75 years ago 1927:
Mr. and Mrs. Charles Odell, who have been in charge of the Winter Hotel are now also taking over the Commercial Hotel.

The graduating class at the St. Francis Community High School will be the largest class to complete the work in the history of the school Thirty boys and girls will received diplomas including Earl Arrants, Gerald Bear, Gladys Carmichael, Arthur Cass, Edward Cook, Lewis Collins, Ernest Confer, Harry Dopp, Paul Dopp, Edythe Duncan, Ellen Evins, Francis Fallis, Charles Follett, Elmer Felzien,Oma Greer, Henry Indorf, Thelma Kail, Lynn Kannel, Kathryn Kincaid, Herbert Lampe, Rachael Miller, Adelheit Neitzel, Myrthel Parks, Clara Rath, Marie Ramsey, Lyle Scoby, Eleanor Tapp, Virgie Waters, Leslie Webber and Doris Zimmerle.

For 42 years the Herald has chronicled the events that have happened in Cheyenne County. We are told that when the paper was young it struggled along just as all the early settlers of the portion of Kansas did. Through it all the Herald has never missed an issue in that period.
