Union Station - Clay Center, Kansas

The Wichman's lived north of the station in the late 1940's. Verlin recalls the big steam engines coming in and the pennies on the track. Once he did what a lot of little kids do, when exploring the freight part of the depot. He heard the doors closing, got scared, and ran out past the depot agent faster than any steam engine could move. It was the first and last time he ever done that!
