SANDERHOLM, JODI

Jodi was the daughter of Brian J. and Cindy A. (Shanks) Sanderholm. Jodi attended Arkansas City schools, graduating from Arkansas City High School in 2006. She was one of four Valedictorians in her graduating class. While in high school, Jodi was a member of the National Honor Society, a Kansas State Scholar, a Kansas Board of Regents Scholar and earned the Outstanding Physics Student of the Year Award presented by David Stinemetze. She was a member of the Ark City High School Dance Team for four years, two of those four years she was the Captain. Jodi was a member/instructor of Ark City Dance and a Universal Dance Association Instructor. After high school, she attended Cowley College where she studied pre-pharmacy. While at Cowley, she was a member of the Cowley Tigerette Danceline.

Survivors include her parents, Brian and Cindy Sanderholm of Ark City; her brother, Jason Sanderholm of Wichita, KS; her sister, Jennifer Mayfield and her husband Andy of Blue Springs, MO; a niece, Emma Jolea Mayfield of Blue Springs, MO; paternal grandparents Jim and Janet Sanderholm, maternal grandparents Don and Peggy Shanks, great-great aunt, Lillian Damewood "Dody", and her boyfriend Colby Wilson all of Ark City.

SEXTON, NORMA JEAN

Norma Jean Sexton, 67, Arkansas City, died Wednesday, Jan. 18, 2006, at her home in Arkansas City. Funeral services will be held at Hawks Funeral Home at 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 20, 2006. Interment will be in the Memorial Lawn Cemetery, Arkansas City.

She was born on July 19, 1938, in Bartlesville, Okla., the daughter of John Will and Ruthie Ann Pauline Keithly Bridges. In the early 1940s, the family lived in Texas, moving to Arkansas City in 1945. Norma graduated from Arkansas City High School in 1957 and later attended Cowley County Community Jr. College. She married Vernon Lee Brewer on June 2, 1957, in Arkansas City. He died on Aug. 6, 1979. She later married Max Sexton on Aug. 27, 1982, in Miami, Okla. Norma was retired from the Presbyterian Manor where she had been a certified medical aide for 22 years, prior to which she had worked at Medicalodge East. She was a member of the West Kansas Avenue Church of God.

Survivors include her husband, Max Sexton, of the home in Arkansas City; one son, Kenneth Brewer, of El Dorado; two step-sons, Johnnie Max Sexton, Wichita, and Lonnie R. Sexton, of Ottawa; one stepdaughter, Lana Moore, of Fond du Lac, Wis.; one brother, John R. Bridges, of Arkansas City; two grandchildren, Eliott Brewer and Emma Brewer; and three stepgrandchildren, Casie and Katie Sexton and Michael Cook. She was preceded in death by her parents, and husband, Vernon. Friends may call at the funeral home from 5 to 8 p.m. today and 9 a.m. to noon Friday.

Jose` E. Sigala, 19, of Arkansas City, died Monday (December 31, 2007) at the South Central Kansas Regional Medical Center, the result of a car accident. The Rosary will be recited 7:00 p.m. Friday (January 4, 2008) at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:00 a.m. Saturday also at the Church. Cremation will follow.
Jose` was born February 23, 1988 in Chihuahua, Mexico, to Jose` and Guadalupe (Davila) Sigala. He was reared and educated in Houston, Texas and Arkansas City. He was a lead carpenter for a construction company.

Survivors include his parents of the home; a daughter Josie L. Sigala of Arkansas City, three sisters Patricia Sigala-Ruiz of Mexico, Mayra Gutierrez of Houston, Amalia Barron of Arkansas City; grandfather Jose` Sigala of Mexico; and great-grandmother Blasa Saldana of ElPaso, Texas.

SPEER, RUTH ELAINE

Ruth Elaine Speer was born on July 20, 1922 in Dunlap, Kansas the daughter of J.B. Pritchard and Minnie (Graves) Pritchard. Ruth was raised and educated in Dunlap Kansas and was a 1940 graduate of Dunlap High School. Ruth lost her first husband Jack Osborn early in World War II. Jack was a B-17 gunner and was killed over Germany. Ruth was later united in marriage with Clifford E. Speer on September 13, 1947 in Wichita, Kansas. Ruth and her husband owned and operated the Western Auto Store in Arkansas City several years.

