ULLOM, ROY E.
Roy E. Ullom, 90, of El Dorado, died Sunday morning, Oct. 24, 2004, at his home. Services are 2 p.m. Wednesday at Kirby-Morris Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Walnut Valley Memorial Park Cemetery.
He was born June 16, 1914, in manning, W.Va., the son of Edward and Mable Cartwright Ullom. He grew up in El Dorado, Arkansas and Oklahoma and graduated from high school in Oklahoma. He served his country in the Aleutian Island Campaign in the United States Army during World War II. He returned to El Dorado after his marriage to Ruby Spencer on may 24, 1945, in Little Rock, Ark. He was a longtime employee of the Skelly Refinery.
Memberships included the Park Avenue Baptist Church, which he was a charter member; the American Legion Post; the Elks Lodge; and the Moose Lodge. His favorite pastimes were playing golf and fishing with his friends and family.
Survivors include: wife, Ruby, of the home; daughters, Melveen and husband Don Dodson of El Dorado and Janice Overly of Topeka; sister, Maxine Scott of Dallas, Texas; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and three step-great-granddaughters.
He was preceded in death by one son; four brothers; and three sisters.
Memorials have been established with the Park Avenue Baptist Church or Hospice Care of Kansas. Kirby-Morris Funeral Home is assisting the family with the arrangements. (El Dorado Times, October 25, 2004)
Clayton K. Unruh, 83, of El Dorado, died Wednesday, March 2, 2005, at Susan B. Allen Memorial Hospital. Services are 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 5, at the First Baptist Church, El Dorado. Burial will follow in Walnut Valley Memorial Park. The family will receive friends and relatives from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Friday evening at Carlson Funeral Home.
He was born July 28, 1921, in Marion County, the son of Alvin A. and Elda M. (Decker) Unruh. He worked in the oil fields as a truck driver working for Counter Oil Field Trucking. He was a member of the First Christian Church, but was attending the First Baptist Church. He was also a member of the Leon Senior Center. During World War II he served in the U.S. Army from 1942 to 1945.
On Sept. 24, 1947, he married Peggy Kiser in Leon. She preceded him in death on May 5, 1992. He later married Juanita Dean on Dec. 6, 1992, in El Dorado.
Survivors include: wife, Juanita, of the home; son, Steven Unruh of San Diego, Calif.; daughter, Kathleen Dieckhoff of Olathe; step-son, Tom Davey of Denmark, Iowa; step-daughter, Dixie Mauldin of Leon; brothers, Robert Unruh of Benton, Cleason W. Unruh of Wilsonville, Ore., and James Unruh of Canton; sisters, Marjorie Sandwell of Marion and Ann Minear of South Bend, Ind.; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Memorials in his memory for the First Baptist Church or the Leon Senior Center may be left at Carlson Funeral Home where friends may call. (El Dorado Times, March 3, 2005)
Grace Joy Unruh, 95, of Wichita, died on Tuesday, March 9, 2010 at the Eureka Nursing Center. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Walnut Valley Memorial Park.
She was born on Dec. 2, 1914 in Rosalia, the daughter of Richard Roy and Cora Belle (Metcalfe) Abraham. She was married to Ernest Dunning in 1933 at her parents home in Rosalia. He died in 1937. She was later married to Arthur L. Unruh on Dec. 7, 1947 in El Dorado. They came to Wichita in 1990 from Arkansas where they moved in 1979 from El Dorado. She was a homemaker and had worked outside of the home both at Boeing Wichita and Cessna Aircraft. She was a member of First Christian Church.
Those she leaves are: her husband, Art of the home; a son, Ernest "Lee" Dunning of Kerrville, Texas; a sister, Mary Ellen Folter of Hemphill, Texas; four grandchildren; and a number of great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Joan Joy Gibbs; and a brother, Robert Abraham.

Ida E. Unruh, 77, former Boeing Wichita employee and nurse's aide, died Wednesday, June 26, 1991. Service 10 a.m. Saturday, Walnut Valley Memorial Park, El Dorado.
Survivors: sons, Darl E. Pearce of Wichita, Richard D. Pearce of Detroit; daughters, Marlene Handley of Mabank, Texas, Linda L. Unruh, Peggy L. (Kiser), 64, Avon sales representative, died Tuesday, May 5, 1992. Service 2:30 p.m. Saturday, First Christian Church.

Eugene, Ore.; daughter, Kathy Dieckhoff of Emporia; brother, Cash Kiser of Whitewater; three grandchildren. Memorials
have been established with First Christian Church and the American Heart Association. Lamb-Nutter Mortuary, Whitewater.
