WEDDLE, ALFRED GUY

Alfred Guy Weddle, 79, of Nevada, Mo., father of Mrs. Beverly Pettus of El Dorado, died Sunday at Nevada City Hospital. Services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Metz Methodist Church in Metz, Mo., with the Rev. Charles Rhodes officiating. Burial will be in Balltown Cemetery in Horton, Mo.

Family and friends may call from now until 10 a.m. Wednesday.

He was born June 25, 1903 in Arthur, Mo., the son of John William and Jessie (Welch) Weddle. He married Eunice F. Foreman at Fort Scott on Jan. 4, 1930.

He spent his entire life in the Metz area. He was an ardent horseshoe pitcher and worked for T. J. Longabaugh Construction Co. for many years.

Survivors include his wife of the home; one son, David Weddle of Springfield, Mo., two daughters, Mrs. Beverly Pettus of El Dorado and Mrs. Diane Schulte of Springfield; two brothers, Hurbert Weddle of Amoret, Mo., and Leo of Rich Hill, Mo.; five sisters, Mrs. Ora Hickam of Independence, Mo., Mrs. Willa Tourtillot of Metz, Mrs. Eva Sivils of Butler, Mo., Mrs. Irene Fix of Rich Hill and Mrs. Faye Strait of Hutchinson.

WELCH, PAUL J.

Paul J. Welch, 78, of Moline, father of Mrs. Don Sullivan of El Dorado died Sunday. He was a retired farmer and trucker. Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church at Moline. Watt Funeral Home of Moline has charge.

Other survivors are five sons, Paul J. Jr., and Jim, both of Wichita, Leo, Moline, Kenneth, New Palestine, Ind., and Jack Marshfield, Mo., five other daughters, Mrs. Don Murphy, Moline, Mrs. Carl Liebau, Ft. Scott, Mrs. Ken Green, Travis, Air Force Base, Calif., Mrs. Gene Bajew, Sierra Vista, Ariz., and Mrs. Abe Holzmeister, Salina and five sisters. (El Dorado Times, Jan. 21, 1975)

WILCOX, MINA (MRS FRED)

Mrs. Fred (Mina) Wilcox, 82, of Cottonwood Falls, sister of Paul Brant of El Dorado died Thursday at Flint Hills Manor, Emporia.

She was born at Augusta and had lived in chase County about 50 years. Shew as the daughter of Nathan and Hettie Wright Brant. She married Fred Wilcox in 1930 at Newton. She was a member of the United Methodist Church and of the Order of Eastern Star.

Surviving are her husband of the home; two sisters, Mrs. Zoe Moomey and Mrs. Gladys House, both of Wichita; and her brother, Mr. Brant.

Two brothers, Orr and Vern, preceded her in death.

The funeral will be Monday at 2 p.m. at the Croy Funeral Home in Cottonwood Falls with the Rev. Tom Robson officiating. Burial will be Prairie Grove Cemetery at Cottonwood Falls. (El Dorado Times Feb. 7, 1975)

WILLIAMS, MABEL C.

Funeral services were held Monday for Mrs. Harry A. Williams (Mabel C.), 69, 635 North High at the Dietz-Carlson Colonial Chapel. Mrs. Williams died suddenly Thursday, Jan. 9.

Rev. Jack Blackwell, pastor of the Assembly of God church conducted the services. Mrs. Amos Marsh played an organ solo, "How Great Thou Art," and accompanied Mrs. Lowell Young who sang "The Eastern Gate."

Casket bearers were William A. McAdoo, Andy Church, Lloyd Scott, Clyde Allen, bob Kinsinger, and John Lamb. Interment was in Sunset Lawns Cemetery.

Mrs. Williams was born March 29, 1905 in Ringwood, Okla., the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Rader (Myrtle Schrader). She married Harry A. Williams July 14, 1937 at El Dorado. He died January 12, 1968.

Survivors include two sons, Wayne Foster, Newport, Wash., and Marion F. (Bud) Williams, 310 South Orchard; one daughter, Mrs. Doris Glaze, Derby; two sisters, Mrs. Clara Davenport and Mrs. Gladys Harrison, both of El Dorado; and nine grandchildren.

Preceding her in death were her husband, parents three sisters and two brothers. (El Dorado times, January 16, 1975)

WIMBERLY, RALPH VERNON 'MIKE'

Ralph Vernon "Mike" Wimberly, 79, of rural Burns, died Sunday, July 22, 2007, at the VA Nursing Home in Wichita. Services are 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 25, 2007, at the Trinity United Methodist Church.

Ralph was born July 2, 1928 in El Dorado, the son of Harry and Iva (Wilson) Wimberly. Ralph proudly served in the Merchant Marines and the United States Marine Corps. during World War II. He was united in marriage to Ann Zieman on Nov. 11, 1953 at the Christian Church parsonage in El Dorado. He worked in the oil fields, Banks Construction and retired from Butler County Road and Bridge. He loved horses, cats and tractors.

Survivors include: his wife Ann of the home; sons, Mike and his wife Linda of rural Burns, Jeff of McFarland and Richard Zieman who he raised; sisters, Georgia Kennedy and Donna Furr, both of Leon; grandchildren, Rochelle Wilson, Casey Wimberly and Amy Reagan; six great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Memorials have been established with the VA Nursing Home TLC and the American Diabetes Association. Contributions may be left with Kirby-Morris Funeral Home. (El Dorado Times, July 22, 2007)

WILSON, P. D. (DON)

P. D. (Don) Wilson, 73, of 820 S. Denver, a retired rancher, died Monday at the Wesley Medical Center in Wichita. He was born in February 1901.

Surviving are his widow, Henrietta Wilson; two daughters, Mrs. Rebecca Hudson, Leonard, Texas, and Mrs. Burma Strong, 621 S. Estelle, Wichita; a sister, Mrs. Lester Peele, Florence, Colo., and a granddaughter.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Downing East Mortuary in Wichita. (El Dorado times, Wednesday, January 8, 1975)