Survivors include her son Randall Speer and his wife Dyanne of Conroe, TX and daughter Nancy Luther of Salina, KS, five grandchildren; Robert Bandhauer of Denver, CO, Bruce Bandhauer and wife Diana of Wichita, KS, Steven Speer and his wife Katie of Austin, TX, Katharine Delp and her husband Jefferey of Atlanta, GA and Jake Luther of Salina, KS and great grandson Sam Delp and great granddaughter Maya Dawn Delp also of Atlanta, Ga.

Preceding her in death were her parents, husbands, daughter Gerry Lynn Bandhauer in 2001 and brothers and sisters.

Velma Hazel "Tommye" Eaton-Stewart, 85, of Arkansas City, died Sunday (April 9, 2006) at her home. Tommye was born November 27, 1920 in Arkansas City to Floyd Washington and Hazel Emma (Orndorff) Jack. She was reared and educated in Arkansas City, graduating from Arkansas City High School in 1938. She married Charles Hugh Eaton on September 18, 1938 in Guthrie, Oklahoma. Chuck Eaton died in January 1984. Tommye married W.E. Stewart on January 6, 1986 in Yuma, Arizona.

Survivors include her husband W.E. Stewart, Sr. of the home; two sons William Fred Eaton of Gun Barrel City, Texas, and Robert G. Eaton of New York, New York; two brothers Gary Thomas of McKinney, Texas, William Floyd Jack of Okinawa; a sister Betty Ann Overstake of Wichita; a granddaughter Angela Eaton Needham of Purcell, Oklahoma and a great-granddaughter Elizabeth Ann Needham; two step-children, seven step-grandchildren; six step-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death her first husband Chuck Eaton, a brother Willie Jack, two grandsons and a step-son.

TEMPLAR, GEORGE

RETIRED U.S. JUDGE TEMPLAR DIES AT 83 HE HANDLED CLUTTER APPEALS

George Templar, a retired U.S. district judge and former member of the Legislature, died Friday at a Wichita hospital. He was 83.

Templar, appointed to the bench by President Kennedy in 1962, heard most of his cases in Topeka. Among matters he considered were appeals of Perry Smith and Richard Hickock, convicted in Garden City in the 1959 murders of four members of the Clutter family of Holcomb. The murders were the subject of the book "In Cold Blood," by Truman Capote.

Templar remained an active judge until 1974, when he took senior status, continuing to hear cases occasionally. In 1985, he closed his Topeka office and moved back to Arkansas City in his native Cowley County.

He was born on a ranch in Cowley County After graduating from Washburn University at Topeka in 1927, he began practicing law in Arkansas City. In 1933, he was elected to the Kansas House, where he served until 1941. He was elected to the Kansas Senate in 1944 and served several terms.

In 1953, President Eisenhower appointed him U.S. attorney for Kansas. The next year, Templar resigned to run for the Republican nomination for governor. He lost to Fred Hall, who became governor.

Templar is survived by his wife, Helen; a daughter, Joan Smith of Norman, Okla.; a son, Ted of Arkansas City; five grandchildren; and one great- granddaughter.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at First United Methodist Church in Arkansas City.

TEMPLAR, HELEN MARIE (BISHOP)

Helen Marie (Bishop) Templar, 101, died Saturday, Sept. 23, 2006, in Arkansas City. Graveside services have been scheduled for 2 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 28, 2006, in Memorial Lawn Cemetery. The Rev. Charles Grant will officiate. Mrs. Templar was born Sept. 3, 1905, in Guthrie, Okla., territory. She was preceded in death by her husband, U.S. District Judge George Templar; her parents, J.L. (Roy) and Elizabeth (Bess) Bishop; a brother, James Marvin Bishop; and three sisters, Vera Robinson, Esther Linnenkohl, and Enid Collinson. She is survived by her daughter, Joan Smith; husband, Jerry of Norman, Okla.; her son, Ted Templar and his wife, Maxine, of Arkansas City; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; a niece, Betty Linnenkohl True, of Fort Mojave, Ariz.; and a nephew, Peter Collinson, of Winfield. Mrs. Templar was a member of the Red Cross team that served sandwiches and lemonade to the many members of the armed forces who passed through Arkansas City on troop trains during World War II. At the end of the war, she prepared and mailed 100 packages of food and clothing to her husband's relatives in the Netherlands. They had lost most of their belongings during the war. She served as president of the Kansas chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, and was a member of Eastern Star and the Arkansas City Historical Society. She was active for many years in the Arkansas City Green Thumb Club, and she played golf frequently at the Arkansas City Country Club. She and her sister, the late Enid Collinson, who had lived in Winfield, did extensive genealogy research which led them to discover their French Huguenot ancestry. They subsequently became members of the National Huguenot Society. Mrs. Templar contributed articles of historical interest to such publications as The Logan County, Oklahoma History, and she edited a genealogy book for the Harader family. (Her husband was a Harader descendant.) After graduating from Arkansas City High School, she received nurse's training at Wesley Hospital in Wichita. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Arkansas City.

