HERD, CHERYLE ADELLA

Coldwater, KS --- Cheryle Adella Herd, 3, Coldwater died Wednesday evening in Coldwater after a brief illness.

She was born Sept. 5, 1959 in Coldwater.

Survivors: the parents Mr. and Mrs. Bill Herd, sister, Patty, brothers, Donny and Tommy, all of the home; grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. John Herd, Coldwater; grandmother, Mrs. Gladys Dyck, Hutchinson.

KING, JAMES M.

James M. King of Protection died in Bucklln on Wednesday of last week after an illness of about three weeks duration. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Ella King, and four children. (Western Star, August 11, 1939, page 11, number 5, submitted by Barbara Ziegenmeyer)

McINTYRE, JOHN

John Mclntyre Dies Thursday Morning

Seventy-nine Year Old Pioneer Here Since 1884.

John H. Mclntyre. one of the pioneer settlers in Comanche county, passed away at 10:20 a. m. on Thursday. August 17. 1939 at the home of his brother. F. M. Mclntyre, in this city after a two months' illness.

Plans for the funeral have not been completed as the Star goes to press. John Henry Mclntyre, son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles M. Mclntyre, was born In Sandwich, Ill., February 5, 1860. At the time of his death he was 79 years. 6 months and 12 days of age. His father passed away in Missouri shortly before the family moved to Comanche county In 1884. His mother passed away on May 19. 1914.

John is survived by one brother, F. M. Mclntyre, of Coldwater, and two sisters, Mrs. Kate Kimple of this city and Mrs. Anna Bardwell of Enid, Okla. Another sister. Mrs. Lawton Stanley, passed away In January, 1939.

Mr. Mclntyre was never married. He had spent most of the time until the past few years in farming and gardening. He was a quiet, unassuming man and was a good citizen. (The Western Star, August 18, 1939, Page 1, submtited by Barbara Ziegenmeyer)

WARD, W. B.

W. B. Ward, who was struck by a passing freight train last Friday, died on Wednesday, August 12, in St. Francis hospital in Wichita, where he had been taken by special train. Both feet were crushed in the accident. He died following an operation for the removal of his left leg below the knee. (The Star, August 14, 1914, submitted by Barbara Ziegenmeyer)

WHEELER, SON
