Vampran, Crystal M. (Willis), 22, Creative Community Living teacher and counselor, died Tuesday, March 13, 2001. Visitation with family 6 to 7:30 p.m. today; service 10 a.m. Friday, both at Carlson Funeral Home.

VARBLE, JOHN L.

JOHN L. VARBLE, 63, of Wichita, Ritchie Paving leadman, died Saturday, Aug. 6, 1988. Service 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Carlson Funeral Home, El Dorado.

Survivors: wife, Rowena; sons, Michael Wade Varble of Houston, Randy Hale, Ritchie Hale, both of Wichita; daughters, Donella Oldham of Houston, Anita Jackson of Wellington, Teresa Lynn of El Dorado; eight grandchildren. VARNER, VICTOR V.

Victor V. Varner, 78, retired Skelly Refinery employee, died Saturday, Oct. 6, 1990. Service 2 p.m. Monday, Carlson Funeral Home.

Survivors: daughters, Vickey L. Miller, Caroline S. Mitchell, both of El Dorado; sister, Lillian Stuckey of Kingman; six grandchildren; five great- grandchildren. Memorial has been established with National Jewish Center for Respiratory Medicine, Denver. (Wichita Eagle, October 7, 1990, page 2B)

VERNE, MARSHA LYNN

Marsha Lynn King Verne, daughter of Mrs. Doris King Santee and the late Sam King, passed away May 18, 2005, at Saint Francis Hospital in Topeka, after a short illness.

Marsha is survived by her husband, Thomas; three sons, William, Jarred and Brett; five grandchildren, Sharissa, Johnathan, Brena, Hannah and Karisa; and a brother, Brad King.

There will be a graveside service May 31 for the immediate family. (El Dorado Times, May 19, 2005)

VESTRING, DOROTHY LOUISE

Dorothy Louise Vestring, 93, of Emporia and formerly of El Dorado died Wednesday, June 11, 2003, at the Emporia Rehabilitation Center.

Mrs. Vestring was a bookkeeper for several oil companies in the El Dorado area. She helped in the creation of the Butler County Oil Museum and during World War II helped at the Catholic orphanage in El Dorado.

Dorothy Louise Welsh, the daughter of Lon and Miriam Watts Welsh, was born March 26, 1910, in Manhattan. She grew up and attended schools in Oklahoma and El Dorado. She moved from Oklahoma to El Dorado in 1924. She attended Butler County Community College the first year it opened; she graduated with a degree in bookkeeping.

Mrs. Vestring was a member of Desk and Derrick.

She is survived by two nieces, Joyce Armitage of Eureka and Lois Snyder of Clovis, N.M.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. Friday in St. John's Catholic Church at El Dorado, after a recitation of the rosary at 10 a.m. Burial will be in Walnut Valley Memorial Park Cemetery, also at El Dorado.

VALLANDINGHAM, CLAYTON

Services for Clayton Vallandingham of 319 North Ohio who died May 11, were held Saturday afternoon at the Dietz-Carlson Colonial Chapel with burial in Walnut Valley Memorial Park.

The Rev. Donald McCracken, pastor of the First Baptist Church, officiated. Mrs. Amos B. Marsh played organ music during the prelude and postlude and during the service "How Great Thou Art," and "Beyond the Sunset."

Casket bearers were Larry hartshorn, Clay Riley, Frank Lockard, Richard Gregory, Robert Mccauley and Lyman Nace. (El Dorado Times, May 18, 1977)

VAUGHT, C. B.

C. B. Vaught, 77, of El Dorado, died Friday November 15, 2002, in Burleson, Texas. Services are 1 p.m. Wednesday at the First Baptist Church of El Dorado. Interment will follow in Walnut Valley Memorial Park Cemetery.

He was born Nov. 8, 1925, in Cartersville, Okla., one of five children of Charlie Silas and Grace (Wright) Vaught. He grew up in Keota, Okla., and graduated from Keota High School in 1943. He served his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was in the Africian, Asian and European Theaters. After the war he returned to Oklahoma and attended Oklahoma State. He then started working on oil unites in Oklahoma, Kansas and spent two years working in the oil fields in Venezuela. He returned to Oklahoma and earned a Bachelor's degree in education at Northeastern College. He was united in marrige to Geraldine Franklin on March 2, 1956 at the First Baptist Church in El Dorado. she preceded him in death in August 1977. They resided in El Dorado where C. B. started working for the El Dorado school system in the fall of 1956. Later he attended Pittsburg State University where he obtained his Master's Degree in 1968. He was a teacher in El Dorado for over 31 years before retiring in 1987.

He was a member of the First Baptist Church for 47 years. He also was a member of the American Legion Capt. Edgar Dale Post 81 for 17 years. He was very active with his children. he enjoyed taking them hunting, fishing, attending their sports activities and giving encouraging advice to them on how to play the game. He also had a real passion for trees. He was always planting a tree or a bush, or what ever needed to be planted. He also loved to read.

Survivors include: sons, Chuck and wife Mary Helen Vaught of Burleson, Texas, Jim and wife Raye Ann Vaught of Cassoday and John and his wife Kathee Vaught of El Dorado; daughter, Susan and husband Glenn Bailty of Ingalls, brother, Billy Vaught of Wagner, Okla., sisters, Oleta LaNaire of Oklahoma City, Okla., and seven grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Gerald Vaught and one sister, Anita Benham.

Memorials have been established with the American Legion Post 81 baseball team or Bradford Memorial Library. Contributions may be left with Kirby-Morris Funeral Home who has charge or arrangements. (El Dorado Times, November 18, 2007)