Cecilia M. Thielen, 60, of Arkansas City, died Friday (April 18, 2008) at the Resthaven Manor of Winfield. Cecilia was born August 5, 1947 in Arkansas City to Joseph Stafford and Esther (Reece) Stafford. She was reared and educated in Arkansas City, graduating from Arkansas City High School in 1965. She later attended Cowley College and St. John's College of Winfield. Cecilia worked as a cook for many years in USD 470 schools and at the Senior Citizen's Center.
Survivors include two sons James Thielen of Wichita, Anthony Thielen of Arkansas City; a daughters Anastasia Copeland of Arkansas City; two brothers Rev. John Stafford of Winfield, and Harry Joe Stafford; and ten grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two sons Matthew and Nicholas.
A memorial has been established with the American Diabetes Association. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.

Eva M. Thompson, 93, of Cedar Vale, died Monday, September 8, 2003 at the Cedar Vale Community Hospital.

Born March 18, 1910 at Arkansas City, Eva was the daughter of Ben and Ruth (Richards) Turnipseed. She was raised and educated in Arkansas City, graduating in 1928. Eva was a bookkeeper for Steffen's Dairy.

On November 25, 1934, Eva married Floyd Thompson at Newkirk, Oklahoma. The couple made their home in Arkansas City until moving to Cedar Vale in 1963 where they have lived since.

Eva was a member of the Cedar Vale United Methodist Church to which she was very dedicated, the United Methodist Women, the LOVI Club, and the Hewins E.H.U.
She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother.

Eva is survived by her husband, Floyd of the home; one son, David Thompson and his wife, Carol of Augusta; two daughters, Shirley Kenney of Green, KS and Judy Kennedy and her husband, Warren of Valley Center; eight grandchildren; eighteen great grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers, Roy, Glen, and Richard Turnipseed.

TOOLEY, BETTY ROBERTA

Betty Roberta Tooley, 81 of Ponca City died Thursday, March 20, 2008 at the Ponca City Medical Center.

Funeral services are scheduled for 1:00 p.m., Friday, March 28, 2008 at the Rindt-Erdman Funeral Home in Arkansas City. Mr. Wayne Robbins will officiate. Interment will in the Memorial Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Thursday at the funeral home.

Betty was born October 19, 1926 to Harvey Jacob Creighton and Grace Margarite (Cain) Creighton in Arkansas City. She graduated from Arkansas City High School and attended nursing school in Winfield.

On September 4, 1945 she married Robert R. Tooley, Sr. in Arkansas City. Betty was a LPN at hospitals in Clovis, NM, Battle Creek MI and Arkansas City. She also worked for the State Hospital in Winfield. Betty was a member of the Church of Christ in Arkansas City.

She is survived by her two sons, Floyd Michael Tooley of Ponca City, OK, Creighton Wade Tooley and wife, Susan of Greenfield, WI; daughter in law, Kay Tooley of Benton, KY; sister, Ann Elin Barker of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; five grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents, husband and son, Robert R. Tooley, Jr.

TYLER, PATRICIA LAVERNE (SHELDON) LAWSON

ARKANSAS CITY -- Patricia Laverne (Sheldon) Lawson Tyler, 69, died Thursday (Sept. 2, 1999) at Via Christi Regional Medical Center, St. Francis Campus in Wichita. She was the sister of Juanita March of Newton.

