BRUNMEIER, MYRTLE

Myrtle (Pete) Brunmeier, 66, 216 ½ N. Fourth St., died this morning (Jan. 13, 1986) at her home. She was a cook at Arkansas City Memorial Hospital.

She was born March 18, 1919, in Gregory, S.D., to Adolf Swan Olson and Christinia Pearson Olson. She grew up in Gregory and attended schools there.

She married Rine Brunmeier Jan. 13, 1940, in Butte, Neb. She lived in Arkansas City for ten years.

Her survivors include her husband, her son Buddy, Dallas; three daughters, Mrs. Wibur (Elaine) Killblane and Mrs. Doc (Donna) Beene, both Arkansas City; and Jodie Smith, Broken Arrow, Okla.; her brother Harry Olson, Ramona, Calif., sister Evelyn Lindquist, Gregory, S.D., nine grandchildren and one great grandchild.

She is preceded in death by her parents.

Graveside services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Parker Cemetery with Rev. Dr. Theodore C. Jacobs officiating. Rindt-Erdman-Oldroyd is in charge.

O'HARA, DOUGLAS LEE

Douglas (Doug) Lee O’Hara, 22, Wellington, formerly Arkansas City, died Sunday (Jan. 12, 1986) in a traffic accident on a Sumner County road near Mulvane. He was a produce clerk for Dillon’s Supermarket, Wellington.

He was born June 26, 1963 in Great Bend to Patrick and Marilyn Pearce O’Hara. He started school in Dodge City and moved to Arkansas City in 1979 where he graduated from Arkansas City High School in 1981.

He worked for Dillons stores in Arkansas City, Winfield and Wellington.

He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Arkansas City.

His survivors include his parents, Patrick and Marilyn O’Hara, Arkansas City, brother and sister in law Mike and Connie O’Hara, Newton; grandparents, Cleora O’Hara, Arkansas City, Jack and Rita Connell, Garden City, and Dorothy Pearce, Russell.

He is preceded in death by both his grandfathers.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday in First United Methodist Church with Rev. Jerald K. Hooley officiating.

Burial will be in Parker Cemetery under direction of Rindt-Erdman-Oldroyd.

A memorial has been established with the American Heart Association.

SPEAR, SHIRLEY

Shirley Spear, 61, 14 Crestwood, died Saturday (Jan. 4, 1986) in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.

She was born Feb. 2, 1924, in Schenectady, N.Y., to Charles and Sylvia Chadsey Leonard. She grew up in Schenectady and attended schools there.

On Aug. 28, 1948, she married W.B. (Bob) Spear in Schenectady. They made their home in Schenectady. They moved to Arkansas City in 1964 from Cincinnati.

She was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church and the Alter Society.

Her survivors include her husband Bob of the home, four sons, William Leonard, Atlanta, Ga., Robert Charles, Ft. Lauderdale, Terrence Michael, Derby and Charles Shawn, Boulder, Colo.; three daughters, Patricia Eileen Graham and Marianne Sylvia Spear, Cincinnati, and Margaret Mary Spear, Arkansas City; three sisters, Betty Dwyer, Utica, N.Y., Janet Behan and Patricia Peorsch both Schenectady; six grandchildren, Anthony William Spear, Renata Nicole Spear, Eric Ryan Spear, Robert Charles Spear, and Lauren Marie Spear.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother William Leonard.

Rosary will be recited 4 p.m. Wednesday at the Rindt-Erdman-Oldroyd Chapel.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Rev. Peter J. Duke officiating.

Burial will be in Parker Cemetery.

WILSON, WALTER M.

Walter M. (Tars) Wilson, 66, Rt. 2, died Sunday (Jan. 5, 1986) at Memorial Hospital. He was a retired flour packer for Dixie Portland Mills.

He was born Oct. 29, 1919, in Topeka to Raymond and Gladys Brooks Wilson. He married Etta F. Dickson Jan. 8, 1945 in Wichita.

He attended the Church of God and Holiness.

Survivors include his wife, of the home, son Paul, Arkansas City, daughter Gladys Johnson, Tahlequah, Okla., brother Robert Willis, Calif., and sisters Beverly Puddella, California, and Pat Shirley, Wichita, and five grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents and infant son.

Services will be 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Church of God and Holiness with Rev. Ed Tatum officiating.

BUXTON, BLANCHE EMMA

Blanche Emma Buxton, 86, 215 W. Kansas Ave., died Saturday (Jan. 4, 1986) at her home. She worked as a clerk at Newman’s until her retirement.

She was born Sept. 2, 1899, in Nebraska City to Senate and Daisey Markley Davis. She married Joseph Buxton in Pawnee, Okla. He died in 1950.

She was a member of the Central Christian Church, Eastern Star Victory Chapter No. 151, White Shrine of Jerusalem and the State White Shrine.

