Ethel May Williams, 71, of El Dorado, died Wednesday, Aug. 8, at Susan B. Allen Memorial Hospital. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Aug. 10, at Carlson Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Walnut Valley Memorial Park.
She was born May 21, 1930 to Stephen Luther and Helen Elizabeth (Garabrandt) Scott in El Dorado. She lived in El Dorado for many years and was a homemaker. She was a member of the V. F. W. Auxiliary and Order of the Eastern Star; had been a Scout leader, and worked in the P. T. O. at Skelly School.
On April 10, 1967 she was married to Marion "Bud" Williams at El Dorado. He preceded her in death on Aug. 30, 1990.
Survivors include her longtime companion, Ed Ingersoll of the home; sons, Frank Williams of El Dorado and Donald Callaway of Florida; a daughter, Helen K. Verrino of Tucson, Ariz.; a brother, Lloyd Scott of El Dorado, six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents and an aunt, Hazel Bishop.

Beverly Ann Wilson, 64, of El Dorado, died Monday, July 1, 2002 at Kansas Christian Home in Newton. Services are 10 a.m. Saturday at the First Christian Church. Interment will follow in Walnut Valley Memorial Park Cemetery.
She was born June 9, 1938 in El Dorado, the daughter of Raymond and Martha (Elliott) Tarrant. She was a 1956 graduate of El Dorado High School. She was united in marriage to Richard Kent Wilson on Aug. 4, 1957 in El Dorado. She had lived all of her life in El Dorado. She was a homemaker and led the Out Reach program at Bradford Memorial Library. Memberships include the First Christian Church, President and Circle Leader of the Christian Women's Fellowship, Mid-Cap Treasurer and Kansas Laureate Alpha Eta Sorority. She was very active in the church. She was also involved with the Four Winds Girl Scouts organization. She was a scout leader, office manager of the Augusta offices and a life-time member. She loved to needlepoint and read. Another favorite past time was spending time in her flower garden.
Survivors include: husband, Richard of the home, son and daughter-in-law, Steven and Dolly Wilson of El Dorado; daughter and son-in-law, Debbie and Rex Stephens of Benton, aunt Bernice Tarrant of Wichita, three grandchildren, Cale Stephens, Cain Stephens, and Samantha Wilson; and great-granddaughter, Cadi Stephens.

Juday A. "Ellis" Wilson, 55, of El Dorado, died Friday, Sept. 14, 2001 at Wichita. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Walnut Valley Memorial Park.
She was born Aug. 23, 1946 to A. L. and Mona (Anderson) Ellis in El Dorado.
On March 16, 1968, she was married to Wayne W. Wilson of The Rosalia area in El Dorado. She was an avid crafter, with expertise in several different mediums. Her favorite love was tole painting which she taught many students over several years. She also sold her crafts at craft shows in four states for about 10 years. She was a member of the Society of Decorative and Tole Painters. She also worked as a hair dresser and legal secretary for several years.
Survivors include: her husband of the home; a son, Michael "Shane" Wilson of Salina, her mother of El Dorado; a foster brother, Wanda Gipson of Hays, two nieces and one nephew.
She was preceded in death by her father and a sister, Karen.

Elmer B. Wisdom, 91, of El Dorado, died Thursday, January 25, 2007 at Susan B. Allen Memorial Hospital. Services are 2 p.m. Monday, January 29, at Carlson Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Walnut Valley Memorial Park.
He was born Oct. 15, 1915 at Long Wolf, Okla., the son of Bert Henry and Lorena (Land) Wisdom. Elmer had lived in El Dorado since 1948 and was manager of the Skelgas Bottling, retiring in 1981. He was a member of the El Dorado Baptist Church and was an avid golfer, bowler and card player.
On Feb. 9, 1935 he married Bernice Bryan at Hobart, Okla. They celebrated 71 years together.
Survivors include: his wife, Bernice of the home; son, Mike Wisdom of Topeka, daughter, Lawana Thompson of El Dorado, sister, Mary Ann Lockard of El Dorado; two grandchildren, Melinda Thompson of Hutchinson and Christine Wisdom of Paola and two great-grandchildren, Angela Wills and Andy Wills both of Hutchinson.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Lee Wisdom, sisters, Margaret Bryan and Burton Barnes; two half-brothers, Bill and Wayne Shropshire and his parents.

Lorran E. Wise, 85, of Wichita and formerly of El Dorado, died March 16, 2006 at his home in Wichita. Services are 2 p.m. Wednesday at Kirby-Morris Funeral Home. Burial will follow the services in Walnut Valley Memorial Park cemetery.
Lorran was born July 27, 1920 in Willard, Okla., the son of Charles Nelson and Alice Phebe (Holer) Wise. He attended schools in Ashland. On Feb. 18, 1950 he was united in marriage to Ruth B. Dunnica in Clayton, N. M. For many years Lorran worked in the Kansas oilfields for Clear Creek Oil Field Company. His work took him to Hugoton, Ellinwood, El Dorado and Wichita. During World War II he served his country in the 467 Bombardment Group. His B24 aircraft was shot down over Switzerland and he was held there until the war was over. He was a member of the Bethany United Methodist Church, the D. A. V. the V. F. W. and the American Legion. Lorran loved to fish and be with his grandchildren.
Survivors include: his wife, Ruth of the home; four sons, J. D. Wise and his wife Vicki of Wichita, Gary Wise and his wife Teresa and Larry Douglas Wise and his wife, Betty, both of El Dorado and Darryl Wise and his wife Raylene of Clearwater, seven grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers and one sister.