She was born Oct. 13, 1929, in Cedar Vale to Clarence Hobart and Avis Irene (Drury) Sheldon. She married Robert "Bob" Eldon Lawson April 7, 1950. He preceded her in death in 1985. She married Thomas Tyler Feb.10, 1989, in Arkansas City. He survives of the home.

She grew up in Wellington and Arkansas City, and was a 1947 graduate of Arkansas City High School. She attended Arkansas City Junior College from 1947 to 1949, and after completing her studies she taught in country schools in south central Kansas until 1952. She and her husband Bob lived in LaCygne and Sedan, moving to Arkansas City in 1960. She volunteered at Lincoln Elementary School as a reading tutor.

She was employed at Cowley County Community College from 1979 to 1991, where she served as a secretary and later as director of economic development.

She and her second husband Tom were active in miniature train clubs and frequently traveled to reunions of the World War II Eighth Air Force Bomber Group to meet with former crew members. She was an active member of Hackney Community Baptist Church and was a previous member of Central Christian Church and the local Home Extension Unit.

Other survivors include: two daughters, Enid Chandler of Pleasant Hill, Mo., and Vivian Velasquez of Arkansas City; one son, Clinton Lawson of Arkansas City; two brothers, Bill Sheldon of Arkansas City and Tom Sheldon of Mulvane; two step-sons, Steven Tyler and Keith Tyler, both of Arkansas City; four grandchildren; and four step-grandchildren. She also was preceded in death by her parents and one step-son, Wayne Tyler.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church in Arkansas City with Pastor Ted Brown from Hackney Community Baptist Church officiating. Burial will be in the Memorial Lawn Cemetery.

Family will greet friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Rindt-Erdman Funeral Home in Arkansas City.

WALL, GLADYS MAE

Gladys Mae Wall, 90, of Arkansas City, passed away Sunday, May 20, 2007, at Cumbernauld Village in Winfield. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m.,Thursday, May 24, 2007 at the Memorial Lawn Cemetery Chapel. Visitation will be held Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m.
Gladys was born April 17, 1917, along with her twin brother Gail, in Copan Oklahoma to Jesse and Stella (Snook) Brokaw. The family lived in Copan until 1926 when they moved to Arkansas City, Kansas, where she received her education. During WWII she helped the war effort by working at Boeing Aircraft in Wichita. On April 16, 1947, she was united in marriage to Fred Wall in Arkansas City. To this union three children were born; Sharon, Judy, and Phillip. The couple made their home in Arkansas City where Gladys worked at the Arkansas City Memorial Hospital. Gladys loved spending time with her children and grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Fred Wall, son Phillip, and her brothers Jesse and Gail Brokaw.

Survivors include two daughters, Sharon Andes and husband Tom of Winfield, KS and Judy LaPointe and husband Conrad of Canyon City, CO. Grandchildren, Jeff Andes and wife Sandra of El Paso, TX, Eric Andes of Wichita, KS, Ryan Andes and wife Jessica of Wichita, KS, Sharon Stoner and husband Ray of CO, Michelle Hipple and husband Dave of TX, Joann Cimon and Rich of MA, Judy Hickman and husband A.J. of TX, and 17 great grandchildren.

A memorial has been established with the American Stroke Association. Memorials may be left with the funeral home.

WALLING, HERMAN ALDEN

Herman Alden Walling, 87 of Arkansas City died Friday, February 16, 2007 at the Sumner Regional Medical Center in Wellington.
Funeral services are scheduled for 1:30 p.m., Tuesday, February 20, 2007 at the First United Methodist Church in Arkansas City. The Reverend Charles Grant will officiate. Interment will follow in the Memorial Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home.

Alden was born November 28, 1919 to Frank Walling and Aletha (McCubbins) Walling in Hartshorn, MO. He married Georgie Field , June 2, 1940 and the couple resided in Kansas City until 1951. They moved to Arkansas City , where Alden worked for the Santa Fe Railroad, until his retirement in 1979. He enjoyed fishing, cooking and traveling.

Alden served in the United States Navy during World War II. He was a member of the V.F.W. Post #1254, the American Legion Post #18, the Masonic Lodge and active member of the First United Methodist Church in Arkansas City.

