Clayton of Warner Robins, Ga., Raymond of El Dorado, Bert of Kansas City, Kan., sisters, Myrtle Mohn of Hillsboro, Ruby Funk of Newton, Lillian Brady of Clearwater, Maxine Bolte of Lompoc, Calif., four grandchildren, one great-grandchild.

VOYLES, GERALD D. “JERY”

Gerald D. “Jery” Voyles, 56, of Mansfield, Texas, former Douglass resident, Bell Helicopter tool engineer, died Wednesday, March 9, 1994. Services are 10 a.m. Saturday at First Christian Church.

Survivors include: wife, Connie, sons, Steve of Oxford, Gary of Belle Plaine, daughters, Terri Jessup of Elizabeth, Colo., Kathy Collard of Branson, Mo., mother, Virginia of Augusta, brothers, Larry of Bethalto, Ill., Dennis of El Dorado, sister, Judy Hubbard of Wichita, 14 grandchildren.
