WEDS STAFFORD GIRL
Wayne Douglass of Coldwater, a son of Mr. and Mrs.
T. J. Douglass of Mullinville, and Miss Leota Irvine, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Irvine of Stafford, were
united in marriage at the bride's home at 8:30 o'clock Sunday morning, August 6, 1939. Marie Newell of Riverton,
Wyo., a deaconess and cousin of the bride, officiated. The bridal party stood before a bank of fern and garden
flowers. The bride was attired in a gown of white, marquisette over satin and her floor length veil was held in
place by a lei of orange blossoms.
A three course breakfast was served following the
ceremony, with Mildred Douglass, sister of the groom, presiding at the serving table. The bride is a graduate of
the Stafford high school and Southwestern college, Winfield, where she was a member of Delta Kappa Chi Society.
She has also attended Kansas State College, Manhattan and is now a teacher in the Mullinville schools. Mr. Douglass,
a graduate of the Mullinville high school, has been employed since last May as a dry cleaner by the City Cleaners
in this city. The couple have been honeymooning this week at the Mac-L park near Belvidere and will make their

DRAKE-FLEMING WEDDING
Miss Nellie Evelyn Fleming, daughter of Mr. and
Mrs. N. C. Fleming of Coldwater. and Gerald Lee Drake, son of Mr. and Mrs. Lee Drake of Protection, were united
in marriage at the Christian church parsonage in Coldwater. last Saturday evening, August 12. Rev. Olen F. Boyd,
pastor, performing the ceremony.
The bride has been a resident of this city for
the past 18 years, and the groom formerly lived In Protection, where he graduated from high school, but for the
past few years he has resided in Wellington and in Wichita. The young couple will make their home In Wichita. Attending
the wedding were Misses Sue Doran. Mine and Margot Fleming and Ed Hightower of Coldwater, and Mrs. Lorena Mead

at the parlor of the Manhattan hotel in Wichita. Elmer W. E. Babb of this city performed the ceremony. (Western

HECHT-DUNCAN WEDDING
James Hecht, son of Mr. and Mrs. Reuben Hecht,
and Miss Myrace Marie Duncan, daughter of Mrs. Frank Holloway of this city, went to Hot Sulphur Springs, Colo.,
last week and were united in marriage on Tuesday, August 1, 1939, in that city. They were attended by Mr. Hecht's
brother-in-law and sister, Mr. and Mrs. Homer Killillay. The couple plan to remain in Colorado for a while, at
least. The bride has spent all her life in Coldwater. She attended the Coldwater schools, graduating with the class
of 1939. The groom attended the Coldwater schools and for several years has worked as a mechanic in his father's
garage in this city. They are well and favorably known and have the good wishes of everyone. (Western Star August

SHULTZ-MORRIS WEDDING
The home of Mayor and Mrs. Ralph Curtis, Saguache,
Colorado was the scene of a pretty wedding Sunday, July 23, at 10:30 p. m. when Miss Betty Morris became the bride
of Raymond Shultz. Rev. George W. Ellis of the Methodist church officiated.
The bride wore an aqua lace dress with rust and
white accessories. Her only attendent was Miss Vernie Walker. The groom's best man was Richard Collins.
Mrs. Shultz is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Aubrey
Morris and Mr. Shultz is the son of Mr. and Mrs. John Shultz. Both bride and groom are of Coldwater, Kans., having
lived in this city most of their lives. Both are graduates of C. H. S. the groom in 1936 and the bride in 1939.
The bride and groom left soon after the ceremony for Salinas, Calif., where they will make their home. (Western