Alden is survived by his daughter, Vicki Means of Wichita; son, Larry Walling and his wife, Larene; sister, Opal Hedges of Arkansas City; six grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, four brothers and two sisters.

A memorial has been established with Harry Hynes Hospice. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.

WARREN, PAULINE (GOFF)

Pauline (Goff) Warren, 94, of Arkansas City, KS died Sunday, January 13, 2008, at the South Central Kansas Regional Medical Center. Funeral services have been scheduled for 2:30 p.m. Thursday, January 17, 2008, at the Rindt-Erdman Funeral Home. The Reverend Joe P. Warren will officiate.
Pauline was born December 11, 1913, in Arkansas City to Herman A. and Genevieve (Moore) Goff. She was reared and educated in Arkansas City graduating from Ark City High School in 1932. After high school Pauline attended Arkansas City Junior College.
On September 4, 1932, she married Joe E. Warren in Arkansas City. The couple made their home in the Silverdale and Maple City area. Pauline worked as a secretary for her husband at the State House in Topeka, KS for fifteen years. Pauline was involved in numerous hobbies including gardening, photography, bird egg collecting, and butterfly collecting. She was also a member of the First Presbyterian Church.
She is survived by her son, Jim Warren and his wife Rita of Arkansas City, KS; two sisters, Genevieve Galle and Goldie Circle; five grandchildren, Joe Warren and his wife Cindy of San Antonio, TX; Vicki Mohler and her husband James of Spokane, MO; Debra Binford and her husband Dwane of Arkansas City, KS; Tom Warren and his wife Jolynn of Geuda Springs, KS; David Warren and his wife Sharon of Maple City, KS; twenty seven great- grandchildren, and numerous great-great grandchildren.
Pauline was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Joe, one infant son David, and one daughter Helen.

WEBER, ROBERTA

Roberta Weber, 78, of Arkansas City, died Monday (June 30, 2008) at her residence. Funeral services are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Thursday (July 3, 2008) at the First Assembly of God Church. Burial will follow in the Memorial Lawn Cemetery. Pastor James Newman will officiate.

Roberta was born August 26, 1929, in Charleston, Missouri, to Richard A. and Irene (Hester) Mills. She was reared and educated in Missouri, Kentucky, and Kansas. She married Johnnie B. Weber on February 10, 1945 in Onaga, Kansas. The couple made their home on a farm north of Onaga until 1960. Johnnie worked in construction in several Kansas communities. The couple moved to Arkansas City when Johnnie went to work at G.E. Roberta worked as a homemaker and mother until all of her children were grown. She then helped open and later close the T.G.&Y. Store in Arkansas City and later helped open the K-Mart. She was a longtime member of First Assembly of God Church, captain of the Forty Fillies Bowling Team and League Vice President. Co-founder, secretary and organizer of 50th Combat Engineers Army reunions for many years.
Survivors include three sons Johnnie Dean and his wife Susan Weber of Nappanee, Indiana, Robert Dale and his wife Pat Weber of Duncan, Oklahoma, James Arlen and wife Johnna Weber of Arkansas City; one daughter Susan Ann and her husband Mike Meloy of Cedar Vale; three brothers Richard Mills of Topeka, Lloyd and Rick Mills both of New York; two sisters Shirley Fowler of West Virginia, Sherry Duncan of Americus, Kansas; step-mother Dolly Mills of Americus; many grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Johnnie in 1994, two sisters Katherine Mills and Joyce Barksdale, and two brothers Charles and Scott Mills.

WESTPHALEN, ROSEMARY

ARLINGTON -- Rosemary Westphalen, 73, a retired aerospace administrative employee, passed away Wednesday, July 16, 2003, at a local hospital.

Funeral: 11 a.m. Saturday at Aldersgate United Methodist Church in Arlington. Burial: 11 a.m. Monday in Memorial Lawn in Arkansas City, Kan. Visitation: 7 to 8 p.m. Friday at Arlington Funeral Home.

Rosemary was born July 25, 1929, in Arkansas City, Kan. She was a longtime resident of Arlington, and a former resident of Nebraska, Iowa, and Arkansas City. She worked in administration in aerospace for 10 years. Rosemary was also an editor and teacher.