Her survivors include her sisters, Mrs. Mildred Dodd and Mrs. Grace Davis, both Arkansas City; niece Imogene Bridges, Fremont, Neb., and nephews Ronald Dodd, Lincoln, Neb., and Lowell Dodd, Crete, Neb.

She is preceded in death by her parents.

BRAMMER, FLORENTINA WILHEMINA

Mrs. Brammer Is Dead; Lived Here 21 Years

Mrs. Florentina Wilhemina Brammer, 77 years old, a native of German and for 21 years a resident three miles east of Arkansas City on highway 166, died at 9 o’clock Wednesday night at her home. She had been ill for some time. Mrs. Brammer came to the United States in 1866 from Dortmund, Germany. She was formerly Miss Seelbach and was married to W.F. Brammer, March 4, 1879, at Edwardville, Ill. They settled at Clearwater, Kas., in 1880 and at the opening of the Strip, in September, 1893, took a claim near Medford, Okla. They moved from there to Hunnewell in 1903 and came to Arkansas City in 1912.

Surviving are the husband; two daughters, Mrs. Lizzie Hedrick, Arno, Mo., and Mrs. Julia Newland, Medford; two sons, William and Louie Brammer, Arkansas City. Three sisters and a brother also survive. They are Mrs. Emma Murray and Miss Louise Brammer, Wichita, and Mrs. Dora Moore, Springfield, Ill., and Thaydor Brammer, West Virginia.

BELL, EARL M.

Earl M. Bell, 71, Festus, Mo., died Saturday (Jan. 4, 1986) at his home. He was an Arkansas City native.

Survivors include his wife Beulah Seal Bell of the home; son David, Dubuque, Iowa, daughters, Phyllis Geske, Cahokia, Ill., and Debby Nelson, Springfield, Mo.; sisters, Clara A. Bell, Arkansas City, and Geraldine Patten, Colorado Springs; and five grandchildren.

REYNOLDS, ANNETTE J.

Annette Jane (Franklin) Reynolds, 74, of Burden, passed away Monday evening March 21, 2011 at Via Christi St. Francis Hospital in Wichita.

Annette was born Oct. 5, 1936 in Burden. She was the daughter of Albert W. and Hilda C. (Rumbaugh) Franklin. She was raised and received her education in Burden. Annette worked at Henderson's Drug as a soda jerk and at the Burden Bank as a teller in her younger years. She later worked at the Winfield State Hospital and Training Center, where she did various jobs including PA, dental assistant, and working in the pharmacy. She retired after 30 years of service there.

Annette was united in marraige to Eldon Belew in 1953. To this union two children were born, Angela and Susan. Eldon passed away in 1959. She later married Paul Wheat. The couple had two children, William and Melanie. They later divorced. Annette was then united in marriage to George Reynolds. He preceded her in death in 1993.

She was a member of the Evangelical Free Church in Winfield as well as the Kansas Author's Club. Annette loved KU basketball, quilting, knitting and writing. She also loved the Burden Central High School band.

Her family includes her son, William "Bill" Wheat and his wife, Diane of Australia; her daughters, Susan (Belew) Phillips and her husband, Dale of Winfield, and Melanie (Wheat) Haury and her husband Gerald of Okeen, Okla.; her brother, William "Bill" Franklin of Alamagordo, NM; her 11 grandchildren, Laura Brinkley, Christie Cunningham, Jennifer Weathers, Jason Weathers, Freedom Brass, Amy Watson, Beth Mugler, Greg Meier, Holly Cannon, Steve Jameson and Amber Wheat adn her 19 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, and two husbands, Annette was preceded in death by her daughter, Angela Ann Belew, her brother, Jack Franklin and her grandson, John Haury.

Graveside funeral services were held Friday, March 25 at 2 p.m. at the Burden Cemetery. Miles Funeral service was in charge of the arrangements.

BEANE, KIM KOLETTE (EASH)

Kim Kolette (Eash) Beane, 46, of Arkansas City, died Saturday (April 9, 2011) at the South Central Kansas Medical Center. Private Memorial services are scheduled for a later date.
Cremation has been effected.

Kim was born February 22, 1965, in Arkansas City. She was reared and educated in Arkansas City, graduating from Arkansas City High School in 1983. She continued her education at the Ponca City Vo-Tech where she received her nursing degree. Kim Married Del Ray Beane on February 25, 1984, in Arkansas City. Kim worked as a nurse for a while before becoming a full time homemaker. She was a member of the Maple City Community Church.

Survivors include her husband Del of the home; son Justin and his wife Vanessa Swartzell; sisters Jan and her husband Joe Woodard, Roni Rollins; nieces and nephew Kayden and Sydney Rollins and Adam Woodard; four grandchildren Josh Swartzell, Colt, Kolette and Kadence Williamson all of Arkansas City.

She was preceded in death by her son Colt Beane, grandparents Joe and Bee Green, mother-in-law Neva Beane, and grandmother-in-law Lorene Barclay.

A memorial has been established with the Maple City Community Church. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