Arnetta Jean "Arnie" Wright, 58, of El Dorado, died Saturday, Feb. 14, 2004 at Via Christi St. Francis Hospital in Wichita. Services are 11 a.m. Thursday at the First Baptist Church of El Dorado.
She was born Oct. 12, 1945 in El Dorado, the daughter of Pat and Irene (Hale) Hearrell. She grew up and attended schools in El Dorado. She was united in marriage to John W. Wright on Oct. 23, 1966, in El Dorado. She was an Avon saleslady for over 10 years before retiring to become a "domestic engineer" for her family. She was a member of the First Baptist Church.
he and John ran the Cage during the years of 1975 through 1978. She was a Brownies and Girl Scout Leader for her daughter. She loved to go bowling, crocheting afghans and dolls and stopping to talk to friends no matter where she was. She was known for her Christmas platters of cookies that she gave out all over town.
Survivors include: husband, John of the home, son, Pat Wright and his fiancé Tina of Kingman; daughter, Kathy Owens and Robbyn and her husband Greg Gauthier all of El Dorado, brother, Gary Hearrell of Denver, Colo., sister, Charlene Hogoboom, of El Dorado and 10 grandchildren.

John W. Wright, 63, of El Dorado, died Monday morning, Dec. 19, 2005 at Allen Memorial Hospital. Services are scheduled for 1 p.m. Thursday at the First Baptist Church. Graveside services with police and fire honors will be held at Walnut Valley Memorial Park Cemetery following the services.
John was born June 1, 1942, in Hallsville, Mo., the son of Granville and Lucy May (Twiby) Wright. He moved with his family to El Dorado when he was five years old. He attended schools here and graduated with the class of 1960 from the El Dorado high school. After graduation he joined the U.S. Army and served his country for three years.
In 1965, he joined the El Dorado Fire Department. He then served in the El Dorado Department of Public Safety. He became a Sergeant, a Lieutenant, a Deputy Chief and Chief of the El Dorado Police Department. During his service to his community he attended a number of schools and seminars to help improve law enforcement.
On Oct. 23, 1966 he was united in marriage to Arnetta Hearrell. She preceded him in death on Feb. 14, 2004.
John was a member of the First Baptist Church. He was an artist, a master woodcarver, a fisherman and a gardener. From 1975 until 1978 he managed the Cage for El Dorado youth.
Survivors include: one son, John "Pat" Wright and his wife Tina of Kingman; two daughters, Robbyn Gauthier and her husband Greg and Kathy Owen, both of El Dorado, one sister, Betty Henderson and her husband Pete of El Dorado; and one grandson, Jonathan Wright who John and his wife raised in their home and nine other grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one brother, George and his parents.

Blake H. Wilson, 95, of El Dorado, died Monday, March 26 at Susan B. Allen Memorial Hospital. Services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, March 29, at Kirby-Morris Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Walnut Valley Memorial Park Cemetery.
He was born June 24, 1905 the 12th child of Ben and Calva M. (Holt) Wilson in Rock. He grew up in Winfield on a farm north of town and graduated from Winfield High School.
On Nov. 7, 1923 he was married to Erma F. Miller in El Dorado. They moved to El Dorado in 1928. Erma preceded him in death on March 27, 1977. He was a dairy farmer until retiring in 1959. He then became owner and operator of W. W. Oil Company Service Station. He was a member of the First Christian Church and the Senior Citizens Center. He loved to work in his garden and watch all types of sporting events. He was best known for his competitive play at bridge and dominoes.
Survivors include: a son, Don Wilson of Gravois Mills, Mo., a daughter, Connie Wilson of Harrison, Ark., a daughter-in-law, Marianna Wilson of El Dorado; 14 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Robert B. Wilson; 11 brothers and sisters; and two great-grandchildren.

Serivces for John R. Wilcox, 1418 Cave Springs, who died Feb. 16 were Monday afternoon at the First Christian Church, with burial in Walnut Valley Memorial Park.
The Rev. William Longman, pastor of the church, officiated at the services. Mrs. Amos B. Marsh at the organ played selected music. William Lange sang "Beyond the Sunset" and "How Great Thou Art."

Woodrow H. "Woody" Wilson, 92, of Powtin, died Thursday, Aug. 11, 2005 at Susan B. Allen Memorial Hospital. Services are 10:30 a.m. Monday, Aug. 15, at Potwin United Methodist Church. Burial will follow in Walnut Valley Memorial Park.
He was born Aug. 17, 1912 in Choteau, Okla., the son of Fred W. and Laura K. McFadden Wilson. He lived in Potwin for most of his life and graduated from Potwin High School in 1930 and then attended El Dorado Junior College. Woody worked for Vickers Refinery for 27 years and owned and operated Dode and Woody's Grocery in Potwin for 37 years, serving the people of that area. He was a member of the Potwin United Methodist Church.
He married Delma Clark on March 28, 1937 and she preceded him in death on October 4, 1993. On October 14, 1996, he married Dorothy Sidener Sneilling.
Survivors include: his wife, of the home; step-sons, Richard and Donna Snelling of El Dorado and Dale and Loretta Snelling of Marion; brother, Wallace Wilson of Rogers, Ark., seven grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren; his special family, Don and Carol Vogelman and their sons, Kim, Mark, Scott, and Tim and their families and his sister-in-law, Pauline Wilson of El Dorado.
He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, and one sister.
