PATTEE, ASA D. - PATTEE, HANNAH

Asa D. Pattee and Hannah Pattee are to be married at G. A. R. Hall Saturday eve September 24. They are not so young and giddy as they were but the affection of Asa and Hannah though milder is stronger than fifty years ago - that is when they were married the first time. This is the celebration of their Golden Wedding, fifty years since they were wed at Fairfield, Illinois.

Their little home is too small to entertain their friends and so the happy event will occur at G. A. R. Hall. Of course their friends are invited and expected and it is gladness, good will and rejoicing, not presents. (Walnut Valley Times, September 30, 1904)

Saturday, September 24, was celebrated the fiftieth anniversary or Golden Wedding of Mr. and Mrs. A. D. Pattee, two excellent people with a wide acquaintance and friendships equally extended. Their own cottage was far too small to accommodate the celebrants and so the company, composed of members of Wallace Post G. A. R. and the W. R. C. required to their Hall, 50 or 60 happy people intent on recalling the truly happy union of Mr. and Mrs. Pattee. Justice Avery after he had the consent of the "guardian" of 16 year old Hannah Elliot, with appropriate words renewed the vows and union of that twain mid much good humored rivalry and congratulations. The G. A. R. presented the "groom" with a handsome gold watch chain. The W. R. C. made the "bride" happy by a gold neck chain for her watch. Then refreshments of cake and coffee were served and the company, joyful that it had retouched the hearts of Mr. and Mrs. Pattee with youth, dispersed. It is rare that husband and wife are so blest as to live 50 years together. Between death and the divorce court the great majority are separated long before the half century can be observed, therefore these old-young people are especially to be congratulated. (Walnut Valley Times, September 30, 1904)

SHELDEN, CHESTER C. - SUMMERS, LIZZIE

Chester C. Shelden and Miss Lizzie Summers were married in Wichita. August 12 and the fact is only now made known.