Survivors: Husband, Larry Westphalen of Arlington; sons, David Crabtree of Denton, Doug Crabtree of Arlington, Richard Crabtree of Fort Worth and Dean Crabtree of Arlington; grandchildren, Adria, Kevin, Kimberly, Lisa, Sarah, Shane, Monica and Joshua; and great-grandchildren, Juan, Xavier, Zachery and Hunter.

WILLIAMS, GLORIA SUE

Gloria Sue Williams, 57, formerly of Arkansas City, died Saturday (October 15, 2005) at the Memorial Hospital in Arlington, Texas.

Gloria was born December 8, 1947, in Arkansas City, to Benjamin Perez and Juanita(Valencia) Olvera. She was reared and educated in Arkansas City, graduating from Arkansas City High School and Cowley County Community College. She married Grant Williams on October 10, 1964 in Arkansas City. The couple made their home in Arkansas City and Westerly, Rhode Island. They were later divorced. She worked as a cosmetologist, a hotel auditor and a disc jockey. She was a former member of the Hillcrest Bible Baptist Church in Arkansas City and presently a member of the Pleasantview Baptist Church of Arlington. She was also a member of Beta Sigma Phi, American Business Women's Association, Ladies Auxiliary of the American Legion, International Order of Eagles and the Welcome Wagon.

Survivors include Christopher, James, Stephanie, Brendan, Michelle, Ashdon and Amanda Williams; also five sisters Sofia DiPasqua, Eva Reyez, Henrietta Duran, Margaret Hearne and Rachel Olson.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter Angel, and a brother Antonio "Tony" Olvera.

A memorial has been established with the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.

Arvil Willard Woods, 89, of Arkansas City, died Wednesday (November 7, 2007) at Medicalodge East. Arvil was born June 23, 1918, at Kendrick, Oklahoma, to August and Zelma (Gould) Woods. He was reared and educated in Oklahoma. He married Lavinia O. Gildhouse on October 31, 1940, in Newkirk, Oklahoma. The couple lived all their married lives in Arkansas City. He worked in the maintenance department at the Total Refinery for many years. He was a longtime member of the Blessing Heights Church of God.

Survivors include a brother Ervin and his wife Charlotte of Arkansas City; a brother-in-law Robert Gildhouse of Arkansas City; two sisters-in-law Helen and her husband Clell Standlee, Rose and her husband Ron Cross.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Lavinia in 2002, step-father Charles Stout, two sisters Alene Kruse and Lavina Kruse, and two brothers Virgil Woods and Rancler Stout.

Arrangements are being made through Rindt-Erdman Funeral Home of Arkansas City.

ZINK, CHARLENE GRACE (SPENCER)

Charlene Grace (Spencer) Zink, 69, of Arkansas City, KS died Wednesday, September 5, 2007, at the St Francis Medical Center of Wichita. Viewing and visitation will be 6:00 p.m. to 8:00p.m. Monday, September 10, 2007, at the Rindt-Erdman Funeral Home. Funeral services have been scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 11, 2007, at the Rindt-Erdman Funeral Home. Pastor Doug Scott will officiate. Charlene was born June 17, 1938, in Elgin, KS to Forrest L. Spencer and Mary A. (Stone) Spencer. Charlene was reared and educated in Shidler, OK. She Graduated from Shidler High School in 1956. Charlene made her home in Shidler until moving to Arkansas City in 1968. She worked as a house keeper for many years.

Survivors include her son Louis F. Zink Jr. and his wife Ruth; two daughters, Stacey Curfman and her husband Darren, Jami Beeman and her husband Travis all of Arkansas City, KS; sister Lynda S. Spencer or Blackwell, OK; grandchildren, Staff Sergeant Timothy Zink of Osan, South Korea; Toni Carlson and husband Kyle, Kimberly Beemen, Toby Beeman; great-grandchild Spencer Carlson all of Arkansas City, KS; numerous nieces and nephews.

Charlene was preceded in death by her two infant twin sons, her parents, two brothers, J.R. Spencer, and Robert Spencer.

A memorial has been established with the Harry Hynes Hospice or the DaVita Dialysis of Winfield, KS. Contributions may be made through the funeral home. Arrangements are under the direction of the Rindt-Erdman Funeral Home.
