ZAHM, AGNES L.

Agnes L. Zahm, 96, of El Dorado, died Thursday at a local nursing home. Services will be held at 9 a.m. Saturday at St. John's Catholic Church. Recitation of the Rosary will be at 7 p.m. Friday at St. John's. Graveside services will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday at St. Joseph's Cemetery, in Beatrice, Neb.

She was born Jan. 11, 1905 to John and Mary (Kreuzberg) Quinowski in Beatrice, Neb. She came to El Dorado in 1953 and has lived here permantely since 1977. She was a graduate of Beatrice High School and BUsiness College. She was a homemaker and caregiver. Memberships included St. John's Catholic Church and the Altar Society. She was an accomplished seamstress, a wonderful cook and loved to play Bingo.

Survivors include: a son, Ret. Col. Ronald J. Zahm of Gulf Breeze, Fla.; daughters, Lucy and husband Bill Callaway of El Dorado; Dolores and husband Wally Graff of Lincoln, Neb.; Rose Anne and husband Wayne Denney of Ontario, Ore., Pat Braden of Augusta and Bernadette and husband Edmundo Sandoval of Cuernavaca, Mexio; 22 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by three brothers and a sister.

Memorials may be made to St. John's Catholic Church. Contribution may be left at the church or with Kirby-Morris Funeral Home, which has the arrangements. (El Dorado Times, July 6, 2001)

ZWAHL, CONNIE JEAN (HUBBART)

Connie Jean (Hubbart) Zwahl, 70, Augusta, died on Wednesday, March 14, 2007. She will be cremated, and her memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, March 24, at Headley Funeral Chapel in Augusta.

Connie, born in Hiawatha on Dec. 17, 1936, was the daughter of the late Lloyd and Billie (Hoar) Hubbart, and the oldest of six children. She spent her childhood in Netawaka and graduated from Netawaka High School.

She married Floyd Zwahl on June 4, 1955 while he was stationed in Germany, and moved to Augusta in 1960. Initially a homemaker and stay-at-home mother, Connie was actively involved in her children's schools and school activities as well as the PTA. Over her 46 years in Augusta, she actively served the Augusta community in many capacities, including the Chamber of Commerce, the United Way, the Augusta Arts Council and the Augusta Planning Commission.

Connie started her real-estate career with George Snyder. She later became a real-estate broker with Simmons realty and eventually a co-owner. She later created her own real-estate appraisal company, Zwahl Appraisals, which continues to exist.

Connie is survived by husband, Floyd Zwahl of Augusta; son, Mark Zwahl of Lawrence; daughter, Brenda Zwahl and her husband Doug Stowell of Seattle, Wash., and her two grandchildren, Riley and Maggie Stowell. She is also survived by her sister, Marilyn Williams of Augusta; brother, Butch and his wife Dorothy Hubbart of Augusta; brother, Jerry and his wife Suzanna Hubbart of LaBelle, Fla.; and brother, Linnie and companion Sue Maness of Iowa Park, Texas.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister Deanie Dickinson, and son, Todd Zwahl.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Meals on Wheels.
